Favorite Movies!

on Tuesday, June, 05, 2007 4:59 PM
I want to know what are your favorite movies (besides TRON) and why you love 'em! Please post a list of your favorite movies and a very brief description on why you like 'em!

Some movies I really like (2001: A Space Odyssey, Star Wars, TRON), are not mentioned because I truly think that all of you guys have seen them.

Here's my movie list (this list is in no particular order):

Sci-Fi
------------------------------------

The Fifth Element
(A absolutely awesome Sci-Fi flick with Bruce Willis, Milla Jovovich, Gary Oldman and Ian Holm. Very awesome special effects, great storyline and action! One of my all-time faves!)

Metropolis
(Granted, it has some boring parts, but it's storyline and special effects are what jump started the Sci-Fi movie genre as we know it today!)

Forbidden Planet
(This amazing movie, thought slightly dated, features a great storyline and awesome effects. One of the rare Sci-Fi films to raise the envelope!)

The War of the Worlds (1953)
(Even though it is a B movie, this sci-fi classic is still one of my favorites. The remake fails in comparison to this film)

Westworld
(Another kick-butt movie! My favorite Michael Crichton film!)

WarGames
(Very suspenseful and exciting with an MCP-like computer rip off! Great writing!)

Independence Day
(Don't listen to those critics! This is a really good movie! :P)

Comedy
---------------------

Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit
(One of the best animated movies EVER! Be sure to check out the Wallace & Gromit shorts first!)

Rocket Man
(While I don't care for the gross-out humor in this (which is few and far in between), the jokes and slapstick are hilarious! A very underrated Disney film!)

It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World
(Almost every comedian from the '50s and '60s appear in this hilarious movie! The Garage destruction scene, the Airplane scenes, car chases and climax will literally make you ROFL!)

Airplane!
(It's says it's rated "PG", but it's pretty adult-oriented yet hysterical!! Trust me on this one!)

Thriller
--------------------

Eraser
(A great thriller featuring everyone's favorite Govinator! James Cann does a great job playing the bad guy. Great action sequences!)

-------------------

More movies to come!!!

One's I dig the DVD's out and watch multiple times:

* Star Trek: The Motion Picture (I like the music, graphics and concept of that movie. I think it's better than II to be honest)

* Dune (David Lynch's version of Dune. AWEsome!)

* Blade Runner (Great cyberpunk film nior)

* Alien (I just love the concept of the derilict spacecraft and something just waiting to get them)

* Nightmare Before Christmas (Music and stop motion makes this a great film)

* Raider's Of The Lost Ark (Non-stop adventure from the get go)

* Terminator 1 & 2 (Love the concept of robots taking over in the future)

* Blazing Saddles ("Hold on a second while I whip this out!")

* Airplaine! (Funniest movie ever. And don't call me Shirley)

* The Incredibles (Love the animation and 60's style. The whole film is just so well done.)

* Lord Of The Rings (Epic films true to the book.)

I'm sure there's more....

A Series of Unfortunate Events (Jim Carrey is hilarious)
Harry Potter (I'm a Pothead lol.)
Spiderman 3 (Action packed with great effects)
Metropolis (A great Sci-Fi)
Howl's Moving Castle (I think the best Japanese film)
I Spy (Owen Wilson.... Eddie Murphy... need I say more?)
Click (You can control time with a remote? Awesome)

I didn't quite like this movie. I enjoyed Spirited Away much more. I just got kinda bored with the whole storyline.

Let's my favorite movies here. Not in any particular order and with the exclusions of what sinister had mentioned.

Murder In Space a whodoneit - an awesome movie I had seen that was made for tv in 1985. Then it came out to video a year or so later. Well made and very intriguing. I remember seeing the update to this with the cast members about the film. And even the actors and actresses hard a hard time trying to figure out who did it. It was one of those kind of mind teasers until the very end.

