Greetings Programs! My Tron website...

on Wednesday, March, 22, 2006 7:21 AM
Greetings programs...
this is the MCP computer.

I have finally uploaded my Tron
website to the web.

EDIT: I did some changes with the scripts....
took out the crazy stuff that slowed it down..
and just left one transition in the intro..

and put it on a new server with no ads or pop ups....
I'll be redoing stuff on the site and adding stuff later

End of Line...

My Tron Site

Now it's not the best thing in the world..
but i am proud to say.. i wrote all the code from scratch..
and did all the work...
it was really fun staying up late
writing it.. while playing the Tron soundtrack.

I felt like Flynn working late night on another project.
Now if only I knew how to write and program video games!
then I'd be just like Flynn.

anyways I hope you guys like it.
I programed it myself.

Also I'll be updating and improving the site as time goes by.
ANd I'll be launching my MCP website next month!

thank you for your time programs...
that will be all..

End of Line

Neat...but slow. Those transition effects might look cool, but they just piss people off after the second or third use. It's like my dad and Powerpoint presentations. He can't have empty space, he has to fill it with graphics, and they all have to do something. Before you ever get to what you need to see, there are cars drving through, planes going by, sound effcts. It gets old really fast. Just a bit of advice, take it or leave it.

Urg.. Tripod. I could have done without getting the "Gay? Bi? Curious?" popup to be honest. (Not that I have anything against Gay, Bi or Curious people, it's just that my sexuality is none of Tripod's business.) No offence but tripod.com has pop-upped themselves into uselessness.

I do have a pop-up blocker on this PC but then it barred access to your site completely. You may want to think of springing for the cash for a hosted site if you're serious about web page making.

Yeah, I tend to agree with DT. The content and layout of the site is nicely done, but the pop-up messages and page transitions are annoying. Having to wait several extra seconds before you can see a page, every time one loads, bugs me. The first time is okay, but after that the novelty wears off.

Without so many transitions and pop-up messages, I think your site is a winner.

Agree like what davetron had mentioned. I know it was a nice idea to do it that way to begin with. Even if you still want to keep it there. Your going to have to speed it up a little bit more in order to make it easier for people. Nice tuches there as well of what you have already there.

MCPcomputer - the overall look of your site is off to a good start. But I have to be honest - I didn't make it past the first link. Once those damn pop-ups started, I made a quick exit.

You show a lot of promise in your web site work. You really should seek out a better web host than tripod. I know they're out there - just do some research.

thanks for the feedback programs,
Yeah Tripod and their po ups..damm them

I use mozilla so it blocks all the pop ups.
sorry about those pop ups.

Yeah I did the java script programming
for this a long time ago...
like the transitions and message windows

I was messing around with different codes
and what they can do lol
I think I'll just leave one transition while getting to the main page.. and then get rid of the other scripts
running the other transitions...

Thanks for all the comments ...
I will be getting a new host soon
for this and all my other websites...

I just wanted to finally upload it to the net...
since i had written it a long time ago...

I will add Flynn and Yori to the characters section

thanks for all the comments

As long as Tron still lives on somewhere, I'm happy. Keep it up, the site needs some work, but surely that's an excuse to watch Tron more, right?

And I like the way you post, seems oddly poetic... abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

It's a good start, but there are several things you might wanna consider:

- CSS is sexy and jazzes up any page! Maybe throw a little bit of that in there

- The password fields and things for the game grid seem kinda unessisiary. At first, I thought it was going to be a forum thing. But it was actually another page with info on it. So if I'm thinking that, other people might too! So that's definately something to be aware of.

- The blue "e-mail me" hyper text at the bottom blends in with your page way too much. You also might want to move that and other contact info (And potentially rules about contacts) in to it's own section and link that in to the side tool bar.

- Graphics are great, but it makes 56K cry. Consider that about half the Internet using population are still sitting on 56K... myself included. If I were to head home right now and tried to view your page, my poor 56k connection would be begging for mercy right about now. So if you have graphics and banners, make them smaller not just pixel wise, but compression wise too. You could use gif formats, but that generally works for pixel art over full scale banners. So try a smaller jpeg compression style if you can and gif if you really need to and can't avoid it.

- Javascript: great for somethings; bad for other stuff. Transitions are cool along with some of those pop-up dealies, but after a while, it gets old, annoying and slows everything down.... including my school's fiber optic connection. This is definately something to think about.

I hope this helps!

Wow, why didn't some of us say all that? Just teasing. The poor guy is having to hear the same mantra over an over at this point.

Also I just wanted to add a little extra here too. The other thing you can do to it. I know that you had good intentions for making it. I tried looking at it with Firefox for ubuntu linux. to see if there would be any major changes to it. The only thing that has changed was the scripting of the fade ins and outs of the pages. They did not work with Firefox. So my feeling is. and suggestion take the special effects uot of it since it will not work that either Netscape or Internet explorer standards.

Just did a quickie googlie searchie tingie doodad here. ANd came up with some probably better free hosting sites without adds. Some with it all depends. http://www.freewebspace.net/php/search.php?form_language=English&form_space=50&b=0&i=10&Search=Search&form_hostType=REG&a=1
Thinking of change over here or at least use one of my other machines to host it loaclly through my highspeed coonection. Haven't decided yet over here.

Just be careful with those scripts there if they are not taken out properly there will be some problems with the page. I just did a quick load up on it to see what changes you had made. Its good without the fades in there on a windows environment there. I was looking and had seen on the bottom of the IE browser that there is a error somewhere. Which line of code no idea yet until I get a chance to see which line it is there from the browser .

Do we know each other from elsewhere MCPcomputer??

;d

Re: Greetings Programs! My Tron website...

Well the scripts i removed where commands
and also meta tags..
that controled the alert windows..
and tansitions...

i just left one transition running
in the beggining..
and then i shortened the duraation time
for the transition effect.. so it wouldn;t be as slow
then I removed all the other scripts
from the other pages..

Ohh yeaa you have to be careful when taking stuff out..
but i wrote the whole website from scratch...
So I know which codes to take out or not...

But I may have made a mistake

I wrote these programs!
I can delete them as well! lol
just kidding
I will look into that error you're seeing..
I don';t use IE at all.. i should test it on IE.
I only use AOL and Firefox as my browser's...
I'll take a look at it in IE.

Well I checked the site on all 3 browsers...
AOL, Firefox, and IE.... i get no errors..
and every page , graphic and link and script
is working as it should...

What exactly are you seeing as the error?
is it a pic that is not loading.. or just an error message?
If you have full sercurity on ur IE setting...
it may just be blocking on of my scripts...
it's an invisible one that just makes sure everything runs
smoother for the users... I think that is it...

I just wish I could write video game programs...
I'm studying and leanring how to do this..
so hopefully I'd be able to write some tank games..
to destory those recognizers..!

Compucore... I think we have only known each other
from this website...
I was here a long time ago under the name
MasterControlProgram....
But I later lost my password.
So I made a new name and password...

And I haven't posted in a while...
But I plan to visist this website more.
I love being in the I/O forums....
There is always something interesting and exciting
going on with these programs...
