Nah. As you found out, both Traahn's motherboard and mine only accept AGP video cards. And we can't upgrade to newer AMD processors either.
If I'm going to play a game like Bioshock, I want to experience it at its best. If I tried to upgrade my current system, I would still be playing the game nowhere near its best. It's time to start over and build a completely new system. Upgrades to my current system would be a waste of money.
Hopefully, the new motherboards I'm waiting on will be out on time as promised, next month.

Just so you'll know, GTA IV will be a better game on the 360. Why? Well, Rockstar Games themselves have said so because the 360 is getting all of the exclusive online content, including new missions, while the PS3 gets...NONE.
Plus, you can get a 360 Elite (that actually comes with an HDMI cable and a 120 gig HDD) for $479 versus $499 for a PS3 (without HDMI and 100 gig HDD).
I mean, get a PS3 if you want to get a PS3, but if you're doing it for GTA IV, then I'd tell you to get the 360 because you get the extra content.
If you do get a 360, I recommend the following games:
BioShock (duh!)
Gears of War
Lost Planet: Extreme Condition
Dead Rising
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance (Gold Edition, because it comes with the new characters)
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (again, online content only on 360 - not PS3)
All-Pro Football 2K8
Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 1 & 2
Rainbow Six: Vegas
Shadowrun
Virtual Tennis 3 (online play - not found on PS3)
And for XBox Live Arcade:
Marathon: Durendal
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Arcade
Doom
Uno
Golden Axe
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
And by year's end, I'm sure I'll be recommending Halo 3 and, the game I'm most anticipating on ANY console, MASS EFFECT!
I'm not trying to start some PS3/360/PC war, just offering some advice from someone who owns a 360! That's all!

No, get a PS3 so you have Blu-Ray and so Blu-Ray wins the DVD format battle! Besides, you want 1080p, not 1080i capabilities, right? (Let the HD war begin!) muhahahahaa ... just kidding. Sorry Pimpdragon. Haven't seen you for a while, so want to give you a bad time.
To answer your questions: yep, I have a PS3, and no, there's no Soul Reaver on the Playstation Store. Soul Reaver, eh? I have that for my Dreamcast! I do connect to the Playstation Store to see what's new. They seem to usually release new stuff on Thursdays, if I'm not mistaken. At the store they have Mortal Kombat II, Rampage, Q-Bert, Joust (I think), Rampart, and some other old Midway classics. I think they should be free or like $.99 max, but they charge like $4.99 or $5.99 for said classics. WTF? Give me ten or twenty of these games for $5 (or free), imo. At any rate, they also release free playable game demos there to tempt you to buy the full games (like GRAW2, The Darkness, Heavenly Sword and others). They also have downloadable movie trailers and video game trailers. Pretty cool stuff, but I wish they'd release more content more frequently. Maybe this will naturally happen as more games and Blu-Ray movies come out.order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pill

Well, my post was more for Boingo since he's on the fence about a PS3 and was saying GTA IV would be the dealmaker for him.
But, okay, Trahhn. I'll play a little!
The 360 does run in 1080p, Trahhn! HDMI, anyone?!
And all I'm saying is this - if you are buying a video game system because of its ability to play movies...ummmm....maybe that system isn't worth getting?
Because as of right now, there is not one single game I'd buy for the PS3 that is (a.) not already on the 360, running at higher frame rates (see Madden 08 and All-Pro Football 2K8), or (b.) exclusive (see "Lair" and the terrible reviews its been getting as the PS3's "killer app" this holiday season).
And, sorry, but BioShock was developed for the 360 and PC. I don't see it going to the PS3...well...ever. If so, you'll be waiting a good long time for it to do so!
I'm gonna save up for Samsung's dual format player (although I do have the 360's HD-DVD player and it is most pimp - 300 and Batman Begins in HD own your face!) so I can enjoy both, although after this week's annoucement of Paramount and Dreamworks going HD-DVD exclusive, well, to paraphrase Yoda, "Begun this format war has."
GTA IV's creators will tell you that the 360 version is the one to get. You said you were wanting GTA IV, I am just offering some friendly advice by way of the developers, bro!
Oh, and if online stuff is your schtick, the 360's marketplace is pretty NOICE. HD movies for download, tons of TV shows (including every season of South Park and all the Star Trek: Remastered episodes), free demos, game videos, tons of themes, gamer pics, online connectivity to your PC, plus the X-Box Live Arcade (featuring tons of cool old-school/original games formated for HDTVs and featuring online support (Nothing like playing Joust and talking smack)!
It's not perfect, as they do nickel and dime you on stuff, but overall I'm very happy with it as online play has never been a problem! Plus, with the new Windows Vista hookup, you can play games like Shadowrun and, soon, Halo 3 with friends via the 360 and PC!
Oh, and Halo 3 will support, of course, online deathmatches and stuff, but will also support 4-player co-op campaign play! That's AWESOMECROSS, folks!

