Hey, RenegadeProgram, welcome to TronSector!
I'll admit I spy'd around for at least 3-4 years before I actually decided to join. And I joined because Daddyo said I should when I was pwning him online in , hehe.
IS a great addition to the universe. Unlike most of Disney's stuff at the time, this game was awesome becuase it had some of the original cast and was developed by the people who made No One Lives Forever and Project FEAR. It's a very fun game and you can tell that everyone who worked on it was obviously a diehard TRON fan. Unfortunately, not too many people play online anymore, but I've seen a steady increase in new players over the summer, which is good. You can probably find on Amazon for $4-$5.
I think if they make a new film, they should at least include the one recurring event in each entry, and that would be someone taking Alan's popcorn.
I personally don't think right now is a good time for Disney to make a TRON sequel. If they did right now, Hannah Montana or Jonas Brothers (both of which give me a very bad headache) music would likely be used in the same fashion Journey (which is far superior to anything Disney owns) music was used in the original film.
It's very likely, they used Jonas Brothers music in the credits for Prince Caspian......
Or at least something that sounded equally annoying.. ugh
But anyways, welcome to TRON-Sector! We all hope you have fun posting here. All of the Admins are very freindly and active in the forums.

Hey TRON.dll:
Thanks for the welcome. I've got, "No One Lives Forever" on my PS2, and I think that game is a great satire of the whole James Bondesque spy genre, as well as a well-made game. I haven't completed it yet, as it gets a little challenging at times, plus Fatherhood duties pretty much take the fore right now.
By the way, to play Tron 2.0 online, do you have to pay for it? Or is it free? Also, can you play it using Windows Vista? I'm not on a Vista computer at the moment, but I've heard that Vista is not all that great when it comes to games (I'm kinda biased as generally, I like XP better as it seems more user-friendly. Maybe the MCP is behind Vista, LOL!!!!!)From what I've seen on youtube and on product screenshots, Tron 2.0 looks like a pretty faithful tie-in to the TRON universe. I will invest in it in the future.
As far as the recurring event of the popcorn, that would be cool, LOL!!!!! That almost sounds like one of the requirements for something called the 48Hr Film Festival, where you have to use a recurrent prop in all the 48 Hr Film Festival films that are made. I wonder if RAM's user will show up in the next film asking Alan for his popcorn?
Too bad the guy that played Dr. Gibbs passed away recently - I liked his character and he's one of my favorites in TRON. To me, he was like that elder in all our families who has endless wisdom to impart to younger generations, and he was trying to school hard-headed Dilinger on the err of his ways.
Whatever filmic manifestations take place for TRON, I just hope they're well done, and I certainly hope that Steven Lisberger and Co. are in it. I feel for that guy - seems like many (not all) of those guys in suits have crapped on him hard for the last several years. Hope all his endeavors, including, "Soul Code" are successful. I look forward to seeing more from him and also thanks to all the folks here at Tron-Sector. If Disney is not the right company to do it, how about ILM or Digital Domain, and some other production company? I'd hate to hear Hannah Montana singing in it. Personally, I wouldn't mind hearing Journey again, or maybe even the rock band Living Colour, or some other rock band, like Sevendust or Van Halen. End of line.

Yes, TRON 2.0 is free to play online on the PC. The XBOX version requires XBOX Live to play online, natrually.
From what I've heard, TRON 2.0 works fine on Vista, but you're right, XP is more user freindly. Switching to Vista is about as big of a change as switching from Windows to Linux. Definitely stick with Windows XP. Weather or not TRON 2.0 works on Vista seems to vary from user to user, but everyone says it works fine for their XP machines, so stick with XP.
I've always thought that songs with a lot of 80's synthesizers would fit TRON perfectly. Examples would be "1984/Jump" by Van Halen and "Tom Sawyer" by Rush. Although, "Subdivisions" by Rush would be neat, too.
I think the new TRON movie should take place between TRON and TRON 2.0, explaning the transistion from the MCP to TRON to ICPs. If done correctly, it would end up being really cool. It'd also give Disney a reason to have another awesome arcade scene like in the first movie.
A lot of the people who did CGI animation for TRON went on to form Pixar, so I think that they are the perfect group of people to do a sequel. ILM is still doing some pretty spectacular films today, like "Iron Man" and "Indiana Jones: Crystal Skull". I think if they worked together, it would be one heck of a movie.
Just cross your fingers that Breaking Benjamen has absolutely nothing to do with a sequel. That's why we all hated Killer App on the XBOX.. where to buy abortion pill abortion types buy abortion pill online