Clue The Movie - Based on the board game clue in north America and in other parts like France and Quebec Cluedo. Loved this one with Christopher Lydd(Taxi drunk bum), Tim Curry, totally funny with a zanny cast of character playing the popular roles of the game with three surprising endings for it.

I'll append more later. These are the two that I can think of right now.

Great film choices, Boingo! Who cannot like The Terminator and LOTR? I can't believe I forgot mention "The Incredibles"! That's my favorite PIXAR movie.

That's a really funny movie! I always love the bit with the singing telegram person getting shot.

"I am your Singing Telegram!" *gunshot*

Here's some other movies that just came to mind:

Bullitt:
(A suspenseful cop flick with Steven McQueen, Robert Vaughan and the classic Highland Green '68 Ford Mustang and Black '68 Dodge Charger car chase that defined car chases in movies)

- Tron

- Tron

- uhh Tron
(saw it so many times, can't even count it anymore)

- Dune
(only the original, not the remake(s) (they were bleh in some way) )

- The Fifth element
(very freaky, intresting production design and mixture between styles and cultures.)

- Bladerunner
(what to say, this film -is- cult! Also gives something to think about)

- Logan's run
(intresting story, gives something to think about as well. it's retro)

- Brazil
(mad film, intresting styling and production design. weird but cool story)

- Hero
(very stylish, also like a lot of the asian culture and history. also fan of eastern films if they were made in a good way)

- Lost in Space (remake)
(Story isn't very innovative, but everything was uber-designed, so can give some impulses sometimes)

- Time Masters (animation from 1982)
(i -loved- that film even i really hadn't the chance just to see it once, so i'm still searching for a copy or dvd or whatever).

- Matrix
(i know, a lot have the opinion that only the first part was good, the others would suck. but when you watched all parts very clearly several times, you find out more and more hidden information, and soon the things just didn't looked that freaky anymore and have more sense then you would have guess)

- Star Wars
(don't need an explanation, does it? Everyone knows it and likes it more or less)

- Donnie Darko
(so strange and weird, but if you like such stuff you need to see it)

- Minority Report
(k, Mr. Scientology is playing in there, but the design and idea of the film was cool so i like it)

- I, Robot
(cool production design and at least the story is from Asimov, one of my favourite authors)

- Riddick, Chronicles of
(That film was so uber in many ways, but nice, nice, nice. Nice design of things and cultures, nice action, etc. I like if you watch a film that create a wish inside of you that you want to have more information about the whole universe)

- Dark City
(very intresting story, freaky characters, nice story idea)

- Akira
(a great animation!)

- Lord of the Rings
(most like LotR, so do i)

Summa sumarum:
I like SciFi/Fantasy, retro-style, everything where there is a cool or intresting production-design, a well created story-universe or at least a story with a nice turn or an unawaited end. Everything that gives new creative impulses or inspirations.abortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion

I agree with this one. I don't actually own the DVD, but the movie was very well done... and stars Jennifer Connely (mrow!)

I've seen the end of "Logan's Run", but not the whole thing. I wanna see it though.

I haven't seen Brazil because it sounded too freaky for my taste. LOL But I have seen Time Bandits and The Adventures of Baron Munchausen

Technically these films are by Terry Gilliam who did the drawing segments and writing for Monty Python, but not Monty Python movies.

If you like them, check out 12 Monkeys... awesome Terry Gilliam movie.

Billy and Mandy? How can you watch that crap? If a retard married his sister, had a baby, and the baby ate a brick the pooped it out, that poop would be 100 times smarter than Billy and Mandy and its creator.

Sometimes when I watch B&M, I get grossed out, but you gotta hand it to them when they make a character directly based off of Ash from Evil Dead.

Or the other one within that movie. When Mr. Boddy disappears. And Tim Curry Says" Look!!! Mr.Body's Body is gone!.." Another dead body head drops to the floor in the entrance way to the library.

I neary wet my pants on that one.
