Ok, so today, my computer was being really weird. I got my dad to help with me over the phone (he was at work) and I had NO IDEA what it was he was talking about. So I searched around some and found a USB thing. (which wasn't what he was talking about. Actually, it was our music/video/other randomness source). It started beeping. Which wasn't good.

I unplugged that after trying to describe what it was, FINALLY finding what had actually gone wrong, and now for some reason, one of my messengers doesn't work. No big deal. Not what really matters. Not why I'm never touching electronics like that again.

I had, in my anger and trying to find out what I was supposed to do, totally DESTROYED our mediatub. Everything we once had is now gone, thanks to my stupid incompetent self. I'm surprised he didn't punish me or anything.

oh, AND, I experienced for the first time the Blue Screen Of Death. Literally made me cry, for I was positive everything else was just dead.

I have no idea what the messengers have anything to do with the main hard drive.

Anyway, today I have learned that I'm one of those Users he's always talking about that annoy him at work. I might as well not even be able to tell the computer from the monitor or if something isn't turned on.

Tori it happens to the best of us as well. Even for old gits like myself who have been in it for about 15-20 years. There is an old addage that I have to remind myself every morning. Everyday is a learning day. You have learnt something from this experience and at least you didn't loose that much data from it either. I know this from everyday experience in computer tech.

By the sounds of it your USB thing has installed something onto your system which has caused Windows to screw up. You could always do a system restore its not hard to do. Go to:

Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore.

If your running XP or Vista, windows should have backed itself up before installing the USB drive. All your documents will be fine it will just roll back to before windows messed itself up. Dont be scared to give system restore a go because its not that hard to do. Its designed to be easy to use hence why windows backs itself up and you dont have to worry about it.

Why do you think I know alot about PCs and devices? I am like "hmm whats this do? *plugs it in and pc breaks*....hmmm okay system restore time" dont worry about it ignore the messages they dont tell you anything that helpfull it will be something like 00000000x00 memory crap lol. Give system restore a go see what happenes, let us know. I'll be away all next week so if you have any questions post on here as soon as you can I live in the UK so if your in the states I wont be awake when its late where you are. But any more issues write the messages down and post them here I'll see if I can find out what they mean for you.

Dont worry Vista Ultimate isnt suppost to even have a blue screen of Death they didnt program it to have one. Yet I managed to give it one LOL!!!! try and figure that one out!

As a computer tech, I started out messing up and doing worse damage than you did. I learned by trial and error, therefore I'm self taught (well, I do have some Comp TIA training too).

I'm sorry that you had to experience it, but you didn't really do anything wrong. If you ever need any help, me and the other PC freaks here will be more than willing to help. The good thing about this is that if I can't help you, someone else can.... and if they can't help you, then.... well... you're screwed... lol.. kidding...

I think that's not the real name for the thing...it's just what it had been named.

Anyway, we're not suffering too badly, and I've gotten over my anger after some sleep and watching The Man Who Fell To Earth...

now I'm a bit better...even if MSN doesn't work on my computer anymore....which is weird...and frustrating...but I can live without it.
