Seriously, this is the nerdiest question on Earth but, who's better, Captain Kirk, or Captain Picard?
My bet is on Kirk he's oviously the more risk taking one plus he's tougher, and thinks good on his feet, plus he has a flippin' awsome chair!

I'm sorry, but I'm more of a DS9 fan  ;;; (And hey, who can beat Sisko punching Q out?)
Picard is pretty good with diplomatic stuff while Kirk and Sisko are on the same scale of getting THINGS DONE. (Sisko only chased after one woman. Kirk-- THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE.)

Myself I prefer Kirk from the original series when it comes to Captains. But if it was any other character that I loved. Was that Scottsman in Engineering in the original series that I grew up with. Scotty.
Yeah isn't that kind of weird eh Kia. With Sisko with one he went afterwards. And Kirk with many. Makes you wonder what Kirk could have done like with Sisko stick with the one lady. But nope. He'll go out and hit on with any good looking female alien he can. Things that make you go Hmmmm.

Ah, but in "Trials and Tribble-ations" it is shown that even Sisko hero-worships Kirk.
As far as chasing females across the universe... I think Riker is the only other character to even come close to bagging the number of females, human or alien, that Kirk did. However, it seems like many of Riker's women were of the "I've got an open mind so I don't mind if they're butt-ugly aliens" variety whereas Kirk never got anything less than the totally droolworthy variety.
Therefore, while I do like all of the captains I maintain that Kirk > all the others.

Between Kirk and Piccard, I'm not sure who was a better captain - they both had their style of doing things and captained at different stages of their lives. If I had to walk in the footsteps of one of the, I'd probably choose Kirk because those green alien chicks looked yummy and you KNOW Kirk bagged 'em!
And KiaPurity brought up a good point about DS9. Sisko was an awesome captain. He was tough, smart, had qualities that were both Kirk-like AND Piccard like... and wasn't afraid to get his hands dirty when there was need to. DS9 was a great show!
And what about Captain Archer? He was out there doing things that no one had done before... completely uncharted territory, long before the prime directive.
And I wonder what role he's leapped in to now? 
I rather enjoyed Enterprise. Pissed me the hell off when the cancled it THREE years too early!
