Here's the $300 drum kit:

Here's some info from IGN's crew, who got to play it:
The major improvements to Rock Band 2 are all things Harmonix wasn't showing to the press. Band World Tour is now just "World Tour" and allows for solo play... and it's online (for real this time!). There are a number of new additions to World Tour mode. Tour Challenges are mini-campaigns that focus on a specific instrument, your favorite artist, preferred genre or even an album. These change and auto-update regularly as do challenges specific to content you've downloaded. So not only do you have the challenges you face to dominate in World Tour, but now you have a set of dynamic challenges that update regularly. Also online is a new Battle of the Bands mode where bands can face off for bragging rights.

Rounding things out is a new Drum Trainer mode. Harmonix realized that while many became drum masters with RB1, just as many struggled to move past medium difficulty. This specialized training mode will give expert tips and teach you how to throw down awesome fills.

Plus, you can download tracks from RB1's disc to your hard drive and play them in RB2, along with all of the DLC songs! And, if you can't get RB2 yet, you can still download all the new DLC and it will play on RB1! So, if you download all the songs available, add those to the RB1 disc songs and add up all of the new RB2 tracks, you'll have HUNDREDS of songs ready to go the first day you get RB2! MTV and Harmonix also announced that they had another 20 songs that they didn't have room for on the disc, so they will release them as FREE DLC in September!

GH instruments will work on RB2 (as the GH guitars did for RB1), so that's a plus if you prefer GH gear!

My favorite thing is that you don't have to buy the new RB instruments if you don't want to! You can just buy the game and rock out!

One thing to note - RB2 comes out in September on the 360 and later in the fall/winter (probably November) for the PS3 and Wii.

I've heard rumors that RB instruments will work on GH:WT. If that's the case, I'll gladly buy GH:WT!

If any of you are Rock Band players on the 360, look me up online and we'll ROCK!!!

Which means if the Wii version doesn't have DLC, we will know that Harmonix hates us.

"But DLC would ruin the quality of the game"

I'm stickin with World Tour, cuz I know it's not gimped. That, and the fact that it's being developed by a studio that knows what quality is.

GH instruments will work on RB2 (as the GH guitars did for RB1), so that's a plus if you prefer GH gear!

I think what you meant to say here is that all instruments compatible with the original RB will be compatible with RB2. Therefore, the PS2 GH guitars will work with the PS2 version of RB2, but the Wii GH Guitars won't work with the Wii version of RB2.

My favorite thing is that you don't have to buy the new RB instruments if you don't want to! You can just buy the game and rock out!

Well, that's if you have the right peripherals. The original RB was also released as game only at launch.

One thing to note - RB2 comes out in September on the 360 and later in the fall/winter (probably November) for the PS3 and Wii.

No PS2 version this time?
It's coming out on 360 so early because of a promotional deal with MS.

I've heard rumors that RB instruments will work on GH:WT. If that's the case, I'll gladly buy GH:WT!

Highly doubtful. GH controllers always plug in like a controller (except for WT's mic), and RB's instruments are always USB.

I'd love to, but I don't have a 360, and if I did, I wouldn't be able to get Live.

I'll get a 360 when Live is free. AND I MEAN FULL GOLD MEMBERSHIP!

What are you talking about?

It was released as a complete set first! I got my set with guitar, microphone, drum kit and game for Christmas. I never saw the separate stuff until a month or two later.

The GH2 guitar for the 360 works with RB1 on the 360. I'm sorry if the Wii doesn't support it, but it does for the 360, so my facts aren't wrong. I'm talking from experience as using the Gibson X-Plorer was the only way I could have 4 players at a time until the Stratocaster was available separately.

How is it that Harmonix doesn't know what quality is when they allow their games to have a longer shelf life and backwards compatability when GH has a new game practically every month (GH: Aerosmith, GH: On Tour, GH: handheld game, GH: Air Guitar, GH: World Tour)? The fact that I can play DLC from RB1 on RB2 is awesome, and the fact that RB1 owners can play RB2 DLC is even greater!

Show me the DLC from GH3 showing up on GH:WT - oh, wait. You can't because it ISN'T THERE! Harmonix so far has listened to the fans and delivered.

