All of my local record stores have verbally complained over the phone about RSD being a relative clusterf0ck in the past. None will confirm that units will be available as it is 100% up to the distributor. No pre-order, no reservations, and definite lines at 5AM.
Is there something i'm missing? The lot of you seem to be having much better success at claiming your own.

Yes, thats what i was told as well. almost verbatim.

even price is unknown. not like it matters that much, im sure if you are early enough to get a copy you will give either arm for it, as dozens behind you watch in envy.

If I "end up" with two sets, I don't think I'll have any problems selling of the extra one...

I'm spending the rest of my week cooking dinner for the GF convincing her to go alone to two other stores for me.

You've just justified the the need for me to buy all three, user.
Pleasantly surprised, for now. Although i'm pretty sure most retailers will be hesitant to sell all three to a single customer, unless of course, you got an in, or theres no crowd
To my understanding, my local retailers are limited to 50 copies max. Has anyone else heard similar? Then of course this is all controlled by WB dist. anyway. I had one retailer say they would be lucky to see a dozen or two
Thoughts? think its possible to obtain all three colors single handedly?

The shop I ordered from I asked for one of each color and he didn't seem to have a problem...

Well, I just called another local store.
Actually, "holding them" is against the rules.
He did order a bunch of each color, but he won't know until the day before or when the order arrives as far as what he got...

That first person must really like you, or isnt very well informed. No offense haha.
I was laughed at over the phone asking to "reserve" a copy, but wth its worth asking anyway. Maybe you'll luck out and get a cute chick to hold one for you, then give you her number, and actually pay for dinner,
Then, if youre really lucky. She'll take you home...
and give you the two missing colors to complete your set. at which point you say "thank you" and be on your merry.

Maybe be nice and tell them you're a collector, and you're trying to beat the resellers.
eBayers "lurk" here and, unfortunately, may beat us collectors to the stores in order to resell them for outrageous prices.

I won't be surprised if many of those assholes are here already. I have no doubts at all. always looking for ways to screw people over in the long run. This should have a limited run only available to record store retailers whom purchase records in general & not sold to the public or if sold to the public have enough of a run rather than a limited one where it will probably sell out within minutes & having to resort to Feebay scalpers. You don't know how few stores in the UK that are supposed to be participating in this have been able to tell me if there's any chance of them even getting any, let alone me driving for 100 miles to queue up on the off-chance. At least in the US you've got some CHOICE!

...and apparently there's NO CHANCE of these reaching the UK even at the stores participating in Record Store Day. They're strictly US only.

Well, if you didn't know what RSD was until you read this thread and then thought you were going to get a copy, only to find it is a USA event, then you shouldn't be surprised.
If you knew about RSD and really thought you were going to get one in the UK, then found out its USA only. Then I'm surprised.
no offense either way, but many of us will be lucky to snag ONE, much less the ideal "full set"
but hey, i encourage dreams, without them we'd sit at home all day on our computers and bitch and moan about things on forums...

Yes - rules are "no holding" and my problem is I don't get off from work until 6pm... then it's another hour in traffic to these small record shops.
I have a feeling the eBay'ers will be in line first thing in the morning. The shops I know that ordered them don't open until noon (while I'm at work).

Man, I am SO not a morning person. I'm not sure if I'm going to take a chance driving somewhere for this. I'd fly off if I got there and there was already a huge line, or they were already sold out, or they hadn't gotten any in! Never mess with my nerves first thing in the a..m. Hopefully this event will be kind to us all.