Whoa!
Just look at the size of that FIRST post! What an introduction. You said so much, I feel like I've known you my whole life... or at least the last few minutes or so. He he
TRON blew me away when I saw it in 1982 as well. No other film has had that affect on me since - not even close. You're in good company here. There are several of us older folks who had the opportunity to see it when it was a groundbreaking film full of imagery and concepts never before seen or thought of by most. As old as the film is, it has had quite an impact on many younger people who were not yet alive when it was in the theaters, but still fell in love with it when they were exposed. That says a lot in today's world of CGI film after CGI film. More than 25 years later, and TRON still looks and feels futuristic to me.

Hello The Reel Todd:
Thanks for welcoming me in. Looks like a real cool site and I'll definitely be enjoying myself. I'll try not to make my future posts like a thesis, LOL!!!! I just love to write, and sometimes when I'm talking about something, I really get into it and end up being long-winded, LOL!!!!
I checked out, "Whats With Your Name?" and, "Another Dose of Tron" as well as some other threads, and posted in them. There's some really cool names and stories behind why people chose them. I was wondering this - do you guys create your own Tron smilies and avatars in MS Paint? Or is there a smilie selection box somewhere on this board? Also, how do you do glow effects in MS Paint? It seems like some of the avatars and smilies have pretty cool glow effects, just like the TRON film.
Looking forward to hearing back. Thanks again. Looking forward to meeting more folks on this board and continually coming back to see what Auric and co. have brewing in the proverbial pot. End of Line.

Don't worry about long-winded posts. If you poke around a bit, you'll find some doozies I made. It happens. Sometimes there's an abundance of stuff on the mind to share and I loose track of time and my fingers just kind of keep on going and going and going on the keyboard. I see you have the same thing going on sometimes.
It just occurred to me that this is the first time I've every used the word "doozie" (or the plural there of) in a post here. Hmm. I kind of liked it. I might try that again sometime.

Herro.. be vewy qwiet... I'm hunting wabbits!!
Er, I mean, my name is James and I'm a computer technician. I've been a computer tech for the last 11 years. I saw Tron when it was first released and, wow, that film blew me away.
I first heard of it on the local news one evening, when they had a slot devoted to Tron. They showed the lightcycle segment, and I thought "Wow, I really have to go and see that film!"
I've been into computers as a hobby since 1983, and was into video games before that. I used to get millions on Tron - Deadly Discs, which was one of my favourite games on the Intellivision. I was rather disappointed with the guards at the end who just ran around until they zapped you.
I've got a small collection of arcade games taking up far too much space in my apartment - most of which don't work properly - and managed to pick up a statue of the Muckle Mannequins/Studio Oxmox Mercury statue a few years back I don't have a Tron coin-op unfortunately.. Had a chance to pick one up on Ebay for a decent price a few months back.. but common sense prevented me from bidding! >> 10 rem *CONFORM*

Never done this right, so here I go.
Hello there. I am Frequency NecroKat, and I fight for the users of California.
I've been a fan of TRON only a little while, after my sister wanted to see what TRON actually was last November. (She had just seen him in Kingdom Hearts II) Needless to say we ran out, rented the anniversary edition, and fell in love with it.
Ever since then, I've been positively hooked. After I went to Comicon this year, you can probably imagine how psyched I was. As much as I love all the boys and the girl, Ram is my favorite character (and should've got more screentime. In the words of Dan Shor's gram, "Re-rezz Ram! Re-rezz Ram!).
I'm an artist, a video gamer, a researcher, a writer, a reader, and hopefully a new and helpful member of this site. :3
