It was painful to watch. I was actually embarrassed for the people involved... to some extent anyway. I mean, they could have said no, but I guess a paycheck is a paycheck.

High school musical? No thanks.

No, I don't think so. Don't ever think like that ever again! High school musical will never be half of what Tron is! Not even a tenth of what Tron is.
I'm ashamed of Disney producing all these awful movies and t.v shows. Whoever is behind all these god awful shows and games probably doesn't care for Disney or quality at all!

Unfortunately, HSM is ore popular than TRON. It cost less to make (adjusting for inflation and cost of modern filmmaking vs. 1982) and grossed a whole lot more. TRON never inspired a sequel (even though fans wanted it). Well, there's a potential sequel in the works now, but there's been sequel talk for years now.
Anyway, HSM is more popular than TRON. NOT with any of us, but with mainstream youth. This kind of film (HSM) makes me want to puke - not just because it exists, but because it is so damn popular. The script to this kind of film practically writes itself - there's nothing unique about it and it's absolutely predictable. I've never seen it, but I know it's predictable to the fullest because that is the kind of crap Disney produces now - regurgitated, but tried and true formulaic same thing over and over and over and over - just change the names, styles, and update this/that for the year produced. IE: Instead of asking mom and dad for a phone in a young girl's bedroom (80's), she'll now ask for her own cell phone (90's, early 00's), etc.

It's not the quality they're after - it's a product. There's a market for this kind of crap (unfortunately), and Disney is taking advantage of it rather than taking a chance on something new, innovative and worthwhile. They turn a healthy profit this way though. It's just good business on their part. It may be bad filmmaking, but whenever you can create a cheap product and monetize on it they way they have, you are successful. They'll keep doing this kind of thing until the market for it dries up.
Just remember - in the entertainment industry (not just with Disney, although they are one of the bigger offenders), it's not about making a good film, it's about small investments and big payoffs. Why work hard on a masterpiece of art when you can slap something together for almost nothing and people will still buy it? That's good business and that's what Hollywood is all about.
Some producers, directors, and studios/entities go above and beyond the same old, same old and those films stand out. Just look at the difference between two well known summer blockbusters: Transformers (2007) and Iron Man (2008 ). Both films were based on well-known franchises, had huge budgets and were guaranteed great success simply because of their established franchises - regardless of whether or not they were actually good films (beyond the action). Transformers was the "cool robot movie" with a somewhat shoddy story full of holes that people "settled for" because the action was so much fun. Iron Man was the "comic book done right" film with plenty of action, great effects, AND a story that was worthy of calling a good, solid story (within the reality of the film - no story is perfect). Everyone settled for Transformers - cool effects with a shoddy story. Everyone loved Iron Man - cool effects AND a great story. See the difference? One film just played the "this has a known foundation, great effects, and big explosions" card. The other film chose to take a known foundation, work out a great story to do it justice and throw in the eye candy on top, rather than just rely on the eye candy to be the main star of the show.
For the record - I haven't seen Transformers and don't plan to. It's of no interest to me, but I have heard it said so many times that people wanted to like it just because it was a fun ride, nothing else - in other words, they settled. I have yet to see Iron Man (and I do plan to see it), but I have not heard a single badmisoprostol dose abortion medical abortion pill online

I'd have to disagree with you there, Todd. I think Transformers had a storyline, it just wasn't really important. But I will admit that you were right about the effects. I admit that I went to see Transformers because of "Giant robots that try to kill each other". I think Iron Man and Transformers are both awesome films, but I, for some reason, always liked Transformers better. I dunno why.
I see what you mean though.
BTW, when is E3? I really don't want to miss it like I did 3 years ago.

It's sickening. What's worse is when you know someone who watches this kind of crap. My mom for instance. I cringe when ever I see her watching this type media; laughing like there is something in the writing that is actually funny. Not to mention soap-operas, the other bane of intelligence.

I'm not entirely sure myself. I read on the Web that it might be closed to private invitations or be shortened this year. I can't be too sure though.

I watched both movies being a fan of Transformers and Ironman. I was a little disappointed with a some scenes of the [human] acting. The Robots themselves seemed to be in line with the universe, which is good.
I also watched Ironman. Make sure to wait after the end credits.

E3 is now an industry only event. I work in the industry and it is so exclusive now that I can't even get in.
The event to watch for is the new E for All show in October.

WHEN IS IT?!?!?!?
Maybe I can announce something about Recognizer's future on the first day.

Ha, come to senses? That's being too generous.
Considering the problems that was going on with the Tron 2.0 games...
Yeeeah, I just don't think there will be chances of a new Tron game for a while. *sigh*
Besides, I don't really think HSM is all that bad if it gives off that positive message that a geek can participate in a musical. :P (I almost tried out for a play in high school but freaked out and didn't show up for the auditions. Didn't have enough confidence.) Sure, it's teenboppy annoying, but at least a positive message isn't bad, right?
...I'm just really looking into too much.

Right now I am getting very very afraid of a new TRON movie coming from the "talent" pool at Disney.
