More Tron models

on Thursday, March, 02, 2006 7:25 AM
Hi there!

Im pretty impressed what nice 3d-models Ed, Carl and others are pulled out of the hat lately.

Especially Carls autopsy of the lightcycle
I tried to take a peek on it, but i cant find
a way to convert the .pov to any other format,
what my modeller could read. (almost any other)

I got my Tron-logo finished a bit ago.
Im happy to share the mesh, so if anyone interested,
just drop me a line. Its Lightwave format,
but i could convert it to 3ds, obj and a few others.

When i got a bit time left, i will redo my homepage and
put all the stuff on it.

The second model i just started is the recognizer,
there is a bit left do do on it(top), maybe i even do a interior.

More coming soon....

Hi!

Had a pretty busy weekend, so i couldnt work
on the Reco
Found more interesting spots for reference on the
DVD.

But i was able to setup a simple scene for it.
The gaussian antialiasing-filter of Lightwave works pretty
good to catch the look of the movie.

more to come....

Dirk

You can sure say that again... the colors, the lighting and shadow, and the outline effect all look perfect.

Keep up the great work,
Carl

Holy cow, that looks awesome! Good work!

I may have to ask you how you built the shapes I had to create point-to-point lines to define the shape of the recognizer I wanted. Then make a 2-D square sheet on a separate layer. Then Drill a hole into the sheet using the recognizer shape I drew. Then delete the stuff off the sheet that wasn't the recognizer. And then extrude the recognizer shapes to create 3-dimensions. When you drill, it causes unwanted lines to creep in, thereby forcing me to band-aid patch some of the polys together. See this video I posted in a different thread:
http://www.tron-sector.com/ftp/Video/Recognizer-feet.aviI like how it turned out, except the feet. I had to put two polys side-by-side there to construct the legs and feet and you can see the separation line. How should I have instead made the polygons for this bad boy? I don't think I used a good method. Any advice is appreciated, as I'm also used LW...

Hi Traahn!

I build the Reco part by part, out of boxes, then tweaking
and adding detail with knife or bevels ect.
Sometimes i build the shape out of points and extrude them,
really depends on the situation.
To get rid of your line in the reco-leg, just merge the 2 polys.
Select both polys and press "Z"

Dirk

EDIT: "Z" for polys, "m" is for merging pointsorder abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pill

Excellent! Thanks for the tips! I *thought* I tried knife and merge poly already??, but maybe I didn't! We shall see! All I know is everything I tried resulted in horrible looking polygons :P I will have to try that Guassian blur thing too.

Wow, those honestly look like they came straight out of the movie. If you didn't tell anyone, you could seriously fool them into thinking they're DVD still frames.

Hi Traahn!

Its not gaussian blur, its the gaussian antialiasing-filter
in the camera tab.
I think its there with other modes like the classic, lancros and mitchell since lw8.2
Then use plenty of pld-antialiasing passes.

Dirk

That Recognizer is looking excellent. The background is spot on too.
