well you can always send those out with the discs
For everyone who is wondering a devolper xbox a very large and expensive xbox with essentially the hardware unloced and a nice dev pakage, it was in the $8k range last time I checked.

Actually what I think it would work if the beta was done in two phases. Inhouse for the first round (like an extended alpha), second round do a limited run of xbox beta discs that will play in a normal xobx. Have the beta testors submit bugs to a central website. The beautiy of this test is that you get to try out xbox live across the country. And also have a variety of people providing final input on the game. I belive it would be benifitial for the game (must as i respect BVI and mons work, good to get outside feedback). I know it might be tough to pull it off, but i have faith in BVI, dave, and cliff you can do it!!!!

Wonderful news! The more TRON there is in the world, the better!
Frankly, I hope there are many new things added to the game, other than just Xbox Live support. New single-player levels, remixed levels...bring it on! And let me add my voice to those calling for Co-op!
And for those of you who don't wish to support Microsoft by buying an Xbox, why not buy one used? Hit your local pawnshops, Gamestop, or even Ebay. Buy a used Xbox and send a message to the MAN!

oh no! jet's been corrupted!...... oh, that's xbox, i get it. So, jet moving to the xbox makes him part of the corruption eh?
Anyway, I feel the same way as everyone else here it seems. I'm glad Tron 2.0 will reach a larger audience, but having already bought it for PC and don't own an xbox, it makes no difference to me.

I like the Xbox Green glow, Jet's revised suit and the little Xbox "X" on Mercury's suit. Being able to choose them in the PC version when playing MP games and being able to play on the new maps on the PC would be appreciated.
I'm probably never going to buy an Xbox (or any other console for that matter) because I already have plenty of money invested in my PC (not to mention that I'm planning to build a new PC after PCI-Express motherboards are released) and barely enough time to enjoy it as it is.
I think console-exclusive content is a good way to sell games, but it stinks when the content is never made available at a later date on the PC, especially when the success of the PC version was what made the console version possible.
Take a look at Half-Life: Blue Shift. That entire episode of the Half-Life experience would've been console exclusive if we PC gamers (who have poured tons of cash into the franchise) didn't raise a stink (and I'm sure the impending demise of the Dreamcast didn't hurt.) We got Blue Shift, but we still got stiffed out of the PS2's Half-Life: Decay co-op game and the extra Alien Slave levels. My brother-in-law has HL for the PS2, and I've tried to play the alien part of the game, but I can't play a FPS with those freakin' control pads and the fun is completely sucked out of the game.
We know HL for the PS2 isn't the best selling console game ever. It didn't make anywhere near the money the PC version made, and still makes. But do PC gamers have HL: Decay or the chance to play as an Alien Slave? No. And it isn't right.
I sincerely hope that PC gamers get to d/l at least some of the new content, if there won't be an expansion pack that it can be included in. I'd even be willing to pay $5.00 for the new stuff if that's what it takes.

DaveTRON Wrote:So, it's announced. What do you think? |
Well, I first found out about it over on GameSpot. I got a glimpse of "TRON 2.0: Killer App" and thought maybe it was an expansion pack, so I'll admit I was a little deflated to find out it was merely an Xbox portage.
That being said, though, I like the two implications that spring to mind: (1) Disney thinks that TRON 2.0 is worthy of the time/money investment to get it ported and (2) that there's a potential audience for it on the Xbox.
I own both a PC and an Xbox. I don't have Live; even though I have cable internet, the Xbox is in a different room, which means either (a) a wireless network - which is rather cost-prohibitive - or (b) running a long Cat5 cable to the Xbox from my PC, which might mean drilling some holes in the floor (not good when you consider the house of my lady and I is rented). Still, I'd be tempted to buy it if for no other reason than to support the property (and adding another demographic point in favour of a sequel and/or TV series).order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pill Fortune Favour You,

Hi, Compucore,
I hope you'll pardon me, but I tend to roll my eyes whenever someone says the Xbox is "just a PC pretending to be a console" or something along those lines. Let's face it; any console, be it a PlayStation 2 or a Game Cube (keeping to the current generation) is, at its core, a computer. It computes, using silicon transistors, logic gates and other extrapolations of the same basic technology. The Xbox, like all the other consoles on the market, is a computer designed to play games. It just uses some parts that a user of a Windows-based PC might find familiar.
Heck, some smart-arses even set up a server cluster consisting entirely of Playstation 2s running a Linux distro "based on an earlier version of Red Hat Linux for PC's". Check it out:

And if you won't take it from me, take it from Randy Pitchford, the guy who headed up the team at Gearbox who ported Halo from the Xbox to the PC:

Imagine I don't mind at all for a reply back on this. I'm just mentioning for the fact that the Xbox itself is using technology that is based on computers using the windows environment tin order to play the games in this particular machine. I've personally seen the spec of the xbox. And I have seen and read about using xbox as an example for a print server, dumb terminal, etc. As well as what you had mention for the PS/2.
Whtether they are windows based, red hat based, SkyOS, Based, or what ever OS varient based. Its just a plain old pc in this case being used thats all I'm saying.

:-) Thanks CompuCore. I do see your point, and I've heard of those "alternate uses" for the Xbox. I think it's why a few friends of mine were thinking of getting one - they wanted a cheap web server for their home!
... and listen, are you sure it's just a plain old PC? I thought that nVidia actually designed a variant graphics chip that, while based on their GeForce4 technology, wasn't actually one of the GeForce4 chips that were available for PC graphics cards. Fortune Favour You,

I'm absolutely sure that it is a 100% PC in that machine the only thing that is different from the others like the PS2 like the cube and all that. Take a look at the specifications on it. They mention type of CPU that is in there. A Intel PIII 733 MHZ processor, 64 megs of ram. THe NVidia Chipset for the videocard/display. And of course the hard disk of 10-20 gigabytes in size. I do not know if they are using the Maxtors 8-20 gig hard drive for storage. The others machines do not carry Computer components like that at all in the others. I've taken a look on the web site. I cannot remember which one specifically. I'll scope it out tonight to make sure that I can post the link. And you can see the difference between the new consoles. And what they have inside them.
Not to knock the other consoles down either. They are all good console gaming macines just that they have different things in them that make them different from the others. The chip set alone for the Xbox itself was made in conjunction with Xbox at the time of development. And its a great graphics card to have in any machine even ithe console.
Here is a sample of what I was able to get just now. Its a web site from teh UK showing the spevification of some of the console including the Xbox.
Gaming
Consoles
I think personally Even though this is a quick search on consoles themselves. Everone who is interested ing something like this should take a look into it. Its like buying a car, house, or Computer for that matter. I try and get the research done on things like this. Enjoy.

This is a little off topic, but it's about the Xbox basicly being a PC. In my opinion, the reason some ppl may prefere a consol over a PC is because if you put the game in it WILL work. There is no need to worry about your specific configuration. So, even if the Xbox is a PC in console clothing, if you put an Xbox game in it will work.

Yeah, this is true. I was unlucky enough to get one of the first batch of US Dreamcasts. MK and Sonic were both so buggy I returned the system. But, in general anyway, consoles tend to be easier to play games on cause that's their main function. Don't you wish your corruption was hot like me? |

As a rule, I don't trust something used unless it's in good shape.
A used X-Box? Trust level in negative numbers. :P (From what I recall, someone took a picture of X-Box blue screening, but I cannot verify it. Mostly likely false, but in any case, if X-boxes have been known to have problems... eek!)
I hope I don't sound too negative here. If I do, hit me with discs!
