Idea: "Welcome to 'Aperture Laboratories' program enrichment system"

Has anyone ever thought of doing a Tron mod for 'Portal'? I bet if we got the right people together we could pull it off. If anyone out there is good at moding Portal, let me know what you think.

I know the basics of mapping for Source engine. I might try something like this for Portal 2 when the SDK for it comes out.

Right now, though, I'm working on a disc wars map for Half Life 2 Deathmatch. It's on hold right now, but I might take a shot at Portal 2 mapping when I finish it assuming the SDK for it is out by the time I finish my DM map.

Considering Portal 2 is the first Valve game to use pre-rendered cutscenes (particularly the ending), I wonder if the SDK will allow us to include pre-rendered cutscene intros/outros. That'd be pretty cool.

Omg yes.
Even worse, the MCP is a giant shaft, and the GLaDOS portal is a small orb with a hole in the front of it, well, multiple orbs with holes. Pun and innuendo intended.

I'm writing my own MCP program, KikiAI.
Minus the giant .. " la zor " part though. I'm not that good at quantum and photon teleportation, YET.
Have a few friends and relatives I can pick brains though about it, including an uncle with part of the space station's toilet being his design.
Astronauts take a xxxx in space partly because of my uncle.

I really like the idea. I used to know how to do basic mapping for Portal 1, but not anymore. If you need voice acting I could possibly provide that. I think you guys are overthinking some things though like all the backstory. Honestly, I didn't think that people would still be interested in this idea at this point in time, So I never thought through the details that much.
Well, anyway, I always pictured the protagonist as a guy. If it's not possible to code in a male character, though, we can certainly go with a female. Either way, let's call him 'Zeta'.
The villian should be a User, I think, just because an instant routing engine is something only a user can make. Let's say that his name is Freddrick.
Hmmm... Boss battle. I'm kinda stumped on that one. Maybe something to do with breaking the Users connection and contacting the authorities.
I've just had a thought. Programs aren't really known for taking the initiative on things, so maybe another program can come in at some point and get the 'attempt escape' ball rolling. Kinda' like Wheatly, only more competant.
As for portal walls, I'm thinking either something to do with red and blue circuits lines, or just straight black walls for non-portal and grey for portalable.

I better start working on puzzle ideas if we're actually going to try this.

Nice! I like it. The whole Rinzler look might actually simplify things. I llike the grid bug idea, too. Who was it who said that they could mod Portal? They were one of the first to comment, I remember.

Anyone with Portal 2 (who would be able to play this map, at least) has Steam, which is why I think we should meet on there. To the best of my knowledge, the PS3 version does not support custom maps. If it does, please correct me.

Regarding AIM, I really don't want to use it more than I have to.
