Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question..
But when kevin Flynn wears the white robe his disc is white.
When he goes after Sam in Tron City
he is wearing a black robe and his disc is now Black?
Does his disc just match the color or his robe?
Or was it part of a master plan
to switch the disc later with Quorras?
he would not have been able to switch the discs
if his were still White..
and yes I am just curious as to how he changed the colors.

LOL I wondered that too. If one was his ID disk and the other the Key to the portal. But maybe its a chameleon disk, taking on the colour of his clothing.

yes I was thinking the same!
at first I thought maybe it was a fake disc..
and he hid the white one.
But it actually was the master key.
And yes it seems to match his robes and mood.
For instance white robe is meditation Zen peace thing.
Black rob means.. touch the ground at End of Line
club and show them some REAL user power!

Kevin went in during the 80's, so the disc is obviously Hypercolor.

Clothing and vehicles can be rezed up, since it's all digital forms;

That makes sense.
And like you said Kevin Flynn with a simple touch was able to change it.
Just like when he touched the ground at End of Line club.
If he can make the lights shut off in the whole club.
Then he can easily change the color of this Disc.

It was a dye used in a line of early-90s clothing that changed color with body-heat.
Speaking of discs: I watched Legacy again over the weekend, I noted that the female wait staff in Castor's club wore open-backed dresses without discs.
