I think it's still a challenging game today.

The commodore 64 came out with a game that was kind of like Lunar Lander called "Space Taxi". Anyone ever play that? I used to love that game.

Zaxxon is vexing. I got really good at it though. That was another one I could get 30 to 45 minutes out of a quarter on. People at my local arcade used to hate seeing me sit down at TRON, Battlezone, Robotron 2084 or Zaxxon because I would play forever. I actually got banned from putting quarters up for next games in two places. I had to give other people their turn.abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

That sounds vaguely familiar. I think I may have played that. Wasn't there an arcade version too?where to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online

Me personally was Gyruss and Pac man over here. Those two I could play for at last 45 minutes a game. Going through all of my men when I was playing them.

Lunar Lander...

I kind of have a C64 version of it named Jupiter Lander. That game = @!()$*#@#@!!!

I kept dying! XP (Once I landed perfectly, the damn ship exploded. ;_

And yes, Xenogears = win.

Space taxi-- http://www.lemon64.com/games/details.php?ID=2393

Jupiter Lander-- http://www.lemon64.com/games/details.php?ID=1403

BTW, the early C64 carts by Commodore tended to be arcade conversions of the original games: (sometimes, the names were changed!)

Rally X = Radar Rat Race
Lunar Lander = Jupiter Lander
Clowns = Clowns
Gorf = Gorf
Lemans = Lemans
? = Kickman
? = Star Post
? = Pinball Spectacular
Sea Wolf = Sea Wolf
? = Super Smash

That's all I can really think of. I own Radar Rat Race, Jupiter Lander, Gorf, Lemans, Kickman, Super Smash, and Star Post.

Jupiter Lander is definitely the poor man's version of Lunar Lander. The vector based arcade version was so much better.

Its cool to see the different games that we all had playedf at one point in the early 80's and 90's there. I think the ones that we have all mentioned here. given preferences for each of us that we like a particular game is a good thing.

Does any one remember that one game there that was played I think from a laser disk. ,i> I think not too sure. Where your riding on a futuristic motorbile there. I think it might have had a turbo on it. I don't recall the exact name of it. It was popular up here in Canada in the mid 80's i think.

Top 10 Console Games
(In no particular order)

Mega Man 2 - This may be the definitive 2D side-scroller of all time! Incredible graphics and sound for its day, plus incredibly intuitive control, unique character and stage design and the ability to upgrade the weapons of your defeated enemies into your own arsenal - all of these things make Mega Man 2 my all-time favorite video game! No other game has taken so many hours of my life like the Blue Bomber's second adventure!

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic I and II - The Sith Lords - By and far the best RPG ever created, imho. This took Star Wars and made it super-cool again. If only Lucas would go back and replace Jar-Jar Binks with HK-47! Then everyone would friggin' worship Episode I! These games had incredible stories, plus the ability to go on the path to the Light or Dark Side - with consequences from each path. In the sequel, you actually have influence over your party members, allowing you to turn them to the Dark Side or the Light Side as well as turn them into Jedi/Sith. The characters are all excellent, the music atmospheric, the weapons and costumes all cool because you'll see your character physically change with each new wardrobe (plus the impact the Dark/Light Side has on their bodies), the storylines completely engaging and the design of the game perfect. These two games definitely go with me onto the island!

Super Mario World - The only 2D scroller to give Mega Man 2 a run for its money! This game was a showcase of the Super NES and its power, bringing Mario beautifully and successfully to the 16-bit era. Cute designs, wonderful music, great boss fights and Yoshi make this an adventure worth taking any day of the week!

Halo 2 - What can I say? This game is THE reason to own an X-Box and, especially, X-Box Live! Incredible graphics and character design, plus some outstanding voice acting makes the campaign worthy of your time. Master Chief is your daddy! But the online playability is where it's at! I'll play this game forever due to X-Box Live! Red team has the flag!

NFL 2K5 - Dubbed the "Madden Killer" for a reason (see EA's buying of the entire sports world to stop the game's sequel), this is the most complete and satisfying sports game I've ever played! Incredible character models, a wonderful usage of the ESPN license (Chris Berman's Halftime and Post-Game shows are just awesome), and great control make this a timeless game. If you love sports games, you simply MUST own this game!

Perfect Dark - The best FPS I've played - until Halo 2 - was one of the crown jewels in Rare and Nintendo's final days with the N64. Dual-functioning weapons, a great "Blade Runner"-esque world to inhabit and an outstanding multi-player setup made this THE FPS to have back in the late 90s on the console front. Still enjoy playing this one!

Grandia II - One of my favorite games on the Sega Dreamcast, Grandia II was an old-school RPG that had the best fighting system I've ever seen on a game of its style. Definitely a wonderful story with characters I actually cared about. I hated to see them leave when they did and reveled in their return. I loved the story, music and graphics completely. Wonderful game.

F-Zero GX - When I first saw the original F-Zero on the Super NES, my tiny little mind couldn't handle the Mode 7 scaling effects the game put out. I couldn't wait to see its newest incarnation on the GameCube. And it sure didn't disappoint! Absolutely beautiful graphics and 60 fps with 30 cars racing on-screen help to deliver one of the fastest games ever developed. Every other racing game pales in comparison to the speed seen in F-Zero GX! The soundtrack (especially Captain Falcon's theme song) is off the hook and the extra features (shop, garage, editor) help create a wholly satisfying experience! If you have a GameCube, you should DEFINITELY have this g

I see more than one person has listed Dragon's Lair as an arcade favorite. This was one of mine too, so I picked up Dragon's Lair 3D for the X-Box and really enjoyed it. Has anyone else played this?

I posted about this guy's LedHead program in another topic, but I noted his Lunar Lander 2000 program on his site too. Not great, but kind of neat for fans of the game.

You should also check out his amazing photos of hispersonal arcade. Aliens in the arcade was da bomb too! That also counts as my margin of error! Ooop, also Sprint and Ironman Ivan Stewart's Super Off Road. Just catapulting the wheel to one side to turn never gets old!

Cyberball was good too...I'd better stop, don't want to exceed my daily bandwidth... (Note: flynn1978 does not have to worry about exceeding bandwidth, he is just saying that for a cheap laugh. We now return you to your regularly scheduled program.)

I used to play an futuristic arcade game quite a bit but I cant remember what it was called. You racing a futuristic bike (think jet moto) through tunnels and stuff, by turning you actually just strafe left and right (even up the walls and on the ceiling --some bonuses if you time it right and go into upper tunnel)

The acrcade game itself was shaped like the bike, which you sat on.

Anyone know what Im talking about?

You're talking about S.T.U.N. Runner. It's on the list I posted. I loved that game; finished it, too.

Yes, I do remember that one. I do not remember the name of it though, unfortunately. It came out about the same time as Firefox and that other Laser Disc jet fighter game whose name escapes me ATM.
