Okay so when Blu-Ray came out, they advertised on movie DVDs, ironically, about how Blu-Ray's HUGE storage capacity could allow you to watch the same movie as the noirmaql cut or with the director's cut, with or without the soundtrack, or even multiple soundtracks to choose from, production notes, maps and behind-the-scenes footage shown simultaneously as the movie played and could also shake your wang after you took a piss. Remember all that?
Um, what happened? Because all the blu-ray movies I've seen seem to look pretty damn close to what a DVD looks like on a 1080p HDTV, aqnd I've NEVER seen anything close to all those extras and doodads that BR seemed to promise. Have you ever seen a BR with those things on it?
As for TL, "I was expecting more" (okay shoot me for that), but, I mean, if this movie is so high tech and so groundbreaking, why do we get such scant BR extra features that barely rival those on any ordinary DVD? We didn't really see much about how the movie was made or hardly anything about the filming. I mean, WTF?

yeah i agree. I still have a DVD player.
Also they just seem to promote and push the whole
3D Blu Ray. When not everyone has
even upgraded to blu ray.
I bet 3D will be the same thing.
then they will soon create something new..
like maybe full virtual reality...

Are you using HDMI cables? I've heard that those are required for full HD picture quality, and that using traditional Red/Yellow/White cables will limit you to SD picture quality or something like that.

I have actually been very satisfied with Blu-ray's upgrade over DVD. I think the bigger problem is that it's not just your DVD/Blu-ray player you have to upgrade to enjoy the experience but rather all your equipment. I have a dedicated 500 sq ft home theater room with high quality equipment and my experience in terms of sound and visual quality is better than most movie theaters around here (it's only IMAX theaters that compete). You need good speakers, amplifier, a big TV/projector (very important is where you sit relative to your TV with correct viewing angle, I find THX recommendations of about 36 degree's is much better than the washed out lower ones local stores recommend so they can sell small TV's to the masses).
I think people just upgrade their DVD player and are watching this stuff on a small TV, sitting far away, and listening through TV speakers or some cheap HTIB setup. Your experience will be downgraded to the lowest quality component in your system.
I understand that most people do not want to spend $1,000's or $10,000's of dollars on their home entertainment system but your not going to get the picture and sound quality of Blu-ray unless you do.
As for special features, I don't think this is Blu-ray's specification problem, it's just studios not making the content. If you look at releases like the DVD extended edition of The Lord of the Rings or something like BladeRunner Blu-ray it's very good. However, many titles simply do not come with any special features. It's just a choice on the studio's part and has nothing to do with the format.order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pill

I upgraded to a 3D Blu-Ray player earlier this year. After I got everything set up I regretted not upgrading sooner and for buying into the nonsense about upconverted DVD playback being a near-equal.
The picture on a Blu-Ray is by far a superior product to DVD. The sound is also much better than what DVD offers.
With Blu-Ray, having a home theater is a must along with a competent HDTV. Anything less is a waste and doesn't properly show what Blu-Ray is capable of doing.
The picture on the TL Blu-ray is much clearer than on its DVD cousin. I'll use the arena disc battles as an example. They look razor sharp and the sound is much better and much more mesmerizing, right down to Rinzler's "purr" when he first appears.order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pill "Evolution is the greatest force in the material world. Exactly. And for what it is worth, not everyone can fully upgrade all their equipment at the same time which may be the case here.

Thanks to my folks we were able to upgrade to a 3D Blu-ray player and High Def TV with HDMI cables. I definitely see a big difference watching my movies; even my regular dvds through the Blu-ray seems a bit sharper
Now if only I can get a 3D HD TV to go with my player (I'm gladly accepting donations) LoL End of Line.

Yeah well I was talking about all the expanded features that seem to never be there at all. Hollywood made a big deal about those things being on the BR format and then they dropped the ball and forgot about putting them on most of their movies. These bloated Hollywood f*cks could put at least three times the features and extras that go on the average DVD release yet they don't. Where are the alternative soundtracks, the no-music soundtracks and the multiple-camera switchable views. What a crock. abortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion

That stuff is still all there, it's up to the movie makers to make and include it.
Multiple angles for example, was something promised as far back as DVD. But I have yet to see a single movie that got directed with multiple scenes.
Blame the producers, not Blu Ray...it really can do all that stuff. It just isn't given a chance all that often.

Here's something a lot of people don't understand about blu-ray...
The original film print, the copy you see in theaters, is the highest quality version you will see. DVD replicates the film, but in much lower-res quality. Blu-ray is six times greater in picture and sound quality and more closely replicates the picture you see in the cinema. Facts are facts, and blu-ray is significantly closer to the original product.
A full 1080p HD television, blu-ray player, and HDMI cables are needed to get the effect, otherwise there is no difference. The picture is clearer, sharper, and the sound is absolutely incredible. The only time there won't be a noticeable difference, is if it's a bad transfer or print.

There's a lot of movies with two cuts of the film on one disc. Hell Jet Li's Fearless has three! Not all films require multiple cuts though, or do multiple cuts even exist.

I agree with DevourTheLiving, and personally, I was pretty satisfied with the Tron: Legacy BluRay. There is PLENTY of extra stuff on it, even the TRON: THE NEXT DAY and all the cool stuff that they crammed into the Second Screen feature: TONS of stuff, especially behind-the-scenes stuff that shows you how they did certain scenes in real time as the finalized scene in the movie plays. If I remember correctly, you can also stop the movie and look specifically at just the behind-the-scenes stuff on the second screen feature.
Now, there are some BluRays that don't deliver all the extra stuff that they are constantly marketed as having - Tron: Legacy is NOT one of those. You just have to know where to look on the BluRay. Fighting for TRON, The USERS, Both Flynns, Independents, and the mighty ISOs since '82. |
