This is incorrect. As stated by Steven Lisberger in the 20th Anniversary DVD commentary (or the Making of Tron documentary), Tron originates from the word "electronic". This is because of the first character his studio made (and later used in it's logo) with backlight animation. He described the backlight animation process as "painting with electricity", and felt that the character he had made for the company logo was an "Electronic man", thus leading to the name Tron, which he later used as the name of a movie you may have heard of.

Lisberger was not made aware of the Tracer On BASIC command until after the movie came out. He has stated in several interviews that the name similarities are a coincidence.

Clu's name is, of course. Not sure about Ram, Crom, Yori, etc.

One thing I always had trouble with in writing fic is that nobody actually gives programs names like that. Instead they'd all be running around: "Yo, Firefox!" "hey there Excel!" "You seen Safari anywhere?" "No, and that jerk's trying to take my job. Hey, I was gonna go drinking with Dreamweaver later, you wanna go?"

Not quite the same ring. But still, when I'm writing, I just can't make myself give my programs names like SharePoint and AdAware and Garageband.where to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online

But they did back in the 80s. Apart from the 8.3 naming conventions on some filesystems it was beneficial for command-line programs that would be run from batch files/shell scripts to have nice short names to keep the size of the scripts nice and small. If the ENCOM system had interacted with DOS and CP/M systems you may have encountered programs on the grid with names like PIP and EDLIN. order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pill

Ram's name is a no brainer. It's a reference to RAM (Random-Access Memory), which takes the form of integrated circuits that allow stored data to be accessed in any order with a worst case performance of constant time. Basically, it's a computer term. I wouldn't be surprised if there are other characters in the TRON universe that are named after computer terms.