I don't know if you guys know this or not, but there's a huge controversy going on right now over the copy protection used on the PC version. Bioshock uses the latest version of SecuROM, which not only requires you to activate the game using your internet connection . . . but you also have to be connected when you uninstall. That's because you were limited to two installs. EVER. And if you aren't online when you uninstall, you "lose credit" because the copy protection can't phone home and you lose one of your installs.
Also, the widescreen on both the PC and 360 versions is not implemented correctly. Parts of the image get cut off.
Irrational (yes, I still call them Irrational even though 2K insists they're now 2K Boston and 2K Australia) and 2K say they're going to fix the widescreen, and they've upped the number of installs you can do to five.
I'm glad to hear they're going to fix the widescreen issue, but the copy protection needs to go. Period. Normally I don't mind copy protection because it does help to prevent piracy (at least at first), as long as it's not too annoying. But the copy protection used on Bioshock has gone way too far.
So I urge any of you that have the PC version, to visit the official 2K forum and make yourself heard. Tell 2K to drop the draconian DRM rootkit copy protection they're using on Bioshock.
A shame such an excellent game has been marred by a botched-up release. 2K has done a lot of other faux pas with the release as well, but the copy protection is the kicker.
Be sure to visit PC Gamer magazine's web site for more information about what's going on. The articles on the front page will help you to understand why the copy protection is so bad.

Wow, that's extreme form of copy protection I've ever heard of.
So not impressed with Bioshock right now. o_o Silver was recommending the game to me, but I'm afraid that I'll have to pass as I do not want any form of DRM/Copy Protection limitations on my machine.abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

I read about it. If you legally own the game, don't fret... Wait for a crack to come out.
Extreme copy protecting promotes cracks... and in most cases, promotes piracy. How? Well, many who own the game will want to download it on a torrent site because someone will make it freely available without the activation and other copy protection.... also, some who don't want to buy it due to the copy protection will want to download an illegal version of it instead.
Game companies don't understand that there are those of us who would like to shelf a game for a few years and then play it again. Good example is 'American Mcgee's Alice', 'Doom', 'Duke Nukem 3d' and 'Taco-Man's Revenge'.. lol...
But seriously. it's a shame that when you buy a game these days, that you have to also down load a cracked copy..

Probably. The game really sounded interesting from what Silver was rambling about it.
I'm just really worried about my machine because I've had two rounds of three hardware failures at once. (My house has messed up electricity so it's probably frying some of my parts :| ) I need to pick up a UPS because I'm sure the surge protector is probably not doing very much.
The last thing I need my computer is to be compromised by a rootkit. I know they have good intentions but sometimes, good intentions can be wrecked by the likes of virus/trojan writers. :/
ETA: Talked it over with Silver, I'm probably just going to try out the game on his machine. I'm pretty sure mine can't handle the game anyway. (Not at the right requirements because I haven't really updated my hardware for a while due to not seeing any PC games I want. :X)abortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion

Ken Levine (the boss at Irrational) has talked to 2K, and said that the online activation will eventually be removed. Let's hope it happens sooner, rather than later. The negative press about the rootkit DRM has been very widespread, so here's hoping 2K will back down and remove it completely soon.
And yes, this latest version of SecuROM is a rootkit, no matter what 2K says. It places malformed keys in the Windows registry that are hard to remove, creates files that are also difficult to remove, stays behind even after you uninstall the game, and monitors the active processes on your compter and refuses to run Bioshock if it sees anything it doesn't like. Even running something as simple as Process Explorer prevents you from playing the game unless you reboot!
BTW, fellow member Layer was kind enough to create a video of the game running on his machine. For all of us poor sods who can't run the game at the moment. He did it in DX10 at 1680x1050 with all the details set to maximum, using the latest version of FRAPS. The video is about 158MB and encoded in XViD.
http://files.filefront.com/Bioshock2avi/;8393471;;/fileinfo.html
His computer's specs are the following:
Core 2 Duo E6400 @ 2.13ghz
2GB DDR2 @ 800MHz
8800 GTS 640MB
Vista Home Premium 32-bit
I have to say, the game looks stunning on his setup. Also, it still ran reasonably smooth, considering he was using FRAPS at the same time to record the action. If you have trouble watching the video in Media Player (I did, at any rate) then try using VLC instead.

