Don LaFontaine has passed away

on Tuesday, September, 02, 2008 5:37 AM
Don LaFontaine, commonly known as the 'the voice' from movie trailers, passed away yesterday at 68.

If you don't know who he is, check out this video. He has voiced over 5,000 trailers and commercials, and has probably the most distinctive voice in cinema.

He will be sadly missed. Movie trailers will never be the same again.

Rest in peace.on line abortion pill misoprostol dose abortion medical abortion pill online

Shoot. He was the only good voiceover guy. The only other guy is this loser:

And I'm talking about the narrator.

Very sad, as he was, in my opinion, the best announcer guy from the movie trailers. Heck, the only reason I ever went to see the movie trailers in the theatres was to hear his voice booming over the speaker system.

Man! Seems like many of the last remaining greats are passing on to the other realm en masse. I'll miss Don LaFontaine. He was definitely a voice to remember, and I count him among a group of VA/VO actors whom I consider as my favorites: Peter Cullen (G1 Transformers Optimus Prime, Movie Optimus Prime, Eeyore, Naruto commercials, etc.), Frank Welker (G1 Transformers Megatron, Scooby Doo, etc.), Vic Caroli, Keith David (Dead Presidents, NAVY commercials, and several documentaries), Chris Latta (the original voice of Starscream and G.I. Joe Cobra Commander), John Kassir (the Crypt Keeper; sounds alot like Chris Latta), Keifer Sutherland, and Corey Burton (G1 Transformers Shockwave, as well as an almost identical David Warner-as-Sark impression in the TRON segment of Kingdom Hearts II). The voice world will have a huge void, and I'm sure Don LaFontaine is wowing his heavenly colleagues in the movie theater of the afterworld.

That man had amazing pipes. Hearing his voice-over during movie trailers always made the films seem that much cooler.

Rest in peace, Mr. LaFontaine.
