Very early in the series, Kirk kinda hints at his lady problems while he's drunk off his arse on the effects of the 'collapsing planet' illness. He starts talking about the Enterprise as his ball & chain, suggesting that his ship is what he's really in love with, even if deep down he wants to break away from it.
In short, the classic song, "Brandy"
