Sorry if this has been posted before. I don't remember seeing it and could not find it on a search.

That was awesome! Thanks for sharing, man. I love the "bit" tests; those were really cool.
Man, I love watching stuff about TRON that I've never seen before, especially from the '80s. order abortion pill morning after pill price where to buy abortion pill

hehe nice find, i've seen it before but this is the first time i've watched the whole thing. hmm... it makes u wonder what animation will be like in 20 years time from now. my guess is that it'll be so realistic that there will be no more actors, just voice actors. what do u guys think?
My humble little internet slice. Visit, read, comment, and laugh (with, not at I hope...)

CGI Clark Gable?! I'll pass.
Makeup man looks like the caveman from Geico.
Still, very prophetic, yet not so scary anymore.

My guess is our desktops are faster now than that Cray was.
I was a little sad when the one guy confidently asserts "Computer animation will never take the place of miniatures".

Sounds about right. And it was a risc pased CPU and not like the regular CISC processors that were used during the time back then. The only competitor that I know that is using Risc based processors is AMD since Risc uses a lot less energy to run on a typical computer. AMD came out with a risc based computer when they introduced the AMD K6 model of CPU.

To compute or not to compute that is the question at hand. Tis nobler to compile in C++ or in TASM.

I love the shape of the Cray-2 supercomputer. It reminds me of the MCP! The backlit-"waterfall", which pumped the Fluorinert, also looks awesome.abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

Didn't the video say it was half the speed of light? Or did I hear wrong?
It looked rather stationary to me.

I've seen that before. Can't remember if it was posted here or if someone e-mailed it to me.
Either way - it's a really cool trip down memory-chip lane of computer animation.
I wish computer animation hadn't replaced miniatures. There was a whole different feel to miniatures that has been lost in "realistic" computer animation. Maybe I'm just an old fart, but I miss the old-school ways. Not that today's computer animation isn't spectacular (when done right and used well).

I agree...I like the way miniatures look better, too. In some cases I forgive the use of CGI instead of them (as with Babylon 5--they had half the budget of the average Star Trek episode and the CGI spaceships not only looked more _alien_, but were way cheaper to make) but I think the more solid, material oldschool special effects have this look of their own that the computer stuff can't duplicate.
I mean, like the original Star Wars movies. What's _wrong_ with the way they look, huh? So it's not totally polished. So what? I still totally _believe_ the effects and ships and whatnot. It gives that universe this more kind of beat-up, used, "lived-in" feel--everything isn't all perfect and shiny, and it makes it seem more realistic.
Don't get me wrong, naturally I like CGI when done well and _when appropriate_, but I think that just because it CAN replace just about everything nowadays (visually), doesn't mean it _should_.
You ever watch Red Dwarf, TheReelTodd? I say this because in the commentary versions on the DVDs, the actors in that show get into conversations about CGI vs. models for ships _so freaking often_...and they are ALWAYS strongly on the side of models. Your post made me think of that. (At some point during the show they switched from model ships to CGI...the actors are often trying to figure out when that happened, which is why that conversation keeps coming up.)
