You know... I really have to retract my statements against Tim Burton.

Since 'Alice' has been back in discussion (and our talk about Tim Burton's world), there are some things that I now regret saying.

In this (self imposed) aspect of the man's image. He is really more delightful than I once thought he was. I owe all this to a movie I recently seen (and now respect due to real world conflicts) for the 2nd time... "The Nightmare Before Christmas".

It shows that this is a man (regardless how dark his is), really has a good heart after all. At least that is the message I got from his story.

Ok.. Back on subject...

Todd... Beware of the 'Chess Sets'.... Thats all I'm going to say.. lol.. it's not a spoiler...

I hope you receive the same experience and love of the game like we have.. where to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online

beware the endless level of watery doom, too.

That's the one that made me quit for like..months.

I'm not saying anything else about it, though. Just beware.

Heheh...I wouldn't erm...advise that.

It's..very...disturbing. Fun and addictive but really really creepy...

Well, I'm not exactly normal. I do enjoy a good scare. This may sound odd, but if I actually enjoy getting spooked and creeped out playing a good, scary game.

I think I need to avoid this thread for a while. Spoilers keep jumping out. Probably just the smaller ones, but still. I keep trying not to catch a glimpse of anything I do no yet know about the game. I do prefer to know as little as possible about a game (aside from general premise) before I play it. Even when researching this game, I tried to just get just enough info (but not too much) that would let me know whether or not it would be something I might enjoy. I appreciate everyone's input and advice.

I have no doubt this game will kick butt.

Please continue to reminisce and share your favorite things in the game. I'll be back to the thread once I've gotten though the game, or at least some good, quality time in it. It may be a while though. Just not enough free time in my day these days.

If anyone finds themselves with too much time on their hands... can I have some?

This one is tough because every level is great. One I liked a lot was the maze in the hedges where you have to guide that insane kid. That one was cool.

My least fav was the swimming level where you had to follow that guy who was half turtle and half donkey or something. I kept getting attacked.

For some reason, I have. I think it's the length of time that passes that makes me mess up because without fail, I'll be replaying it over and over.

American McGee knew what we was doing. Here is some info on the guy if you are interested in reading.

I've read that article, I really like his earlier works on Doom II, and the first two Quake games (especially Quake II, I friggin' love that game)

I wasn't really big into Quake due to my addiction to 'Descent' (ok.. that was spelled wrong.. I think..) but it rocked because Quake was the first 'TRUE' 3D poly FPS ever made. I played many death matches on dial up with that game and loved it so very much.

You know? I might try and re-install it to see if anyone plays it anymore.. Wow.. it's been such a long time.

Since I'm in the realm of nostalgia... I have to bring up the "11th Hour". A really excellent Myth-Type game that I still play today. Don't forget about 'Dragon's Lair' or Dragon's Lair 3D...

Ok.. you got me started.. lol..

Sadly, not many people play Quake online said, because it's a real great multiplayer game.

It's funny because I'm not really a multi-player online guy at all, but I do have to admit that Quake and Unreal were the best.

Lan games for most games I've played were super awesome..where to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online

I'm BACK!

** takes off Terminator disguise **

Ok, I finally made some time to play this game. I started it about a week and a half ago and just completed it a short while ago. The game wasn't quite as long as I was expecting.

** WARNING - SOME (LIGHT) SPOILERS MAY BE IN THIS POST SO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK IF YOU HAVE NOT PLAYED THE GAME YET - SKIP TO FINAL PARAGRAPH OF THIS POST FOR TODD'S SPOILER-FREE BOTTOM LINE **

The game has some beautiful imagery, amazingly detailed graphics (especially for a game that was released in 2000). Some of the imagery was even a little disturbing - I was very impressed! Although the polygon count and models were lower resolution than today's games, for what they were and for the time they were made, the graphics really were very good, aside from some very lack-luster (rushed-looking) animation in some areas. Most of the main character animation was very good.

The music, mood, look and feel of the game was dark, evil, twisted, and very cool! The story was compelling and there were some very dark and unexpected moments - especially when certain characters unexpectedly get killed off. I was genuinely surprised by that and LOVED it!

Sadly, for all the very cool imagery, beautifully designed levels, fitting music, dark concept, etc., I felt the weakest part of this game was the actual game play itself. It was an almost constant attack by bad guys rushing you. That is part of most action games, but that seemed to be the main part of this game as opposed to just a portion of it.

I would have much preferred something with more of an adventure feel to it rather than constantly battling my way through the cards and other bad guys - some of which were annoying difficult to defeat until obtaining the Jabberwock's Eye Staff.

In that respect, I am disappointed in this game. With all the VERY cool things in there, the game play itself was less than impressive and seemed tedious and not very entertaining many times throughout the game. I think I wore out my F4 key (quick save) because I had to quick-save after surviving EVERY bombardment as I died very frequently during game play. I died WAY too much - it was very annoying. I started out playing on the hard level, but about 1/3 the way through, I could not continue, so I had to start over on the medium setting. Even on that setting, the game was quite difficult, even to an annoying factor at times. Again, I think that is in part because the main part of game play was just get attacked constantly and survive. That type of game play worked in early 80's 2D games, but doesn't make for a good modern gaming experience in my book.

There were some well placed BOO moments in the game, which nearly made me crap my pants. That was pretty damn cool! I mean, I LOVE a good scare in a game. There should have been more of those, although too many would probably detract from the fun of being scared out of my skin.

A couple of really annoying things on the technical end: I love wide screen aspect and don't mind a letter-boxed view. BUT I hate when the developer's idea of wide screen is simply SQUISHING the damn image vertically so that everything looks short and fat. WTF? The whole intro video sequence AND final ending video sequence were both SQUASHED and it distracted me and detracted from the enjoyment of those parts. Even the "Rogue" intro to the game was squashed. Who in their right frickin' mind thinks SQUASHED looks good? Get a clue, guys. Go back to school and PAY ATTENTION when they teach you about a little something called ASPECT RATIO! I'm sorry - I really hate squashed or stretched looking video and usually refuse to watch it when I stumble upon a video like that. (And yes, I remember the short squashed recognizer sequence in TRON and it annoyed me even when I was a kid.)

All in all, I did enjoy the game, although I'd have to say it was a bit of a let-down. Hat's off
