I recall a few years back reading that TRON stood for "To Run On Nothing". Someone posted that at the end of the arcade game TRON that saying appeared after all the credits. I never really liked that answer but until today have not found anything better.
Bored silly I did a google search and found this at this site:

The movie name "Tron" came from a keyword implemented in BASIC, especially the Microsoft flavor included with IBM PCs in the original 1980 ROMs.
TRON stands for TRACE ON, and sets the BASIC interpreter into a debugging mode. Every time a new line of the BASIC code would execute, the line number would get PRINTed. Presumably, the programmer would be able to see whether all of the lines in a subroutine were being executed as expected.
In the movie, Tron was a program that was designed to audit the other programs running in the mainframe computer. Metaphorically the same sort of idea.
The command to turn off BASIC Trace mode was TROFF, not to be confused with the Unix command troff(1) (table run-off formatter).

I've seen this little bit of trivia so many times. 
On the DVD, i think in the commentary, it is difinitively anounced that TRON comes directly from 'elecTRONic', as the character is himself electronic.
In an issue of 3d world the editor also mentions this trace on term, but its definatly from electronic.where to buy abortion pill abortion types buy abortion pill online

Tron is soooo much better than MCP!
If that wasn't true, Tron would've been the one who was defeated in the movie.

Actually, Tron was about to have his booty kicked by the MCP. It was Flynn who defeated the big guy.

It should be obvious...
Dumont is the greatest program! I mean, really, sure he was old, but he had mystical powers and stuff, and was able to easily hold back Sark and co. until he let himself be captured to let that punk Tron escape!
Dumont was clearly the greatest program. After all, the MCP wasn't interested in accquiring Tron or Flynn, he wanted Dumont.
Dumont clearly rocks the digital world.
