What's really wierd is that the majority of my cartoon watching in the 80's was Buggs Bunny & Roadrunner. I didn't really get into the classic 80's cartoons all that much at the time. I should have ;P

I ask you, what guy didn't dig Cheetara?
Hey Todd, you're right; this thread rocks! |
Cheetara ROCKED! Loved Thundercats and almost wished I was one so I could get to know Cheetara a little better.
Fun fact: I often work "Snarf" in to passwords. I wasn't a big Snarf fan or anything, but the word is fun and it has been used as part of many of my passwords over the years. I'm also notorious for using very long passwords - in excess of 30 characters! The guys at work pick on me about that.

Wow.
There was a time when no one could out type me. I was the undisputed king of really, really long posts. In recent months I haven't had as much time to spend here, so they've gone down in length (most of them).
Times have changed and there is a new TRON-Sector Long Post Champion. That honor belongs to you, Pulsewoman.

The depth to your posts is amazing, Pulsewoman. With all you've shared, it is very obvious that you do indeed belong here among us.

Looney Toons were my favorites in the late 70's. There really wasn't much to choose from then, but they were always fun.
Every day after shool, there would be a half hour of Looney Toons cartoons. I watched them and loved them. After that, there was no more kids' programming for the day. That was it. No cartoon network. No bazillion other kids shows to be seen all over the place. One half hour, period. I kind of feel old saying that.where to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online

Wow, I totally do not remember that one at all. What year was it on?
Edit: Never mind, I looked it up. Kidd Video ran from 1984 to 1986 on NBC.
Come to think of it, I think I remember seeing advertisments for this in comic books. Remember how the big 3 networks - at least, in the NYC area - would advertise their Saturday morning lineups in comic books?
I guess I must've been watching something else on another channel whenever this was on.where to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online "We are, after all, not God." - Cmdr. I have only vague memories of this show. It came on well after my Saturday morning glory days had passed. I remember seeing bits of it or maybe commercials for it. That's about it.

It was a short lived show. I thought it was really cool as a kid because Duran Duran was still famous and this sort of mimicked it a little.
One thing I did hate about the show was some of the music videos they tried showing at the end of the show. Either the lyrics were bad or the video was just way too cheesy (even for the 80's). But their target audience were between 6 thru 14 so I guess that explained why they didn't take the development very serious... but the production of the show was well done.
Oh... Just for the record.... I SOOO HATED "SAVED BY THE BELL"... I know this isn't related but for some reason I felt compelled to say it... |

You know - most of my favorite shows were short lived. It's like the curst of Todd or something. If Todd really digs it, it is usually doomed to a short life and/or unsuccessful release (for film). Much like TRON.

Very few shows were cheesier than Saved by the Bell. The acting wasn't great. The stories were sappy and not very realistic. The show was kind of cartoony in presentation at times even. Oddly enough, I rather enjoyed it. Don't know why. Just watched it a lot back in the early 90's. I admit - the show was just bad... but when flipping through channels and happen across it, and I always camped for the episode.

Aww, thank you, TheReelTodd. Heh. I'm often acknowledged as the most long-winded person on any board I join, but not usually in quite such a _nice_ way. I promise I'll take good care of it. But it's appropriate that I have some kind of crown in general, though. I mean, I _am_ the Mistress Control Program. BOW DOWN BEFORE YOUR QUEEN, BOW DOWN, I SAY...
(whacks self upside the head) Whoah, what just happened there? Sorry. Little glitch. It won't happen again.
Answering other stuff that was said since I was in this thread...
1. I liked Cheetarah too, but I wanted to _be_ her, not...be "with" her. I remember when we first moved into the first place we lived in in Utah, we had this big backyard full of all kinds of random fruit trees and stuff scattered around and an old barn. My brother and I instantly took over the hay-loft as our "special clubhouse" and upon finding some old cardboard sheets of roughly 8 1/2 by 11 size, I got out the crayons and started drawing all kinds of posters to decorate the place with, which we hammered in with some rusty nails that were there in a box in the corner and a rock. :P (Whoo, we were so high tech.)
Anyway, what does this have to do with Thundercats? The poster on the outside, right by the door, had a picture of the Thundercats symbol and proclaimed the loft as "The Cats' Lair". Yep.
Also, my Star Trek universe character, Captain Swift, is a species seen in the novels--they are felinoid, but more like _wild_cats than domestic ones (as with Lt. M'Ress in the animated series.) Swift is, of course, a humanoid cheetah. Gee, I just guess what THAT was inspired by?
Later, I went off on one of my TRON kicks and went around either writing fanfics or _sneaking_ in Tron-ish elements to other stuff, seeing how much I could get away with. In 1998 I wrote a story for our Trek club's fanzine/newsletter thingie which I called "Cyberspace: The Final Frontier?" The end result of a rather odd accident involving a long-distance transport and the holodeck is that a virtual, program version of Swift is created and ends up _living inside the ship's computer_!
Her name, ALSO in Tronish tradition, is not only appropriate for an alter-ego of somebody named "Swift", but is also a computer term:
ZIP!
Her name is always written in all-caps like that, too...she started off as a TRON-style existence as a program inside the computer who could think; now that we have holo-emitters all over the ship (evidently...wait, who put those there?!) I will have a hard time resisting the impulse to have her do some Automan-like Silly Hologram Tricks. In other words, not trying to act like a human the way most Star Trek universe holograms do, but _exulting_ in her alien-ness! Walking through walls frequently, laughing as the bad guys shoot straight through her without effect, making a really hard right turn in a shuttlecraft with the inertial dampeners off...
Well, maybe not that last one. (snicker)
2. I have vaguely heard of Kidd Video, but haven't seen it. Huh. Interesting.
3. And as for Saved by the Bell...I am ashamed to admit that I actually watched a few episodes of that. I got off of it the second better stuff came along/I became less addicted to the TV in general, but I did watch it a few times.
Also, I watched a lot of Loony Toons and also Hanna Barbera cartoons in the '80s. Not all of what I watched as a kid was up to date. I saw a lot of older stuff too. Oh, and some of those old Disney shorts as well. Yeah.

Oh, I also couldn't stand that show. Shows like 'Saved by the Bell' are neither imaginative nor innovative and I tend to assiduously avoid shows like that. "We are, after all, not God." - Cmdr. J. J. I think these are the droids we were looking for...
Pole Position - the cartoon (I fell in love with the theam song so long ago, and it's still cool.)
M.A.S.K
Dragon's Lair (Yep... They did make a cartoon)
Mysfits remix (just for giggles)...

Shirt Tails: Remember 'em, but didn't watch 'em.
Droids: Yeah, this was a cool cartoon. Wasn't there an Ewoks cartoon, also? I'm sure I watched them both.
Pole Position: Oh, I'm with you on this one. Great theme, cool cartoon! I was going to post this one, but you beat me to it!
M.A.S.K.: Yeah, I liked this one a lot, also. Check back a few posts to see how much...
Dragon's Lair: Wow, I just barely remember this one. I'm sure there was also a Space Ace cartoon on Saturdays. I loved the games in the arcade, and I even picked up Dragon's Lair II: Time Warp and Space Ace on DVD-ROM for the PC; I haven't gotten around to picking up the original Dragon's Lair, but it'll happen.
Now for another episode of 'This is so cute, yet it's also cool, so even guys couldn't help but watch it':
