TRON - YouTube'd

on Thursday, October, 19, 2006 3:59 PM
A YouTube member, known as Mercury3 has uploaded all of TRON to YouTube in parts (here is Part One).

Now, I don't agree with usage of copyrighted material on YouTube, but I have never bothered to act about it, until now that my favourite movie is up on it.

I would like to see these videos removed (and possibly the member banned - most of Mercury3's other videos are copyrighted TV shows in parts), but would not know how to go about it. In the pre-Google days, YouTube's response to queries and copyrighted videos has been poor.

I don't know whether it will do any good, but if all of us flag these videos (there is a button saying 'Flag as Inappropriate', then choose 'Other Terms of Use Violation), then something may be done to remove them.

Just thought I'd let you all know about this.abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

You could forward your concerns directly to Disney. I bet they'd be faster on the draw than youtube.

Maybe even 'draw' in the literal gun-slinging sense...

It is definitely not cool to go uploading an entire copyrighted film and allow everyone to see it without the proper authority to do so. A few clips to wet people's appetite and make them want to see the film is one thing, but the entire film is wrong.

I'm not sure if much can be done about it. I'm sure the authorities at YouTube get flooded with thousands of e-mails regarding this copyrighted infringement or that, or just people who want various videos taken down for various reasons. I doubt a human actually reads through it all - I'm sure there is some kind of automated system that filters things and forwards specific criteria to a human to deal with. What exactly that criteria is, I don't know. I'm not going to waste my time trying to get their attention because I've tried before and nothing ever happens, so not going to bother with that anymore.

Anyway, let's look at the good side of this. It is giving some people a glimpse in to our favorite film and past time and maybe even prompting some to go out and buy/rent a good quality DVD. The quality of the YouTube video was distorted vertically, low resolution, mono sound (which sometimes is not even audible) and pretty dark (yeah - I watched the 1st clip of it to see how it turned out quality-wise). The DVD of course, is much prettier to look at.

If a Disney authority or YouTube authority stumbles across it, I'm sure some action will be taken.

Again, bummer this guy uploaded copyrighted material - our FAVORITE film, without permission (and any monetary compensation going to the copyright holder), but maybe it will win over a new fan or two there.

EDIT: I took forever to write this post and didn't see Todd's message, which is basically what I said. Great minds think alike, eh, Todd?

Yes, I has noticed about the whole TRON movie in YouTube for quite some time now. I have mixed opinions about this subject in general.

First, the pros. Someone who has never seen TRON, watches it for the first time on YouTube, might become a fan and just has to buy the DVD. Long story short, this introduces TRON to new audiences.

Another pro is the crappy picture and sound on YouTube. While this maybe bad for some users, people who really liked the film and want to watch it over and over again will realize they need the DVD because it saves them internet costs and they'll have better picture quality and sound. Can you understand what I'm saying?

Normally, I don't like copyrighted stuff on YouTube, except for stuff that's rarely seen (music videos, old '50s-'60s TV shows, Soupy Sales, commercials, movies not on DVD, shows not on TV or DVD etc.). Stuff like TRON, where you can buy or rent at any retail store or oline store, on YouTube is not that great when you think about it.abortion pills online abortion questions cytotec abortion

To Dakota: It's not good, though. People will see it, and then not go out and buy it. If we want any more stuff, then we need to make as much $$ as possibl for Disney, to warrant a sequel.

Most people wouldn't touch Tron with a 10 foot stick, why would they watch it on youtube? :/

If anything, youtube probably will get rid of it since Google bought youtube out. (I've been hearing that copyrighted videos are vanishing from youtube.com... what, 20,000 clips?)

It'll eventually get removed if it's reported properly.

I have mixed feelings about this. While I think it's not right to post the whole freakin' movie on the net, it is in poor enough quality that it might make some dedicated Users go out and by the DVD.

And maybe they will be converted into fans like us.

It all looks so easy on the other side of the screen!

They've been removed by the user after I left a comment about how Disney would be extremely upset over this.

Supposedly, the user replied to my comment but I never saw it. Poo.order abortion pill http://unclejohnsprojects.com/template/default.aspx?morning-after-pill-price where to buy abortion pill
