Does anyone else find it awkward in the first movie when Flynn starts babbling about the ship's walls?

If we're talking about the scene where Him and Yori are in the chamber where Sark is torturing Dumont, then I've always assumed that it was some kind of FORCEFIELD, like the one's in the prisoner cells where he met Ram.

Yeah, that's the scene. It just seems odd. TRON is killed, they are captured, and he's examing his cell wall, LOL.

I only blame the animation of the scene, and what seems to be a mistimed edit. I know what Flynn's talking about. Sark's carrier is being derezzed, but the scene in the cell is placed too early in the film instead of right before they run out the door. The weakening walls of the holding cell mean a chance to escape. What we don't see is a visual representation of the weakening he's sensing with his hands. We only see the large white square of derezzing field the carrier is passing through from the outside, and we only see the wall go from fully-intact in appearance, to a sudden fade-out. When Flynn tells Yori to look, we the audience look, and see nothing happening, but Yori doesn't care at that second anyway, heh. She shows the effect before the walls ever do.

I know the scene you guys are talking about. I suspect that as a User, he was able to sense some hole in the walls that they could escape out of. We don't see it, but it may have been edited out or incomplete. This may imply that he used his powers to 'derezz' a wall with his hands and so he 'hacked' through it.
The other possibility is that Sark's derezzing scuttle may have affected the one side of the wall and they were able to slip out quickly before the holding chamber dissolved. The problem is that when Flynn jumped down to the MCP, how the hell did Yori get down to the ground if the ship is being derezzed?

Of course he is trying to find a way out LOL. But he didn't find one (I don't think). The carrier was derezzing, and Yori and Flynn were going to be derezzed with it. Yori was resigned, but Flynn was still trying to find a way out.
Huge as it was, the carrier did not derezz instantaneously, but rather in stages, progressively. As the carrier deresovled, the cell walls became less substantial, giving them a way to escape, but only after Flynn used his user powers to restore Yori.
They slipped out together through the wall.

It's not explict, but I assume Sark locked them in. (He wouldn't have just left the door open, or they would have just walked out.) They escaped because the walls were partially derezzed, just like Yori was partially derezzed before Flynn brought her back.
Maybe I'm full of it, but that's the only way the scene makes sense to me.
