Recognizer Cockpit Model

on Friday, April, 21, 2006 3:04 PM
Hi!

I thought i better start a new thread, because the old
one with different models in it became a bit messy.

I did more work on the cockpit and started to model
the glowing lines, because the other method (just rendered edges) only gave me limited control.

I think it looks quite a bit better now.

Excellent stuff. I eagerly await the progression of this model... Looks pretty true to the movie so far!

I always found it really cool in the movie when the glowing lines flipped up and down the cone part of the controls with that 'perrrbloooooob' sound effect. It'd be sweet if you could animate that.

Hi!

Thank you all for the flowers

Yeah, that effect in the steering-column is pretty neat,
but i guess it will be hard to get that working.

I was wondering why my picture looks a bit different then
the shots in the movie, when you look out of the recognizer.

I noticed, that they removed the 2 "screens" left and right near the
steering column, because, i think, it obstructed the view too much.

You can see them from the inside in the scene when Flynn and Ram are laying inside the Recognizer, but after that, they are gone.

Too bad, that there are no shots of the real stage they are used.

I remember, that the Recognizer was designed by someone else, but i'm sure that Syd Mead designed the cockpit.
His fingerprints are everywhere

Speaking of his design.... i really really like the tank-cockpit too, and if i will ever have the time ill do that too
Its one of my favourite scenes, in the beginning with CLU in the tank.

Hehe, right now (after i finally bought Lightwave ), i spend
pretty much of my spare time modelling.
I dont have a long way to work, because i live right at work.
So work is only 2 doors away.

After i bring my daughter to bed at 7:00pm ,its Lightwave-time.
My wife has to learn for her medical education,
so she's happy if i dont disturb her
But that wont stay forever, so im happy about every micro-cycle.

Damn cool stuff there as always, Cueball!

Why model a Flynn? Why not take the lazy way out and have a bit drive it? That's probably something I'd do, although I'd never be able to model the Recognizer cockpit, let alone with the accuracy you're going to...

But seriously, I can't wait to see your Flynn, if he's up to the standard of modelling you've been showing off lately

Again, neat work!
