Batman forever was not his. Batman Returns was actually an awesome film, but MUCH darker and bleaker and less comic than the first. It is a true Burton film, and less appreciated for that reason.

Don't get me wrong.. I am not a Burton fanboy. Planet Of The Apes is probably my most hated movie of all time.

DAVID LYNCH.

He hasn't done anything in a while, and it'd be cool to see what he would do with this.

It would be WAY cooler than the game. WAY WAY cooler.

There are just some parts where I totally think that David Lynch would do beautifully, paying tribute to what it's made after, and yet adding his own strange dementedness to the movie.

Don't get me wrong, I love Tim Burton. His films seem like they would be too kid-friendly for this. American McGee's Alice shouldn't be.

How perfect would a David Lynch-esque Cheshire Cat be?!

I've only skimmed the recent posts in attempt to avoid game spoilers. I already caught a couple that I wish I hadn't, but that's what I get for poking around a thread about something I have yet to experience.

It looks like the focus has turned in to that of the film adaptation of the game.

According to Wikipedia, Marcus Nispel is slated to direct the film with Sarah Michelle Gellar in the lead role. The project seems to have stalled out though.

I'm not familiar with Marcus Nispel's work, but I agree with whoever first said that Tim Burton would make a great choice of director for this.

Not having ever played the game, the imagery I've seen seems to be right out of his mind anyway. Mr. Burton doesn't always hit a home run, but some of my favorite films and most repeatedly watched films are those that he's done very well.

Of course, I've been on a big Tim Burton kick since seeing Corpse Bride recently. Did a lot of reading about him in articles I've found on the net. I really love his dark style and twisted application of ideas. How I'd love to work on a Tim Burton project some day. Hell, I'd be happy just having the opportunity to be a key grip or boom operator on set!

Erm. Charlie and the Chocolate factory is not a remake. It's a better movie version of Dahl's book by the same title.
Willy Wonka is something else, entirely.

I agree, David Lynch would also be great for this sort of film, he's great at doing scary/disturbing films (Se7en instantly springs to mind)order abortion pill http://unclejohnsprojects.com/template/default.aspx?morning-after-pill-price where to buy abortion pill

For me, I saw the Batman films after the first as being more of a celeb fanfare than anything... but thats just me. My all time fav film that he did was Beetlejuice... There were a few others I liked, but like you I'm not a Burton fanboy..

Still... I don't know if he could deliver on this project if he was to direct.... but then again, it is possible he could make it better.... but if he ever uses Jonny Depp in a film again, then I'm going on a shooting spree. Well, I believe Tim Burton would do a good job on this film, but if Jack Spa....I mean Johnny Depp was in this film, I'd be quite displeased >

Johnny Depp isn't in every one of Tim Burton's films. He certainly isn't the one who would make the Alice film not worth watching. He's a good actor, really...people just have this thing against him because he's all attractive and everyone has these crushes or whatever.

He's still a perfectly fine actor...and actually a smart guy. Which is why Burton is friends with him.

I just don't want some kid-friendly version of something that shouldn't be.

And now days, that's all Tim Burton does. Kid friendly.

I'm not anti-that. I just don't want it for American McGee's Alice...sorry.

Dislike for Jonny Depp?

I can understand disliking him back in the days when 21 Jump Street was all the rage and his photo lined the lockers of every girl in school, by why now?

Ok, everyone's got their own opinion on things - everyone's allowed that.

I personally really like his work (didn't watch 21 Jump Street - WAY too hip for me at the time).

I dig the fact that he tends to take strange, quirky parts in films that are almost never blockbuster successes (not including the recent Pirates films). I dig that he's not afraid to take the roles that most "hot" stars would never even consider. I dig that he's not in to mainstream filmmaking (as in the trendy, popular stuff, again, not including Pirates).

He's a really good actor and not one of those actor's who's basically the same character in everything he does. You know what I'm talking about - those actors who get paid the most to play the same role (different name) in pretty much everything they're in. Depp brings life to an array of different characters, each with their own unique personalities, quirks and presence. I can't say that I dig all of his work, but he has quite a range of acting skills - something that Hollywood doesn't often embrace these days.

I can see wanting to puke if Tom Cruise gets cast in another film, ever. But Jonny Depp is definitely a positive going for any project he's involved with in my opinion.