Plus, look at the DLC - EVERY SINGLE WEEK there are new songs to download. GH3 has only recently really started having DLC and it's not been that great, honestly. The amount of DLC for Rock Band is ridiculous and it hasn't been out as long as GH3, which has little when the two are compared.

Activision is copying RB's style, so obviously there must be some quality there!

On the 360, Harmonix confirmed that GH instruments would play on RB2, just like the GH guitars play on RB1. If they don't do that on the Wii or PS3, I'm sorry!

There may be a PS2 version, I just didn't see a listing at E3. Actually, since it sells so well, I'm sure there will be a PS2 version.

My GH 360 controllers hook in by USB, so I'm not sure what you're talking about with controller plug-ins versus USB. All 360 plug-ins are USB.

I'm sorry, but everything I have said is true, at least for the 360.

Since the price has come down, you may consider buying one!

Oh.

Same for me on the PS2 version. I've got a Stratocaster, drums, 2 mics (Kareoke Rev and RB), and a Gibson LG.

How is it that Harmonix doesn't know what quality is when they allow their games to have a longer shelf life and backwards compatability when GH has a new game practically every month (GH: Aerosmith, GH: On Tour, GH: handheld game, GH: Air Guitar, GH: World Tour)? Yeah, but I have the Wii version. And Harmonix said in an interview with Nintendo Power that they felt that the quality of the game would be ruined if you could create a character, download additional songs, or play online. I'd quote the exact article, but I can't find the magazine. If I find it, I'll post exactly what they said.

Show me the DLC from GH3 showing up on GH:WT - oh, wait. You can't because it ISN'T THERE! Harmonix so far has listened to the fans and delivered.

Well, once again, because I have the Wii version, I don't get DLC on GH3. However, the Wii version of WT will have DLC, so I'm pretty psyched for that, lol. Also, Metallica's "Death Magnetic" album will be DLC on GH3 in September for 360 and PS3, as well as WT on launch day. Activision also said that they will have weekly DLC, like Rock Band.

Activision is copying RB's style, so obviously there must be some quality there!

Yes, but I know that Harmonix is trying to rip us (Wii owners) off. I literally cannot picture the Wii version of RB2 not being gimped, unfortunately. Especially after playing the Wii version of the original.

Oh well, I guess all will be revealed this December. Will Nintendo customers get TWENTY EFFIN FREE SONGS AT LAUNCH?!?!?!?

Sorry, turned into the Hulk there, lol.

On the 360, Harmonix confirmed that GH instruments would play on RB2, just like the GH guitars play on RB1. If they don't do that on the Wii or PS3, I'm sorry!

Basically, any instruments that work on RB1 will work with RB2.

There may be a PS2 version, I just didn't see a listing at E3. Actually, since it sells so well, I'm sure there will be a PS2 version.

Yay!

My GH 360 controllers hook in by USB, so I'm not sure what you're talking about with controller plug-ins versus USB. All 360 plug-ins are USB.

Oh yeah, forgot about that, lol.

Since the price has come down, you may consider buying one!

When Live is free, I will. I just wouldn't be able to stand not having online multiplayer!

Sorry if some parts of my post above sounded like blatant fanboy rants. I'm really not like that. Sometimes, the evil, high-pitched voice in my head overpowers my better judgement, lol.

It's all good!

I think the problem with the Wii and PS2 versions is a matter of hardware. Neither have a hard drive, so it makes it harder to put more into it.

RB on the 360 can use your hard drive to store your characters, songs and files all in one place. That's an advantage for sure. You'd have to fill up a few memory cards for all of the music.

I did see where they are releasing the Track Pack disc for PS2 and Wii, so you can catch up on some tracks that way for about the same price as if you were downloading them.

Sure, Live isn't free, but $60 for an entire year doesn't bother me. It's $5 a month! It's the price of a game and I get much more out of it, from free demos to themes/gamer pics, trailers, movies (and the new deal with Netflix kicks in this fall, so Netflix folks can download movies onto their 360), XBLA arcade games (with HD support, multiplayer, leaderboards, etc.), a great online community, online marketplace and plenty of exclusives for the system and Live!

To me, it's totally worth it, but that's me!

Fanboys are what all of us are, so no apologies necessary! If we weren't fanboys, we wouldn't be on this website!

Actually, the Wii does have a hard drive. It's a crappy 512 MB hard drive, but still, it's technically a hard drive, lol.

