Yeah that is a good interview. I thought it's interesting to read this one. I like Steven's answers:

Mali Elfman@Screencrave: Technology is constantly evolving. Talking about Jeff Bridges, do you think that in 30 or 40 years you’ll be able to just scan him and use his image forever?

Steven Lisberger: You can start thinking in terms of replacing the actor as a shell, the ghost in the shell if you will. You can replace the shell, but you can’t really replace the ghost. The difference for me, is that real life has a lot of infinity to it. There are so many things that you don’t understand, that we’ll never understand, and we can’t get a handle on, and cyberspace by its very nature has an element of the finite in it. You can always break it down, you can always figure it out. You start thinking, yeah we can have a Jeff Bridges we could replace physically but the Jeff Bridges that I know, there’s a strange brew of mystery, zen master, and crazy artist and it’s all in this non definable form. I don’t think we’re even close to saying “Oh, I’ve got a piece of software that will mimic that.” But the other one is falling, we’ve brought down that god, that statue, the physical reality we’re gonna beat that. But next comes the human software? That’s a long way away.

Interesting stuff. Yeah they have very sophisticated simulators that mimick humans, but digitizing a man, now that's crazy cool to imagine a realistic computer that contains a man.

Ugh, the more TRON Legacy videos I see on Youtube, the more people I see saying "Seeing it just for Daft Punk".

See, now I actually *love* The Matrix Trilogy and I LOVE
Tron and Tron related stuff.

But the two are actually very different.

Tron to me is more about spiritual, digital life forms that are living in a half metaphysical half physical microcosmic dimension and them seeking to establish their own society and follow through on what they think is their purpose for exisiting.

Whereas The Matrix is more about a digital cyberspace version of the philosophy behind Plato's "the cave" allegory, about HUMANS not letting
totalitarian-authrotarian power structures brainwash them, and thinking freely for one's self and using one's will to choose one's own path in life.
I like it's convoluted philosophical collage of ideas and symbolism;
just as I love Tron's more fairytale approach and it's more subtle aspects about self-aware Programs, and subtle hintings at the evils of a facist-like dictatorship (i.e. the MCP and his Elite warriors and Conscripts).

So I really don't get those that just have to belittle one over the other.
To me it's like The Matrix says:
"technology that becomes self aware = technology is mostly 'bad'; so totalitarian machines conquer the human race."

whereas TRON says: "technology is mostly good (in the right hands)
and that when Prgorams become self aware they can be both good (Tron, Dumont, Ram) & bad (MCP, Sark),
Programs for the most part just want to be of benefit to humans i.e. their Users. "

Hey Garrett, I'm a huge fan of the TRON franchise as a whole. I have been somewhat worried about the direction the film is going at some points, such as the whole father-son focused storyline, but I've heard some comforting statements from fellow fans with inside connections saying that these guys definitely know what they're talking about. I know that, due to all the confidentiality rules and legal contractual stuff that you can't answer any questions like "What happens in this part of the movie" and so on. Actually, I'm sort of interested in your opinion on some things. 1) What is your opinion on the original film? What would you say is your favorite scene and least favorite scene?... Read More 2) Have you ever played the TRON 2.0 game for PC/XBOX? If so, what is your overall opinion on it? Do you think it could have been considered a legitimate sequel? 3) Did you ever get a chance to read the official TRON comics from SLG (Slave Labor Group) Publishing a few years back? I never did, and I was wondering if you think they're worth looking into. I've got a lot of faith in this movie. I was originally somewhat worried about the casting considering it was mainly consisting of newer and more modern popular actors/actresses.
