After all of the other Zelda games, I couldn't get into Ocarina of Time. It just felt wrong to me.

I agree it looked beautiful, but the play felt wrong for Zelda. I'm glad I still have the Gameboy versions to play.
I have the first two NES games on my Pocket PC to play too.

Wow
I've skimmed this thread a few times and found it odd that Ocarina of Time was not mentioned much other than existing in some of the lists.
If I had talk about my best gaming experience ever - it is, without a doubt, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Of course, I admit that I am not a hard core gamer and only indulge in one or two (new) games each year these days.
I was not a fan of the original Zelda games for the NES and SNES. I couldn't get in to them. But when Ocarina was about to come out, I read a lot about the previews of it and there was a great buzz about the game.
I got the game a month or two after it came out. I was immediately drawn in to the game and never wanted to turn it off once I was in there. I took my time getting through the adventure and spent about 4 months playing my way through it. I got stuck two or three times if memory serves - had to look up some things in a walkthrough, but otherwise the game ALWAYS had me glued, exploring my way through. Between the dungeon adventures, I'd often just roam around and see what little secrets I could unlock or just enjoy the virtual world of Hyrule for a while before entering the next major area.
This is the only game ever, that actually had me feeling a little down after I completed the adventure. It's never happened before, and never since. I actually missed the adventure as if it were a small part of my life that had come to an end (in a loose way). I felt really stupid about that feeling originally, until I had read that many other Ocarina gamers had the same feeling upon completion of the game. I played the adventure the whole way through about 4 or 5 times, but that first time was without a doubt, my best ever gaming experience.
I keep waiting for another game to suck me in as much as that one once did. I've found myself highly addicted to other games I've enjoyed since, but nothing has drawn me in to the level that Orarina did. The follow up of Majora's Mask was an awful dissappointment to me. I played it once all the way through a single time and never did again - I HATE timed games. That against-the-clock crap totally killed the experience for me. Timed mini-games withing a game are fine, but that experience was pretty much ALWAYS against the clock and I didn't care for the re-completing of major areas when I failed to do so within the 3-day time limit. And Windwalker (was that what it was called?) for the GC - didn't care for the toon-town look of cell shading and had no interest in the game at all. Game play means squat to me if the visual end is... well, just not what I care for - not in a Zelda game anyway. But Ocarina - THAT was an excellent experience!
Ok there. I got it out.
Am I the only Sector-Head to dig the game that much? (Ocarina I mean)
Here are 10 others (off the top of my head) that I've found to be great fun (no particular order):
TRON 2.0, PC
Battletoads, NES
Star Fox, SNES
Metroid, NES
Super Metroid, SNES
Metroid Prime, GC
Perfect Dark, N64
Earthworm Jim, SNES
Super Streetfighter II, SNES
Mortal Kombat, SNES

Can you believe I've never played a single Final Fantasy game in my life?
My top ten list...
1. Super Metroid (nothing has come anywhere near dethroning this game from my #1 spot)
the rest in no particular order...
Golden Sun
Metroid Prime
Super Mario World
Kingdom Hearts
Mrs. Pac-Man
Mortal Kombat
Grand Theft Auto III
SSX3
Zelda: OoT
I still want to try out katamari damacy. If it's as addictive as I think it is, it could be one of my new favorites.

Yes, I would definately include this as a notable favorite of mine. I thought the gameplay was cool and unique and challenging. Also there were enough side quests to turn this into a 100+ hour game. Not that I did any of them A good combination and example of how Square and Disney can work together to make an A+ game.

Since I have no loyalties to them anymore, I guess I can cough up a secret I had heard. They were planning to have a TRON level in KH2. Don't know if it's still going to be there, but I know artwork went to Square from 2.0 and I know there was a plan for it at one point. Hope it's still in the final game when it comes out.

Man, you're not kidding! I'm playing it again actually for the 3rd time through (on expert mode this time around) and I still haven't completed nearly 3/4 of the side missions/battles. This game has by far the best presentation of any game I've ever played. It's just got so much style and cinematic quality.

Surely, you tease! I haven't seen any screenshots or anything resembling a tron level for KH2. I guess it goes without saying how incredibly awesome it would be if they do in fact have a tron level. *drooooool*

Does any one remember that old game called Montezuma's revenger or the olympic games that were played on the IBM computers. They were both on 5.25 disks when the computers came out. with the amber monitors.

You think it's hard to get into Ocarina, just try Majora's Mask...OY!
BTW, I had a Great save in the Water Temple where you have a lil' fight against your shadow, just like at the end of Zelda 2.
I had it saved so I could go right to the battle and fight myself any time. LOTS of fun!
