Oh YEAH! Another GREAT time on the light cycle game grid!

Tonight I had the pleasure of competing with (in no particular order): Trai[LC]utter, Honko, Joshua (two newer players, I think), Cyber_Slave, bit, Nuke v.1.2[LC], Strand, megakiller_byte, BANTAM, DJDEREZZ, Nano, GENTLE ANGEL, -I- Isaac [DR], Corruption[PGB], and finally, ShivaGoddess and her partner on the game grid and off, Layer.

Man - it was GREAT to see so many of the regulars out there tonight, and some new ones too.

I was asked a few times (on the game grid) what I've been up to and why I'm not on the game grid as much these days.

Ok - I'm about to ramble a little about non-light cycle gaming for a moment, please feel free to skip to the end

I've been working on my off again, on again creative project - a music video ode to a great decade and a popular song from that decade. I started it in February, and worked on it here and there, but kept dropped it because of the time involved to make it and I kept getting bored with it and wondering if it was really worth the time and effort.

Well, for about two weeks now, I've been on a creative binge and I have been making some progress with it. Unfortunately, this means I have to let something else slide as there is only so much time in a day... and so my light cycling activities had to be put on hold for a while.

Sadly, this thread has gotten very, very slow.

Why?

I know other people are out there tearing up the game grid - why not take a moment and announce that you're on? Why not follow up with a silly story or two?

Must I be the ONLY dedicated, long-winded, couldn't shut up about his light cycle activities if he tried guy?

I get busy sometimes and can't post as often or hit the game grid, but I'd like to think that other people LOVE their light cycle activities enough to post about it.

Well, the good news is that I might actually complete my minute and a half, image composite-heavy, silly, strange, and FUN video project in a few more weeks... or months or so. Yes, it's THAT short, but takes forever when I only have an hour or two to dedicate to it on week days. PLUS I keep changing my mind as to what to put in it and do with it - I have no game plan, I keep improvising with only some basic ideas that keep morphing in my head as I go along. This past week, I finished the articulated mouth frames for the alien-head thing, and animated the first phrase. I spend so much time on this little thing that will populate my finished video for only a few seconds... am I crazy? Um... probably. Oh well, that's me!

Anyway, enough non-light cycle babble from me.

Tonight on the game grid as a great time, and loads of fun. Trai[LC]utter was doing a lot of trail chasing - in which he weaves very intricate mazes in the process - it's really cool to watch. I tried some trail chasing myself, but I'm not very good at it. My reflexes are not nearly as tight as they need to be for that kind of thing. But it's fun to try.

I also found out that ShivaGoddess has been busy working on a LC grid... that will supposedly feature some of the phrases we use out there when we compete. This should be VERY interesting!

And of course, I hit some walls tonight. Those DAMN walls! And blocks too!

Well, it was fun tonight.

I got on the Grid last night with Shiva, Layer, and a slew of others to find that many were chatting back and forth via TeamSpeak. I fired up my client and it let me listen in on the conversations, but I could only respond via chat-- good, but not great. So I biked down to Radio Shack to pick up a microphone and was soon back in business! Now I can actually talk to my Lightcycling friends while on the Circuit! What fun!

Haven't been hiding - just VERY BUSY lately!

As I stated in my rather long-winded previous post, I've been working on a personal creative project lately, and finally making some progress. Been riding a creative wave for about three weeks now. But my personal time is scarce, so to work on creative projects... well something has to give

I am a little disappointed to see this thread just wither when I'm not posting here... thankfully The Tweaker and ShivaGoddess have chosen to breathe some life in to the game grid thread spirit Thanks for keeping it alive guys!

Hopefully, others will too in the future!

Oh, and no "Doom" over here. Believe it or not, I'm really not much of a gamer... I'm more of a TRONer If I had more spare time, I'd probably hit many more games, but time is an elusive beast in my life unfortunately.

I found crash out there, in "spectators mode" - he was away from his PC. I played a few warm up rounds by myself, doing some trail-tail chasing and stuff. Crash soon joined in the game and we played a few rounds. It's always fun playing against a master light cyclist like him - I learn a lot that way. We were soon joined by perge.exe and we all played for about two or three circuits before they had to leave.

In the short time I was on - I hit several walls. Those damn wall magnets!
