Since this was discussed in another topic, I've decided to create a QUESTIONS MEGATHREAD for anybody about to ask a question for debate in Legacy- just so that we don't have 50 threads, alot of which have similar questions, and everything is just a bit more organized. So next time you have a nice interesting query that could provide for some interesting discussion, try posting it here.

Can I run a question by everyone?
Why did Sam have so many Legacy era Tron toys in his room?
Did Flynn market the idea(s) to some toy company? Is the Tron arcade game in the movie more akin to Legacy and it somehow lead to the toys? or are we supposed to believe they were all home-made things Flynn made for Sam?

Definitely Quorra. Gem's insanely hot, but she's more the kind of woman you'd want to... er, date, rather than marry, IMO. Ahem. And while Yori's sexy and sweet, she's a little too demure for me.
Quorra, on the other hand, is intelligent, curious, charming, sexy, and capable. She's the kind of woman you can go through life with as an equal partner. Someone who'll be there by your side when things get rough, ready to roll up her sleeves and take on the world with a devil-may-care grin. Someone graced with a childlike sense of wonder, the kind of person who can appreciate nature and sees the beauty in the everyday world.

I don't know if there's an official, canon answer to that, but I can tell you my take on it.
In-universe, the Tron arcade game is supposed to be the best-selling video game of all time, IIRC. (I imagine it's pretty much identical to the real-world Tron coin-op since both are supposed to be loosely based on the events of the first movie.) Considering how popular it was, I imagine a line of licensed toys were released. I don't think it was ever specifically mentioned, but I would assume he's a lead software engineer or programmer, considering he knows his coding, Alan said he earned his place, and he's at an executive board meeting.

Why not? Computer- and videogame-related companies are probably a little different due to the setting, but we know other real-world brands exist there, like Ducati.
I think a more interesting question is, "do Apple and/or MS exist in the Tron universe?" Did Encom take the place of one (or both) of those companies, or does it exist as a third option? Or maybe Apple and MS both died out in the Troniverse, and the personal computer market there is divided between Encom and some other company, like Commodore, TI or (classic) Atari...abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

I assumed it was a third.
Want to know why, in the board meeting scene, though, Dillinjr's working on a Linux machine... and looking back over the screenshots, in some spots it says "Encom OS 12" and in others "Encom Linux." (It makes sense to me that the Encom OS might be Unix-based, but Linux falls under the GPL, right?)

What IS the point of digitization? What exactly are Lora et al trying to accomplish with digitization? Is it just to see if it can be done? Do they mean to send people some day? If not, what is the point of putting objects into the Grid?

There are no babbys in the Grid. Programs are written by Users, and those programs reflect those programmers in some way. So, unless you get like the E*Trade babby writing a stock market program or something, you won't ever see any babbys in the Tron world.

I'm not completely certain here, but I believe it was a sort of Virtual Reality system. Instead of having to build a model of an orange in the computer from scratch, just digitize it and you now have a virtual orange to mess around with.
It's why Walter Gibbs explains it as something-to-nothing and back again. As in the orange becomes nothing by being digitized into the computer, but it has use and purpose after the process.
The MCP just knew how to redirect to the computer world, I guess.

In the first film, it was intended as a means of teleportation. In fact, if you watch closely in the orange digitization scene, you can see that the orange is actually rematerialized on a different table than it was digitized from. Also, Alan's "Can it send me to Hawaii?" comment attests to this.

Yep, I think you nailed it. I don't think any of them had a clue the computer world existed, let alone that it was possible for a human to travel there. But the ability to digitize matter would have revolutionary economic effects all on it's own, even in a pre-networked world. The size and weight of goods is pretty much fixed, but data capacity even then was progressing by Moore's Law. Being able to store things as data and retrieve them when needed could be quite a valuable thing. Imagine a shipping container filled with hard disk drives, which upon reaching it's destination is hooked to a laser which then outputs a whole cargo ship's worth of goods. Ad that's if you can't network them. If you can... well talk about making conventional distribution obsolete! Storage solutions are very lucrative as well, even if you can't put people through it --which, of course, they found out you can.
It turned out that the Shiva had more applications and capabilities than they were initially testing in the movie, but even if it only did digital storage and retrieval it would have been a world-changig breakthrough.