Not me. I can't stand the guy. Yes, he is a good actor and he makes an excellent pirate... but I don't like people that go to another country and starts putting down mine. Johnny Depp and the Dixie Chicks and burn for all I care.

Ahh - I got ya. 'Nuff said.

I didn't realize that was the reason.

I don't take political advice from actors. I mean they're JUST actors - what do they know in terms of politics? Rosie O'Donnell is a perfect example of that. They've all got their opinions (usually based on lack of knowledge of the big picture) and that's all they can talk about - opinions based on small pieces of a larger picture they know little about.

I can respect this view or dislike for an actor though.

Yeah... I hate anything that has to do with politics... Maybe I was being too harsh because I shouldn't have said that I can't stand him, but I should have said that I can't stand his views... I hate politics too. It is the art of persuasion by means of fact-distortion and deception. It really sickens me.

We should (all) probably let this thread get back in to the subject of American McGee's Alice now.

Yes, let's all talk about American McGee's Alice!

And now....let's start quoting lines from the game! (unless that counts as spoilers?)

"How fine you look when dressed in rage. Your enemies are fortunate that your condition is not permanent. And you're lucky too. Red eyes suit so few"

You'll find out where that line's from when you play the game Todd

My fav. quote from the game, and I use rather often.

My copy of the game arrived in the mail today.

BUT the package sounded like it had loose parts inside. I hadn't planned on opening it right away, but I wanted to make sure the discs were not damaged before my return time expired. There was one loose disc and there was a very slight blemish on it. I installed the game and it seemed to install just fine, so that's good.

I'm a little annoyed that the game says to consult the in-package booklet... which I did NOT receive with my game. The game appears to be brand, spakin' new - never opened, and aside from the slight blemish on CD 1, no other marks on the CD's, so it ain't a used copy (and I ordered a new copy anyway). But still, no booklet. I'm sure everything I need is in the PDF on the CD, so that's adequate, but I would have preferred a booklet that I could thumb through on the spot when I wanted.

I'm still working my way through Tomb Raider: Legend and have a completely unopened copy of Resident Evil 4 sitting just a couple feet to my left. I tend to only play one game at a time, and fully complete it before moving on to another. But I couldn't very well install this game without at least peaking at a little bit of it.

I bypassed the intro cinematic (because I'll enjoy that when I'm going to really get in to the game) and just played the opening level for about 5 minutes (on the "hard" setting).

The graphics are definitely dated looking BUT still look incredibly awesome! I love the dark style and all the cool and very animated things around the environment. Moving around was pretty easy to pick up. It looks as if the Cheshire Cat is the mysterious guide though the game - a pretty cool way to do it. Speaking of Cheshire Cat, I was smiling like one as I played through the few minutes that I did. Dated or not, this game looks frickin' SWEET and I can tell I'm really going to enjoy spending time in the dark twisted world within it!

It was hard to shut the game down after just a few minutes, but there's no time for gaming tonight. I plan to complete my adventure in Tomb Raider: Legend first, which will likely take me several more weeks or months at the pace in which I play, or more accurately put - because I have such limited time for gaming these days.

I look forward to when I finally get to spend some quality time in this game. It appears to be one of those games best played when alone in the house, at night, and with all the lights turned off. My kind of game!

Heheh...I wouldn't erm...advise that.

It's..very...disturbing. Fun and addictive but really really creepy...

One of the characters that kept scaring me was the Duchess...*shudder*

That is another awesome quote... and the way Cat says it shows that they paid attention and hired great voice actors. The British accents in this game adds to the effect. Makes me wish I could do a good English accent. I wished I had Cat's voice.

"I heard self reliance is a virtue. Now... you've heard it" - Cat

"If ignorance is bliss, I must be ecstatic." - Alice

The coolest one liners 'EVER' is in this game.

I'm really happy that there are some people here who has played this. It really it good to share the experience. I never even heard of the game till about 6 months after it came out and I was dating a girl who was working at EB games in my town. She suggested it to me and said that I just had to play it. I'm so glad I did... and it's funny because this really isn't my style of art and games, but I loved it so very much.

American McGee is now in China (for what reason, I don't know) but rummer has it that he is working on another fairy tale game and using the same style as he did in Alice. Last of his games I played was 'Bad Day In L.A.'.... but I didn't like it much.... I think that game was rushed a little bit... but it was funny..
