lol... that last part was funny....

I try.

CCleaner is really a nice freeware program. What it does is find useless files and reg. keys on your computer and gets rid of them. It is also a nice uninstaller and very easy to use.

I'm still looking for a bunch of nifty programs and if I find anything else I think you guys might be intrested in, I'll post them here...

Try poking around Sourceforge if you're feeling brave. There's all sorts of cool stuff there!

[EDITED]... sorry about that... I miss read you're post... I thought you were talking about soundforge.... lol...

I'll take a look into it... Thanks for the heads up, Kamui...

No problem. I've been hanging around SourceForge a lot lately and found some cool stuff and figured it was worth a mention. ^^

Ok... Here is something I'm looking into...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ClamWin:

Clam Antivirus (http://www.clamav.net). Includes scheduler, virus database updates, standalone scanner, context menu integration to MS Windows Explorer and Addin to MS Outlook. Also features easy setup program.

In other words, it's a freeware Antivirus scanner. Since I haven't ran a virus protector on my computer in years, I'll give this one a shot.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WinPooch:

Winpooch is a watchdog for Windows that helps you increase the security of your computer. Winpooch can prevent suspicious programs from doing dangerous actions such as writing to system directories or sensible registry keys. It acts as a powerful anti spyware and anti trojans, and if you have ClamWin installed, you can tell Winpooch to scan every program before it runs.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And for something a little different.....

ASCII Art Generator: (Shareware)

This is a neat little tool. You can convert photos to ASCII art. Not really a useful tool unless your into that sort of thing, but it is neat. It also provides you with a matrix canvas where you can make your own ASCII art. The shareware version does not allow you input you're own pictures (there is a way around that by creating a new sample.bmp) and does not let you print from canvas (there are ways around that too).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok... I'll keep searching....

Lets see for me its the following. Some of them you can get them online for free directly from the manufacturer.

Oracle 10 XE really nice and small only 150 megs to download. and easy to user and learn from .

Visual Studio 6 Programming language that you can make your own programs within windows environment.

Visual Studio Dot Net Latest one is free for one year in beta testing still active to download from. Different apps avail;able to download. for free from MS.

Ubuntu Linux 5.10 Nice OS with a shoot load of programs and games to download and use. Great if your tired of MS windows and OSX from Mac. Downloadbale for Power PC, Intel base and MAD Xeon 64 bit version as well or order online from their web site all for free even the cd's themselve. Made two different orders ad got them free.

Sky OS A really differet kind of Operating system that is not a unix or MS kind of operating system. Something different to try out.

Sun Solaris 10, one that you can download one a single DVD or 5 cd's if you have a cd or dvd burner. Great if you want to have a Solaris machine on a intel machine or based computer or on a sun Microsystem computer. Free once more.

Is that good for free stuff there folks. with the exception of Visual studio 6.0

VROOOOOOOOOMMMM!!!

To compute or not to compute that is the question at hand. Tis nobler to compile in C++ or in TASM.

For those of you who don't have MS Office but need a pretty good office suite, try Open Office. It's free..

Open Office

It's open source. Not really bad if you need a simple word processer/data base/spread sheet/presentation...

-------------------------------------------------
EXCELLENT PROGRAM INFORMATION
-------------------------------------------------

Process Explorer

The program shows everything that is running in the background of your OS and you can right-click and google every process or .dll instantly to get extra information. This is a must have and it's freeware...

I've known about this program for a while now but forgot about this thread... Here is a link... I really suggest that you get this program.

Hope you find this useful...

Yeah, the Sysinternals site has a whole bunch of incredibly useful tools. It's definitely worth people's time to browse the entire site, and see everything that's offered.

Yeah... I'm still learning about their other software as well... I'm really gald that you noticed this thread...

Another useful program that I posted in this thread before is:

CCleaner

Sorry that I don't have a link, but you can google it... On of the best cleaners that I have ever ran across...

Here is something I've been trying to find time to use. Thinking about making a Tron platform game with.

It's called: Game Maker 6.1
http://www.gamemaker.nl
You don't really need to learn programming but a little bit helps. Pretty cool...

Their site must be down for the moment. I even googled it just to make sure I got the link right. I'll keep an eye on it.

Thanks...

Wow - GameMaker? Three years ago, me and a friend were completely hooked on that thing! I made little games with fun graphics, and my friend learnt the programming language, GML. It's partially what made me get into computer graphics, and it's what made my friend decide to learn C++ (and a whole load of other languages too).

I think I still have some of the games we made with it - it was a great freeware program back then!

Yeah... now to get all the features, you got to pay... but its not much and in a way I'm happy about that. It gives the creator more motivation to keep updating and improving GM6.

I really need to take some time and learn it because I have millions of ideas I want to try out... Plus I have a slew of professional tools for making gfx, sfx, music, etc...

Yep... Game maker is really cool...abortion pills online abortion questions cytotec abortion

Gamemaker's cool, and your link is messed up because you put a "n" instead of "net".

That looks pretty cool. I wish I had the time to dedicate to learning it and coming up with something.

Trust me, it's piss easy. I was 12 when I first found out about it, and the same evening I downloaded it I made a half-decent game. Learning the language helps - but I never did and I still got a great kick out of making fun li'l games.

True... but these days, when you juggle between life, work, and other projects, it takes an act of god to even do something as simple as to take a piss these days...

But your right... It is rather easy... I've learned a lot from it... I just wished I could spend more time with it...
