I've always liked the Recognizers, especially they top part of them.... They seem menacing to me

I'm getting out of here right now, and you guys are invited. -----^

Well dont know the render time but according to Richard taylor per THIS LINK from the modeling of the object to a color image printed on film was about 1 week. Thats for a single frame. And I thought an hour a frame was bad lol.where to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online

I'm probably wrong, but I'm sure it says 10 minutes per frame in the special features. Lisberger also describes computers as an airbrush artist that can produce thousands of images a day (he also said that the shading was always correct and other stuff like that).

That is just following one frame all the way from the drafting board to a color image on film. I read something with the last starfighter (also produced with the foonley f1 that did TRON) that render time for a frame was anywhere from 8-15 minutes depending on complexity. Then it was sent to the optical equipment to be recorded on film but theres a lot of intermediate steps im not going into here

zook_one Wrote:While I was building CLU tank last week I noticed similar flip flops in the Tank Model. Some times the little flat disc would be on the side of the tank turret and other shots it wouldn't be. It probably took so long to render out scenes back then, if they made a mistake on something, they were like screw it.

I've talked about this before. Personally I think that "disc" was taken off intentionally for that scene. Had they left it on there would have been other problems they would have had to deal with. Check out this tread...

If you look carefully the counter weight at the back of the barrel intersects this part too and that did make it into the film.

Not to get too far off topic here but to quote myself from the other thread...

wwwmwww Wrote3) Check out the tank in the scene from 49:52 to 49:55. Its also different from all the other tanks seen in the movie. Can anyone tell me what is different about it? I don't think this could be called a blooper as maybe its just a unique tank.

By chance does anyone have a screen capture of this tank? To keep this on topic... I guess I could comment that if there are 4 recognizer models used in the film, there are also atleast 3 different tank models.

Todd,

I just wanted to thank you for the plug on the main page. Do you think you could help with the screen captures mention in the post just above this one and in the 3rd post in this thread?

Thanks,
Carl

Todd,

I second Carl thanks for the plug also. Carl that screen capture you posted is right before the Editor realized he better cut the shot before the tank turret collides with the Arrow Dot. But what ever, it's the digital world, not the real world, to objects can occupy the same space at the same time. Unless its solid modeling...

Todd,

I meant to ask one other question as well...

Also, not every one of the fan-made creations featured in these threads have been uploaded to TRON-Sector's archives & galleries. Artists, please help out by uploading them via the member upload section. It makes archiving these wonderful creations a lot easier. :-)

Are you SURE about that? I bet I have close to 100 images I could upload if you wanted me too.

Carl

You're welcome!

You've been doing some FINE work and your attention to detail is outstanding. I mean, I had no idea there were so many differences in the recognizers... or light cycles for that matter! I always look forward to your new renders.

I'm sorry, but what exactly did you mean about helping with the screen captures mention in the post just above the one I quoted? And the 3rd post in this thread? Are you looking for additional screen captures of specific moments in the film? Sorry - it was a LONG, hard day for me and work and I'm probably just missing the obvious, but a little clarification would be helpful.

What?

100 images?

Wow!

Ok, in that case - no.

What I meant is that new images appear in threads all the time, and I don't always have the time to pick them out, and archive them. Often, I don't even discover some of these awesome images until long after they're posted. If people would upload an image here and there - it would be helpful in making sure they all get archived and not overlooked or missed.

But... when you've got 100 images, I would prefer them like this:

1) Please name all of the image files in plain English, using normal spaces and title case (or however you'd like to see them listed in thir titles). This helps me in entering a proper title for the images and not trying to make up a suitable title for a file named something like this: cycle14a_rot35.jpg

2) Please zip all images in to one zip file and either e-mail it to me directly or upload it to the file archives and I'll take it from there (whichever you prefer). One zip file is a whole lot easier to work with than 100 individual uploads or attachments.

3) If you want to include additional text or write-ups with your images, please feel free to do so. I'll need that in a tab delimited text file in this format:

SECTION CATEGORY GROUP TITLE DESCRIPTION FILENAME
TRON Fan Art Ed Keefe First 3D Studio Max Version This was my first render of the 3D Studio Max Version first 3d studio max version.jpg

NOTE: The 2nd row does not line up with the header row because of content length, but they line up based on where the TAB breaks are.

Maybe this helps a little:

SECTION (TAB) CATEGORY (TAB) GROUP (TAB) TITLE (TAB) DESCRIPTION (TAB) FILENAME

The first row is unnecessary - it's just a header of what data you should include. The second row is an example of a file I uploaded of Ed Keefe's (only the description was just made up now as an example).

Sending me the information in this format is a BIG time saver! And I encourage you to include write-ups for any images you'd like to share additional info on. Also note that you can name your titles anything you want regardless of their file names if you choose the tab delimited text file option (no need to name your files in English this way).

I hope that all made sense.

There are 2 screen captures that I don't currently have that I'd like to have.

(1) The scene when Flynn steps out through the "eyes" of the recognizer after he crashes it. In this scene you can see the shape of the eyes.

(2) On the DVD the scene from 49:52 to 49:55 shows a tank that is different from ALL the other tanks. I don't believe I've ever seen a screen capture of this scene.

If you could help with either of these I'd really appreciate it. Thanks,
Carl

Ahh - that makes perfecet sense!

I'll see what I can do this weekend.

Of course, if someone else has a moment to grab these images first - please feel free to post them.

Makes sense... If I get some free time in the next weekend or two I'll work on making you one very large zip file.

Hi!

I have checked my dvd on 49:52 to 49:55, but i cant see
a tank right there.
Its the scene where Flynn and Ram are laying on the ground
after they have been shot by the tank.
The only thing ive found is in the scene, where they are hiding in the wall and the tank is passing by.
The tank there dont have the holes in the front of the turret
and is missing the insets in the treads.

The insets in the treads:
You can see it nicely on the back of the tread.

Or here at the front (the triangle)
I think this tank has a different inset at the back of the tread. it seems onle to be at the middle of the back,
while the other ones have it going up to the top of it.

Here you can see the missing holes and front-inset

And the missing inset on the back of the tread.

I hope i could make it understandable

Thanks Dirk,

Those are nice images but they aren't of the tank I'm talking about. I currently can't play the DVD on my PC (not really sure why myself) but I just took a picture of my TV with my digital camera.

Aside from making out the brand of my TV who can tell me what makes this Tank different from ALL the rest?

If I'm correct in understanding what you mean by "insets" in the tread I think I can say a fair bit about that too but what I want to say is best said with pictures so let me make a few.

Hi!

I marked the areas on the treads on the pictures i posted above.
The front one is easy to see, its just a triangle, which is
shifted inwards, but im not sure about the one
at the back.
Ill have to check more frames, maybe i find more about it.

Dirk
