Cool stuff... thanks for sharing...
Now why is it that all I see is a little red "x" for these two?

All the others work. Anyone else having this same problem or is it just me?

Yep - I had the same problem, but the files are completely intact. I double checked them and the files are not the problem... it is IE.
Unfortunately, I think IE does not like the physical dimensions of those images. If you right-click and choose to "save as" the images, and then look at them in something other than IE, they will display just fine. I don't want to shrink them to make them IE friendly - I'd rather let people enjoy them in all their original glory.
Damn Microsoft!
Thanks for bringing that up, Carl. I'm going to add a note to the image write-up explaining that so people don't just think the links are broken or anything.

I can't save as. That's the only option it doesn't give me when right clicking the images. The two show up as red X's for me too.

Ok, I'm going to try and make some IE friendly versions in addition to the originals.
EDIT:
I just figured it out. IE doesn't like the image format. The images were originally saved in CMYK color depth. That explains the very large file size and why IE doesn't like them. I'm going to convert them to RGB mode, which more than cuts the file size in half without reducing the image size or quality (at least not to the human eye).
Gimme a few minutes to take care of this...
EDIT 2:

All fixed! Just a format issue.

I'm not sure I dig the digital Jet comcept imagery either. Perhaps because I got used to 2.0's Jet. I'm sure there's a reason for the new look though. I just hope it's story-related and not creative politics.
What can you tell us about Jet's digital makeover, lurkinghorror? If you can't comment on it, no problem.
redrain85 Wrote The real world Jet looks fine, though.) But other than that, I'm quite impressed. Especially by the large "Page 2" image. Nice re-creation of a glow-like effect in the artwork. |
I agree. I especially like the potential cover art of issue 1 (I/O tower landscape) and the "page 2" image.

I uploaded another image. It's a pencil version of the previous postcard image, which I believe will be the cover to the first issue. The image of the system, with all the IO towers, is actually the first page. None of the text has been added yet, of course.
I'm really happy with Louie De Martinis' work on this. Particularly so with his backgrounds of the digital world. There is very little direction in the script on what this should look like, and evidently, very little direction is needed.
I'll continue to make more available, as I am allowed.
P.S. Thanks for the thread and for putting this on the news page, Todd! abortion pills online abortion questions cytotec abortion

Thanks for the new image - it looks really cool. I added it and modified the main page post slightly given the new light you shed on the imagery. The pencil version image was absolutely HUGE, so I did reduce it in size to 25% of its original size. But it still more than large enough and full of detail.

In an ideal world, should those old wwwmwww URLs still be working though? If they're still "live", then I'd like to defend Microsoft a little --> those URLs don't work in an Opera browser either hehe (MS already gets a bad enough name.)
Anyways, I can see all the images you posted. Thanks, lurkinghorror! And thanks TheReelTodd for putting them up for us. They have a cool style. I'm looking forward to seeing more

I don't think so. I like the gritty look the concept art has. I'm glad it so far doesn't look like it will have a happy, bubbly cartoon, Pokemon look.where to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online

The design of Jet has been a difficult process. Everyone involved in the project has a different opinion, not uncommon with this kind of labor of love. I for one, have never like the look of hair in the computer world. It's really kind of a ridiculous stance, because why shouldn't they have hair? They have teeth and eyes and such. But while I recognize that there is no rational for my dislike of hair in the world of Tron, I still dislike it. So I pushed for a helmet. I also wanted a less complicated design, in an effort to spare poor Louie in art chores. But he seems to be either insane or a glutton for punishment, and went with a design that i would never want to draw over an over. Of course, I CAN"T draw, so it's not really comparable. Anyway...
...Suffice to say, Disney had opinions, SLG had opinions, I had opinions, Eric (the other writer) had opinions, and we dumped this all on Louie. We could have left it as is, but we wanted something that would identify a bit more with casual fans of the film. The helmet is an icon at this point, and I felt it might help attract more readers. I also wanted the tunic, but I don't think that will make it into the series.
As for looking like Sark, a bit. Perhaps as the story progresses, he will look more like Sark. Hard to say.
About Pokemon, just wait until the second issue where Jet must catch them all, or perish in the attempt.

Oh yes, I bet everyone has opinions! Incorporating the tunic would make sense, imo. I like it. I saw it in the Tron movie as the symbolic point that Flynn was a user... a deity to the programs, so to speak. Otherwise, he would look just like all the other programs, but he's not really a program. I'll have to check again, but does Flynn wear the tunic through the entire film?