Anyone who read TronFAQ's post where he mentions 'Process Explorer', get that program. It is very very helpful in finding background programs that shouldn't be there or you just don't want running. If you can not identify the background programs, it has a feature that will instantly google the file/app. Excellent program and it's free. I've been using it for a few years.
Ok... If 2K does remove the copy protection completely after sells hit it's peek, then I sure hope others follow suit. I own Half Life2 and can't play it since my hard drive crashed and had to reformat everything. It thinks I'm using a different computer. It's a good example where extreme copy protection hurts the legal end user. abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion |

That's weird; my understanding was that a person could install their Valve games on any PC that can access Steam. I've reformatted my HDD a bunch of times and have always been able to reinstall all of my Valve games, HL2 included, without a hitch. Maybe you need to contact Valve's tech support. Just so everyone understands, I'm not advocating piracy here. It's not the answer to this situation. Pirating the game hurts Irrational, they lose sales, and then because of that they might not make another game for the PC again.
But this was too damned funny, not to post. It highlights the hypocrisy of 2K. They're selling a game that encourages the player to think, a game where its main antagonist character fights for what he believes are his rights. That his destiny and his city belong to him, and no one else. Yet entertainment companies and game publishers, are trying to tell us that they still own the CDs, DVDs, and games we buy. We're merely purchasing a license to use it. We still don't actually own the product, you see. And this needs to stop.

Very true. Irrational, of all companies, should understand this. Some of them helped make Thief 1 and 2, a series tat is still very alive and strong in the modding community -- 7 or 10 years after they first came out. I always install Thief 2 on my system every time I get a new computer or re-format my hard drive, just because I like to play it every now and then. If I were allowed to only install it 2 or 5 times, I'd never be able to play it 5 years down the road, which is absolutely rediculous.
I'm starting to hate digital copyright laws. Why are the so different than when I buy a car, or speakers, or a stereo, or a desk. Could you imagine having a car usage license where you could only take it to the repair shop 3 times, or could only install 4 new pieces of hardware (stereo, wheels, etc.), or could only start your car 100 times, or could only drive to 5 places per day before it just died on you because you broke the terms of the license?
I hate Madden '08 for the PS3, so I'm trying to return it. Good luck! The store won't let me return it because it's opened. EA doesn't have any documentation that I can find that talks about what to do "if you don't like the game". I had to sit on hold with EA for 20 minutes 'on my cell phone' to talk to a rep to find out my options. Apparently, I have to send EA the opened game and, in return, they'll send me a sealed game which I can return to the retailer for a refund.
That just seems unacceptable. And all because it's digital media that people could pirate. Make me waste my time, money and resources to get a refund for a game they poorly made. I swear that no less than 75% or 80% of the assets used in Madden '08 are the same as Madden '07. '08 looks like a free or $20 patch or expansion pack to '07... not a next-gen $60 game.

I haven't decided yet, if I want to buy a motherboard based on the Intel X38 chipset or AMD RD790 chipset. Both types of boards are supposed to be coming out around the same time, at the end of September.
I'm leaning toward Intel this round, because Core and Penryn are proven performers while the Phenom is a question mark. AMD keeps claiming the Phenom will beat Core, but I want to see benchmarks. Unfortunately, while the motherboards that accept Phenoms may be coming out next month, the chips won't arrive until the end of the year.
Then there's the question of whether the first RD790 motherboards will have Socket F or Socket AM2+. I want Socket AM2+ . . . Socket F will be too expensive.
From what I know, most of the motherboards based on these chipsets will only have one PCI slot. They seem eager to phase out PCI altogether.

Having worked on the front lines of copy supression at Activision and Disney gigs, I can say this.
I watched a great game, TRON 2.0, DIE on the shelf because of piracy. 24 hours after I said GO to the Gold Master it was on the streets illegally.
There were more people playing the multiplayer game than had actually bought copies at one point early on. As I recall we figured 1 in 4 was a legit copy.
People can complain about Copy Supression software all they want, but the simple fact is that because of theft by players, copy supression became a requirement.
People have found a way to rationalize stealing, and companies have to fight back. The choice was not the best thing for the industry, but it was probably the only real option.
Stealing creates Copy Supression. Simple as that. There is no going back now. Gamers brought it on themselves.abortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion
