Actually, I think that they thought the name was brilliant. I think they were dumbfounded when people made fun of it after they realeased the name.
What I think is funny is that some people have warmed up to the name now.
Why?
I have yet to experience the Wii (or "wee-wee" as I like to call it), but one thing is for certain. No matter how fun it can be - the name is just stupid, stupid, STUPID!
And of course, one must be careful how one uses the term "Wii" in conversation, as I pointed out in my previous post. See how easily an innocent remark can be taken the wrong way? This is the kind of thing that can cause friendly gaming clans to fall in to bitter war! BUT you can't call it a Wii-war because then it sounds like a litte war, as in "wee war".
Damn console name!

Ok, I admit, I have a Wii bit of fun every time I rant about the stupid name.
Do they have Dance Dance Revolution for the Wii?
Because then you might call it the Wii dance... but that’s a WHOLE other thing!

Yeah, I wish they had stuck with Revolution. Also I can't play gamecube games yet, because it doesn't come with a controller controller. But I'm having fun with Wii sports. My favorite is Boxing.

Well, I figured out like a month ago that the Wii (just say it like 'why') works with gamecube controllers. Also, as of this post, I'll be #24 on the list! 4 more posts and I'll be #23!(I'm COMING for you, Hikaru.exe! Well, at least it's fun to parody. I know somebody on another forum who had "Wii will, wii will, rock you" as their signature for a while there. :P (And another guy normally named "Stewie" changed his name temporarily to "Stewii"...)

well you can kinda see why they called it that cos they wanted a name needing no abbreviation, translation and to just be different. maybe they misjudged just how different it would be tho
