Tron needless to say is my favourite flick. This is something I've been planning on doing for a long time, subsequently it was straight from my heart which made it as exciting as it gets to work on.
I began with the cooper sk2000 M, built around the lower back of the head / neck area with some fun foam, cut it to the reasonably accurate shape and length and molded it. I melted my sulphur free chavant and poured ..
A fairly raw clay pour :doh
but I was determined to make it work, so I set to sculpting. My best friends ended up being exacto blades, a few metal sculpting tools and of course 99% alcohol.
I wanted to circuits to be "set in", and as a result make production a little less harrowing. I had originally intended to simply mask off the areas, and then thought about going completely mental doing it over and over, nevermind continuity. "Scribing" the circuits made so much more sense.
and continued over a period of months on the circuits, using millimeters for measurement, incredible how the slightest difference can throw the look of the circuits, so I often revised each circuit until it was a close as I could humanly get it.

I began in January and finished the main sculpt a few weeks ago.
     Molding:
I then molded it and created the stone master, seenhere before final finishing to get that "Made by a computer" look, or as close to it as I can get.!

I have 2 productions molds ready and the prototype is curing. The helmets wil be cast in liquid tinted plastic, super strong and completely wearable. Blue or red being the options.
To finally see something I love take form like this is a thrill to say the least, I cannot wait to light up the proto.
As I said this started out purely as a very personal project as something I have ALWAYS wanted. I have since had a baby, moved and am starting a ridiculously expensive program in February, so I'm doing a run of 20 of the Flynn helmets. Ill be offering a fully illuminated version and a non lit budget version for those who wish to light it up themselves. It's a one size helmet as per the film, the large Cooper and Medium cooper have the exact same shell with different padding for sizing. I'm using this method for sizes, hence the helmet will fit any old noggin. The "deluxe" helmets will be lit via EL tape. The budget ones will be the finished helmet minus lighting and padding. Ill be posting up images of the prototype this week with prices etc.
Thanks programs for looking, will be posting shots of the fully lit proto over the next couple of days.

That's incredible - great work, program!
I'm looking forward to the final result... though I have to admit I'm a much bigger fan of diffused LEDs than EL tape for the final versions.
Any idea what the budget / non-budget models will cost, give or take $30?

Very Very nice Mayne. Well worth the effort of painting.
I assume you just have a light bulb underneath for the lighting. For a display cabinet, this is better than perfect.
Any ideas on how to make a "portable" lit version?

Heya thanbks for the kind words, its a thrill to see them lit I can tell you.!
Lightwise yep thats just a cheap work lamp, I recommend either led lights or EL tape.
The lights may be easier to manage.
Thanks again

very impressive work!
I guess I'll have to pose the inevitable question. Since you're using a cast. Will you be making some you would consider selling?where to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online

These are for sale actually, my primary thread is on the RPF, but blanks are $325 + shipping. I
literally have no time between an intense animation program and a new baby.
I can tell you how I painted these of course.
Just let me know
