on Thursday, March, 01, 2007 5:28 PM
This isn't mine... I did not post this on YouTube...

With that said...

Here is 30 mins of some of the best cartoon intros from the 80's... Someone who subscribed to my channel on YouTube had this posted on his fav. list and I just fell in love with it...

So without much more ado, here it is..

Wow!

What memories... what WONDERFUN memories!

Many of those cartoons were in my weekly (and some daily) regimen of cartoon entertaiment!

A few were somewhat vague in my memory though.

Didn't care for Bravestar... or just don't remember it.

Heathcliff and Marmaduke... what? Don't remember that one either... or just didn't watch it (didn't look very good from the intro).

Heathcliff itself, remember that one, and the very catchy theme song!

Only vague memories of Gilligan's Planet. Didn't watch it much.

Had to call it quits on the Voltron bit... hard not to get stuck on that classic jem of yesteryear's cartoon greats! But don't have time for it all right now.

AWESOME find and post, Qix77!

Thanks...

I wasn't a fan of BraveStar... I liked the concept but didn't like the cheezy-ness of the of show.

I soooo agree with Heathclif... I don't remember the first one, but the one with him and Riff-Raff was sooo awesome. Great memories watching that show after school.

Transformers is in there too... so is Thundar...

Hey qix a total of four shows I don't recognize over here as for shows that was in that clip there. Bravestar, danger Mouse, video land, and legends of Zelda are the ones that I don't even remember seeing up here in Canada. Now I am wondering if it was the CRTC may have just said no to those ones. the others I have either in French or in English over here.

To compute or not to compute that is the question at hand. Tis nobler to compile in C++ or in TASM.

Don't feel bad, buddy... There is a lot that I don't either know or remember. However, the Zelda cartoons was suppose to be the Friday special of the "Super Mario Super Show" which was only as good as the cartoon.

I don't remember Danger Mouse... In fact, I prefer Bullwinkel..

BTW: About shows from Canada, does anyone know where I can find DVD's of SCTV? I'm such a "Bob and Doug: McKenzie Bros" fan...

Strange Brew is one of my favorite movies ever. I'm going to start a Bob and Doug topic.

EDIT: As for DVDs, they're okay, but they edited stuff out from the original masters (stuff like unlicensed music, etc.)

EDIT-EDIT: My think my dad was unimpressed with the SCTV DVDs that he has.

Sorry for going off-topic. I can't help it, so...

AAAAAAAA!! Oh my _god_! Such memories! Things I didn't even know I remembered (such as the Heathcliff theme song, for one) Oh my HECK this so rocks on toast! I took notes on what I thought of the clips as it went by, but it ended up being too much for one post, _that's_ how much I ended up gushily reminiscing!

Let's just say...while some of these I never saw or even avoided, others are in my "You Do Not Want to KNOW How Fangirlish About This I Am. SQUEEEEEEEE!!!" category. Where it got into my _brain_ and made me write stories, draw pictures, spout the catchphrases so much around my family and friends that they started hating me, dress up as the character for Halloween! Etc. I'm a creature of enthusiasms. I get INTO things, passionately, and enjoy every second of it. Then I get INTO the next thing. But in general, if I really loved something once, I always love it in the back of my heart.

Among these are the seperate Zelda cartoons from the Super Mario show (Link costume, Triforce symbols in the corner of every school assignment, saying "Well, exCUUUUUUUUUUSE me, Princess!" every chance I got...) The Littles (fannish then, became fannish again when seeing it recently on some cable channel), the D&D cartoon (HUGE fan, both then and now), and DuckTales (made a whole website about it!)

But what, no Smurfs? Gilligan's Planet, for pete's sake, and no _Smurfs_? How about some girliness, like maybe Jem or even Rainbow Brite?
...okay, maybe just Jem. Rainbow's probably pushing it.
How 'bout Dinosaucers? Am I the only one here who remembers that?

The ones (from the clip) I've actually seen some of?
Inspector Gadget
The Real Ghostbusters
Heathcliff (by himself, not with Marmaduke)
Danger Mouse (but not until recently)
DuckTales (same)
The Littles
Pac Man...also Q-Bert and the Saturday Morning Supercade. Even then, I was INTO videogames and did as best as I could to act like part of a Fandom. It was a sign--I'd _have_ to end up here eventually, wouldn't I?
Legend of Zelda...TOTALLY!
Beetlejuice...a bit.
D&D CARTOON! WHOOO!!!

And to end this post with a couple tokens of my fangirlness...

Calisota or Bust! My DuckTales site. Ignore the fact that I haven't updated in forever...I'm sorry. Be sure to look at the page for the episode called "The Last Adventure of Scrooge McDuck"--the gallery isn't much, as it's one of the ones I was just casually taking random pictures from before I got the _idea_ to have a whole website, and I haven't gone back to it to do it right yet--but read the page anyway.
YOU'LL see what I mean. When you get there.

And...

Which D&D Cartoon Character Are You? Yes, somebody wrote up a personality test about that.
And that somebody was ME! As far as I know I'm the first...perhaps still the only.
(Sorry I don't know how to make these clickable, with this particular board's code/rules.)

And remember kids: It's not _easy_ being Q-Bert...but it's fun!

Hey this was a great blast from the past!

Lemme see if I can't hit you with a bit of cartoon nostalgia. These are a few of my favorites:

Note: Every intro of every other incarnation of G-Force, including the Japanese original, sucks compared to this.

The SilverHawks are really cool, aren't they? I always loved the way they activate their face masks.

Man, I so miss the way girls dressed and made themselves up in the 80's. They looked hot in the late 70's also, but the 80's girls were a serious feast for the eyes. Big hair rules!

Heh. And while we're at it, I have to say, I don't mind big hair (some particular styles, anyway) on _guys_ either. It seems there are a lot more guys that I enjoy looking at in '80s music videos, movies, TV shows, etc. than in other decades--because long, fluffy hair was in. Where are all the pretty-boys in nice suits? :P

Mutoid Man: I just finished watching your cartoon intros...most of those I haven't even heard of, though I vaguely remember Mask, Inhumanoids, the one with the insect people, and COPS. And the intro for that "Captain Power" is..._interesting_....DUDE! "Digitizing"? Circuit lines on the body? That one shot kinda reminds me of something near the MCP's area... And that ever-popular, instantly screams '80s-computery Westminster font. Hmmm...greetings, programs?
(looking at the credits) And...HEY, Douglas Netter, he was also one of the producers on Babylon 5!
(While we're on that, J. Michael Straczynski also wrote some episodes of "The Real Ghostbusters"...)

And while I was mentioning my favourite '80s cartoons, I can't believe I forgot Thundercats. D'OH! (slaps self upside the forehead)

Interestingly enough, J.M.S. was the executive story consultant and a writer on Captain Power. Could explain why it was so cool.
