Yes, K.I.F.T. (Knight Industries Four Thousand) was indeed terrible, but that's because it was a conversion of a then-new Dodge Stealth (really a rebadged Mitsubishi 3000GT) into a 1988 Pontiac Banshee concept car clone.

Apparently, the production company was forced to build a clone because they had asked for the actual concept car but GM wouldn't loan it to them. Not that I blame GM of course; if I were them I wouldn't want anything to happen to the lone example of an extremely expensive concept car either.

However, as lame as the clone is the actual concept car is stunningly beautiful, futuristic, and sleek.

This is the site of a company that builds turnkey K.I.T.T. and K.A.R.R. replicars. They also build a very neat approximation of the Banshee concept. It's only possible to build their close replica starting with a 1993-1997 Firebird/Trans Am, which took design cues from the Banshee concept (which is why they're perfect for building a Banshee replica) but unfortunately was not yet in production when KR2K was shot.

So, is this the same group of people who redid that "Bionic Woman" show, really? That remake was kind of...boring.

Hopefully they don't go with that same approach and use the people from the new Battlestar Galactica in it.

You are correct. The only relationships between the new Bionic Woman and the new Knight Rider are that NBC/Universal are airing them (I'm guessing also footing some of the bill) and that (in all probability) both are utter dreck.

So, since KITT is going to be a Mustang, I guess that means that he's Barricades non-evil twin brother.
