Greetings programs!
I finally finished up one of my small projects... a grid backup device as seen in TRON: Legacy. In short, it's a 8GB USB flash drive embedded in a resin replica of the device Sam used at the end of the movie.
The replica is made from white resin colored with tiny particles of silver mixed in.
It's not perfect, but I thought it was interesting enough to share.

Very nice. Add a blue LED to the center and a lanyard, and it'd be perfect.

I thought about that, but it becomes difficult to do well. Depending on the flash drive, many have the capacity for an LED to be added. The problem is how to make it visible.
I could use a clear resin, but then you are left with painting the rest silver. Paint tends to rub off too easily though. By including silver particles in the resin itself, the finish will never wear off and gives a better overall impression, IMHO.

No, the discs have become too rare now and my free time has all but vanished. It's taken me a year alone to finish this small project and a few others.
