Alright. So, I haven't posted here in awhile, I've just been looking around and reading things. I only thought about posting if I saw something MAJOR- well, I did. I've found an easter egg that pretty explicitly shows exactly WHAT Sam is downloading onto his chip at the end of the movie- something thats been the subject of debate for quite some time. Some say it was Kevin he downloaded, some say it was Tron, some say it was the entire grid. Well, we know what it is now.

The grid.

Allow me to explain. Disney released an iPad app called "Disney Second Screen" that shows things like concept art and film-maker quotes that are related to whats being shown on screen. It connects to your Blu-Ray player to display context-relevant bonus features. One of these bonus features is a never-before-seen video that supposedly shows what's on the computer screen when Sam downloads the info to his chip.

First we see an image of the chip, and text scrolling that's shows Sam logging in (it says "user: root. pass: sam.") and then it says "Downloading files to chip: TRON WORLD" and a loading bar with two graphics- one is a stack of discs (to represent the data on the computer) and another that is the chip, with an arrow pointing from the discs, to the chip. At the bottom you see a bunch of random file names (supposedly the ones being transferred) all of which are things that are in the Tron world, such as "Endoflineclub.zip" etc etc.

I think it's pretty obvious what they're trying to convey here. I'm going to be searching through the app for more easter eggs and hints.

I've wondered that about flash drives/discs/etc. I would assume in stasis until you plug it in and it has power-- in the case of a CD or DVD, whatever's on it is probably "asleep" perpetually until you actually install it onto a system. I do the same, Kat. I likened it to that episode of Next Gen when the crew created a world for Dr Moriarty to exist in perpetually. Now that was plugged into something so maybe not quite the same, but when I write, Yeah, Sam saved something but not the entire Grid. Otherwise I would have no stories.
