Thanks for marking the area you were talking about. Yes it's clear to me I did understand you correctly. These "insets" I believe are artifacts that show up only in some frames and I believe it's due to the way the tank was modeled. I'll try to make a few images to show you why I believe that. In short I don't think the "insets" should be there.

Nice screen capture. I wish I could grab these myself but could you grap a frame just a few frames before this one. I was after one which showed the dip in the brow and I believe this frame was captured just after that panned off the top of the sceen.
I'm starting to think these before and after shots have the EXACT same shape. It might even be part of a mat painting and something that wasn't even modeled.

Yes, that's it. I wish I knew how this image was made and the before image as well (the one where Flynn and Ram enter the recognizer). The detail hehind the eye cut out shape might be the actual recognizer set. Is there a nice collection of photos of the actual physical sets that were used in TRON? I believe I've seen some photos of the Tank set but off the top of my head I don't think I've seen any photos of the interior of the recognizer set.

Check out this image...
This proves it isn't a map painting. See the detail I have circled in red. This is behind the joystick used to fly the recognizer. As the perspective of the shot changes this detail moves from the right of the joystick (circled in green) to the left of the joystick. This proves to me this is a true 3D environment and I personally don't think this was modeled. I think these are images of a physical set. See the details I have circled in yellow? I think these are boxes set at the front of the set to add detail. The window shape itself may also be part of the set... I can't really tell.

I found a frame, where you can see inside the cockpit of the acual model.
They (The model and the real stage) just dont fit together.
Ill try anyways and will see how bad it looks