Vicarious Visions (who is developing the Wii version of WT) says that you can save your DLC to an SD card or the system's internal memory (if there's any space left in that thing, lol).

I just can't wait to sing Rebel Yell and Purple Haze.

I said that I would quote the Nintendo Power magazine if I found it, and I just did.

Nintendo Power vol. 229 - Interview with Harmonix producer Matt KellyFor instance, there's no create-a-character mode in the Wii version. Kelly explains, "It was one of the things that we looked at bringing over, and basically, first and foremost, [we wanted to] make sure the four-player band experience is supertight and polished, and basically you won't be able to tell a difference [in] it no matter what console you're playing on." In otherwords, being able to create a character would hurt the overall quality of the game, which the developers wanted to avoid.

First off: What the heck does create-a-character have to do with a four player quickplay match? Just curious..
Second: I can see a difference. The background CD video quality is worse than a Youtube video.
Third: If Activision can successfully realease a copy of Rock Band with all of it's Xbox360/PS3 features on the Wii, then Harmonix has no valid excuse for gimping Rock Band on the Wii. In my opinion, I think it would've looked better had it not been gimped.

That is all.

Well, if create-a-character is all they dropped, it's not THAT big a deal.

Guitar Hero has nothing like that, so it's easier to port. You only can select the characters that are in the game, so it really wouldn't be that different.

At least with Rock Band you're getting the full four-player experience, which is why I prefer it to Guitar Hero. That, and the Stratocaster is a much bigger, better feeling peripheral in my humble opinion. I can't use the GH controllers anymore without having to take time to get used to the smaller, lighter controller.

The small hard drive is a big problem for the Wii. I wish Nintendo would have given it a larger hard drive and HD support. Those two things would make the system a more viable purchase for me, for sure!where to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online

That's not all they took out. You see, the background video isn't made by the game's engine in the Wii/PS2 versions. The background video is already on the game disk, so what you see in the video is all predetirmined. That means, in a four player game, if the drummer fails, the drummer in the background will keep drumming. It's always the same video every time. That means:

No creating your character
No choosing your venue
Completely linear career progression (play the songs in the same order every time. Basically, GH quickplay)

I really hope that Rock Band 2 isn't gimped. If it is, it probably won't hold up so well against WT. The PS2 version being gimped was understandable. But porting it to a next-gen system and charging an extra $10 is unnaceptable. Harmonix was lazy in that situation and wanted to nab a few bucks off of Wii owners. If RB2 is gimped at all, I'm not even going to consider it. I've tried the 360 version of Rock Band, and I liked it way better than the PS2/Wii versions.

I think you and me have different definitions of fanboys. My definition of a fanboy is someone who likes a product so much that they constantly bash any competitor's product. Here's an example of a PS3 Fanboy (Text in ** indicates my notes):

PSRulez Says: *Oh boy I wonder what his favorite game system is*

Portal on the Wii? what a joke! The Wii is so bad in graphics, it would be a stupidity *lol, "stupidity"* to get port the game on the wii as its graphics does not even match the stupid Xbox 360, leave alone the mightyPS3 *lol*. All you will get is a crappy low-res version of the game. Orange box will not fit well on Nintendo's White bos of trash! PS3 is the best. I am getting my Orange Box in a day or two, but all you Wii fanboys will be waiting... keep waiting. as for the Xbox 360 fans, they will get the red ring 'cause of te orange box... hahahaha!

That is my definition of a fanboy. What are your thoughts?
----------------
Also, back on topic, Activision says that all Rock Band controllers will be compatible with World Tour. W00t.

EA's gonna have to do the same with GH controllers, tho, or it'll hurt their reputation.

To me, if you are a super-fan of something in the realm of pop culture, you are a fanboy - plain and simple!

I'm a huge fanboy of Tron, Blade Runner, Star Wars (except for the Special Editions and prequels), and my favorite film of all time - JAWS!

You're looking at a guy who drove 15 hours - ONE WAY - to Martha's Vineyard for the 30th anniversary of Jaws known as JawsFest! Yep. I'm a fanboy!

I don't think it's a derrogatory term. I'm a film geek, totally. I'll gladly tell you as much!

Film geek. Fanboy.

No matter what you call us, we all are passionate about what we love. No way is that a bad thing - unless you start fights over it!
