Disney Store Exclusive Recognizer Set

on Tuesday, January, 25, 2011 8:37 PM
Hey guys,
I know this has been discussed before but I couldn't find the old thread. I got this today through a trade with someone in the UK. It's such a shame this hasn't made it here (nor does it seem likely it will according to the Disney Store US) as it's one of the best Tron toys I've gotten. I wish I could get the big Light Cycle that's being discussed in another thread too.

For one thing, it is IMMENSE. It really puts the Spinmaster one to shame (and I am quite pleased with the Spinmaster line overall, but I didn't get the Reco case as I though it looked ugly.) The shape seems accurate and it feels really nice, thick, and solid. One slight oddity, it lights up and makes sounds (very cool) but it only does so on the screw-hole laden side. The other side is just painted on. This is because on this side there are a ton of panels that open up to hold the many plastic vehicles it comes with. The handle is hidden in the top of the Reco. Another bonus!

The vehicles are pretty nice. Not quite as nice as the diecast Spinmaster vehicles, but cool. Also a fun little bonus, as you know doubt have heard - Light Tanks! I took some close-ups of those as they are really nicely detailed.

I traded this for the Flynn and Rinzler discs and man it was worth it! (Bigger pics are here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/31045631@N00/sets/72157625782171127/

That does look cool, I think I saw it when I was ordering Sam deluxe discs and the price was quite high so I skipped it, but it's not on Disney's UK web store anymore, I guess they sold out, probably a good thing because if I had the money I'd go nuts on collecting Tron stuff so I'm just sticking to a few 'essentials'.
My biggest toy collection is ReBoot, I have a stupid amount of stuff including 5 crew jackets, two crew hockey shirts, over 60 different carded figures (and duplicates of most of them loose) of which there are 7 complete sets, rare merchansise, games etc. etc.where to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online

I think it is.

It's called "Recogniser (note British spelling) Carry Case With Vehicles."

Manufacturer is Disney Store UK, with an address in London. So I'm pretty sure this (and the big 12'' Pull back and go Light Cycle that's on the back) were made exclusively for the UK market.order abortion pill http://unclejohnsprojects.com/template/default.aspx?morning-after-pill-price where to buy abortion pill

Holy crap it lights up. Does your buddy need extra KF and Rinzler discs? I have an extra of each I would trade for this piece, without question.

Did you ever find out a price for this set in the UK?

I don't think he needs another set, sorry. The set runs about £25 and shipping probably wouldn't be cheap. You could be talking $70-$80 with exchange rates to get it over here. That's why the trade was good because we were trading equivalent products (2 deluxe discs ran me about $26 to buy and $24 to ship) without having to worry about the exchange rate which is NOT favorable to those of us in the US.

So the best bet really is to try to see if someone in the UK would do it for you. Too bad there doesn't seem to be more UK'ers on this board.

Oh man this is awesome! It totally kicks the a** of the paper model reco I made the other day. And it looks huge! And I'm guessing that here in New Zealand we have it even worse than my American brother programs, we have seen next to nothing in stores, I'm yet to see a single toy at retail let alone wicked stuff like this.

How big are the cycles compared to the diecasts?

Usually, the person that sets it up with their UK contact receives the package, then distributes through the USA.

"A buddy of mine in the UK sent me one, it should be arriving this week."

I'm happy for you, although your post doesn't help any of us.

"Is it a UK exclusive?"

Please read the thread. Yes, it is.

My post is just a statement, like the majority of posts on this forum.

Um, excuse me, how do we know for sure that it's a UK exclusive? AFAIK no one from Disney Store or Disney has made any such statement and there's still a possibility that we will receive this product in the US

Disney Store US told me in no uncertain terms via e-mail they do not plan to carry this item. It is listed as a Disney Store Exclusive. The address on the package is located in London as Disney Store UK AND the British spelling "Recogniser" (versus Recognizer) is used on the packaging.

I don't know what other proof someone needs!

Well, why don't you get someone from Disney to post an official response on this thread? That should sort it out once and for all! :-P

Well I'm still skeptical - considering customer service reps on the phone typically don't know what they're talking about half the time. Remember they didn't even know about the difference between the site pictures and the series 2 figures they were shipping out.

Evidence SUGGESTS that it won't be available in the US, but things change all the times. They could even, wait for it...CHANGE THE PACKAGING! Changing an S to a Z isn't tough you know.

While I do know for a fact that there are Disney Store UK Exclusive items, and Disney Store France and Disneyland Japan, etc...they are usually labeled "Disney EUROPE" Exclusive or something like that. I got a set of the Pooh, Piglet and Eeyore beanies dressed as the 3 Musketeers some time back and it clearly said "Disney Store Europe" Exclusive.

So I'm still skeptical. You're probably right and it won't appear here, but I wouldn't stop giving up hope.

The window to cash in on the merchandising and retailer exclusives has come and gone. With Legacy ending it's theatrical run and starting to leave theaters the only opportunity would be a tie-in with the DVD/Blu-ray release in April and I doubt Disney Store U.S. is going to import these for it. I think these are going to be pretty limited and HIGHLY collectible on the secondary market if you are lucky enough to find a seller.
