Hey everyone. I am new to being a Tron fan and I've seen Tron Legacy (Its my favorite movie right now). I really want to see the original 1982 Tron film and I had heard that Disney got rid of ALL copies of Tron and is going to rerelease them soon. I was wondering if anyone knew when and how much the rerelease will be? Thank you!

i believe there is an 20th anniversary edition released in 2002. Not sure if you can find it in the dvd store now...

Yeah I can't wait until they release this film once again as well!
I had an old machine that played it on those huge tapes back in 1982..
but now I haven't seen it in a long time..
since I don't have the DVD version..

Wait, did Disney seriously do that with all the copies? I thought that was just an urban legend (it would be another explanation for why Netflix apparently said it wasn't available, though. I just assumed it was because everybody wanted it after T:L came out).

It's an urban myth that Disney recalls DVDs or Videos - they don't. What they do is stop pressing the video after a certain date and then let the rest sell out.
But it ain't like they're gonna be that collectible anyway. The DVD market is going to take a dump shortly, just like the VHS and BETA markets did before them. At least DVDs will last longer. VHS starts dying after about 20 years.
The media is meaningless.

I was quite fortunate, i went into my local DVD library/store and they were playing TRON on the six or so TV sets up on the walls! It was my first exposure to it and, with the knowledge that they had a copy, I made a beeline for the Sci-Fi shelf on my next visit. I've since got it out twice so Mrs RecoPilot and myself could see it before Legacy.....NZ$4 for a week's hire  Holding off buying a copy until the Blu-ray, and even then there seem to be nil DVDs available here.

I will go to Best Buy or Target or Wal-Mart or any other DVD store and see if they have it. I am really eager to see it

I don't have a Blu-Ray player or a PS3  To be honest, I would prefer getting both Tron and Tron Legacy but I know that won't be until December and I don't want to wait THAT long just to see the first Tron
