TRON: LEGACY Pinball - Video & Pictures

on Wednesday, May, 11, 2011 10:05 PM
The first ever TRON pinball machine has now been released, and a limited edition style of it with a few additional features will follow in June. These pinballs, which are officially licensed by Disney, are being produced by Stern Pinball, Inc. (“SPI”) -- who designs and manufactures arcade-quality pinball games, and are located just outside Chicago, Illinois.

Here is a teaser trailer for the pinball:

From Stern to Distributors -

“Dear Ladies & Gentlemen,

Stern Pinball will begin production of its next model pinball machine, TRON: Legacy, at the beginning of May.

We have licensed this title from Disney, the maker of the $400 million grossing holiday season movie TRON: Legacy. 60% of the gross was outside the United States. This movie is an extension of the 1982 movie TRON and the famous video game of that time. Another TRON movie is being planned. We have had requests from gamers, and pinball players in particular, to make a TRON pinball machine. There is a pent up demand for this game, and many of you have heard this from your customers.

With TRON, we continue the design philosophy that you have told us has been successful, that of Iron Man, Avatar and The Rolling Stones. Our games are playing shorter and have more randomness. The great designer Harry Williams used to say, “The ball is wild.” Great players are challenged and causal players have fun. Operators are making money.

Our TRON pinball puts the players in the middle of TRON movie and video game action battles. This is a fast moving game. TRON has 3 flippers, including an upper flipper to shot one of the two fabulous fast action ramps. We have not utilized a 3rd flipper in a while, and players will enjoy it. In the center of the playfield, near the top, there is a motorized 3 bank target assembly the player must hit and lower, to gain access to the illuminated, motorized spinning disc, representing TRON’s Identity Disc. The spinning disc shoots the ball randomly across and around the playfield. Ramp shots take the player to an exciting Light Cycle multiball. The player shoots at the miniature TRON video game to start exciting features and collect big points.

TRON: Legacy is a visually exquisite 3D movie, and our pinball has captured the same exquisite visual, including its 3D backglass. Music is from movie and perfect for pinball.

This game is brought to you by the design team that gave you Iron Man and Avatar.
We have been playing TRON, and we are really having fun.

Because this is truly a collectors and enthusiasts dream title, we will make a TRON Limited Edition version in late June."

- Jay

Damn I would love to play the Tron pinball. Do they have a 'machine locator' or anything?

I have no idea where in town might have an arcade anymore, and I grew up on videogames. Very sad.

There's a very high chance that the Pinball Hall of Fame here in Vegas will get it, as they always get the new Stern machines (just got Avatar a few weeks ago).

Can't wait to play it!

Dang you're lucky! The only place around here that even has pinball machines are restaurants, and the pinball machines are usually the old classics. Oh well, maybe I'll get the chance to play it someday. Buying a machine isn't really an option! :P

Where I am, it's also mostly only restaurants, but they only have newer pinball games.

With the exception of Chuck e' Cheese's. They generally have some pretty good older machines like Roller Coaster Tycoon.

Anyone ever play Baby Pacman?? It's an arcade/pinball hybrid.

I think this TRON table looks cool, but I really wish they would make more arcade/pinball hybrids...At least a Galaga-pinball hybrid...Everyone loves that game, it would be fun to see Galaga stuff with the table, and there would only be a few extra parts to make the machine...abortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion

The place is awesome, and it's the last true arcade left in Vegas in my opinion. It's the holy grail of pinball locations, and they have a good amount of classic arcade games too.

In case anyone is trying to find a place near them with arcades/pinball machines there are a few sites which do that:

http://aurcade.com

http://arcadefly.com

http://gamerspots.com

And Stern has this locator:

http://sternpinball.com/Play.aspx

Only problem is that all of these have to be updated by users out there so not every site available is on them or completely up-to-date.

Oi! You have to tell me if it ever comes to the Pinball Museum. I live in Vegas but haven't quite made it over to there yet. If Tron makes it there, I will definitely be making that visit.

I should be going there sometime this week.

For what it's worth they have an original Tron arcade machine there too. Shame they don't have Discs Of Tron like they had at Scandia when it existed.where to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online

They have something called Pac-Man Fridays. Give them a call to plan your time there. Tell them you heard about it on Tron-Sector, from a Houstonian. where to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online

I went to the Tron Legacy pinball unveiling and tourney at Pinballz in Austin, Tx. last night. They had two of them. Also two 1982 Tron arcades, one the Encom version. They had both movies playing, raffle prizes, and one of the pins on $0.50 play, the other on tournament play. I played it once, I sucked but the pinball itself was pretty neat. Nothing that special though... Kinda a typical Stern pin.
