And they're the only ones with velcro straps too... hmm.
Remember those things back in the 80's? The velcro straps on sneakers? I figured that shoe laces would be a thing of the past in no time, at least for sneakers. And then all of a sudden, it became uncool to have velcro straps on your sneakers. DAMN style!

Sadly, because selling the rights to merchandise for a profit is not the same as investing money. They (meaning the corporate entity, not the individuals behind the decisions) don't know that Tron is going to make Adidas money. Same with any but of licensing. They prefer these things to sell, of course. But it's a no risk investment for them that helps keep a Disney property in the public eye at the expense of other companies.
I'd say the best hope for a new game will be dependent upon Kingdom of Hearts 2. And the best hope for a movie will be Pixar.

Well...I did a little google-ing and according to this the Tron shoes will be out sometime in May.

Yeah, lurkinghorror is absolutely right. Companies are approaching Disney, and paying for the right to use the Tron property. So why would Disney refuse? They earn money in licensing fees, and risk nothing. It's only when Disney themselves think about making something Tron related, that they get all skittish . . . because they're the ones that could lose money if a product fails. With the track top and shoes, it's Adidas taking the risk.
It's the same with Kingdom Hearts 2 and the new Tron comic. Square-Enix made the game, not BVG/Disney. SLG is making the comic, not Disney. Disney has nothing to lose.
Just too bad Disney doesn't have the courage themselves, to step up to the plate and deliver a quality Tron sequel. (None of this kiddified, dumbed-down remake crap like they were proposing last year.)

Thanks... is that TRON's face on the sole of the shoe? I downloaded the high resolution image and to be honest it looks more like a face in the low resolution image.
If so I wonder what Bruce Boxleitner thinks. I wonder how many people can lay claim to the statement "My face is on the sole of an Adidas shoe"?
