You can't compare Tron: Legacy to The Golden Compass. Tron: Legacy has Legs. MANY other movies, even new releases, don't. That includes The Golden Compass.

Still foolish...For the simple fact that the two movies are so unalike that it wouldn't make for a fair comparison even in box office arena. Expecially when you consider how negatively controversial Compass was and how positively anticipated TRON legacy was. You'd be better off comparing Chariots of Fire's box office to TRon Legacy's

TGC did not get critical comments from European ciritc for iths religios aspects. This criticism only came from american critics ( also see the banned Super Bowl commercial where the AVGN plays a cameo)

And for the foreign box office - TGC wasn't known here as well but it totally got 300 mn. outside of the US. So I hoped TRON can at least match those counts.

Sanctum opens today in IMAX 3D all over, except anywhere in BC. TRON Legacy is still selling well enough that Sanctum is only being shown in REAL3D.

Pwned.

Some guy named James Cameron is the executive producer...pssh who's he? Sanctum looks dumb, it'll probably fizzle out.

Not good, TRON dropped below top 15 an friday estimate counts. So it might end in week 8 in the US.

I doubt it. If "Megamind" is still showing at the dollar and discount theaters, then TL isn't dropping out of the US market after only 8 weeks. Family-friendly fare tends to enjoy very long runs in US theaters. "Night at the Museum" was in movie houses for almost 6 months. I think TL will be in movie houses until at least the end of March. They may not even pull it until the week of the DVD-BluRay release.order abortion pill http://unclejohnsprojects.com/template/default.aspx?morning-after-pill-price where to buy abortion pill

I hope you are right but I'm not sure if Legacy will have legs in the next weeks.
On this friday, it dropped behind Fockers, Tangled and Yogi Bear again. o_O

Beside, it is interesting to see how good True Grit runs and how long it keeps in Top10.
This should have been TRONs run if you ask me!

I wonder how big the Oscar's bump could have been if TRON was nominated 3 times (Score, VFX, Sound Editing) instead of only once (Sound Editing).order abortion pill http://unclejohnsprojects.com/template/default.aspx?morning-after-pill-price where to buy abortion pill

I think that Legacy came out at the wrong time. After Avatar 3d has been done to death usually very crappily so it's lost its "wow" factor. And so many sequels are coming out at the moment that people are tired of them. Which is sad, because people want things that aren't gimmicky and original but Legacy actually had great 3d and a pretty good story.

But it has done good for all it's had to deal with like coming out after 28 years after "Tron", people having no clue what "Tron" was, etc. It's actually exceeded the attendance of the last "Tron" and made the most money for anything released in December.

It had a slight rebound with weekend estimates and was number 15 above Little Fockers. As for Yogi and Tangled staying on top of it, that's not too surprising as they are family films and they don't have much competition at the cinema right now. In fact, there are exactly zero new family films out, whereas Tron has a lot of movies out that are competition with the crowd that's expected to see it.

Also, worldwide so far:

Maybe Tron just opened during the wrong season. It could have worked better if Disney released it as a late summer blockbuster. Which was easy this year because Inception started in July and then there was no big movie in August and September beside The Expandables, which had a completely different audience than TRON has.

You never know in advance...

Let's hope Disney improves storytelling (the story was good, the telling was bad) and release policy - then TRON 3 should run even better and be more profitable.abortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion

Is Tron still playing at the first theaters in your areas. I noticed its screen count is low so I wonder if this is transition week where it has left some first tun theaters but not moved onto the second run theaters yet.

I do believe the critics cost TL $50 million and the bad weather didn't help in a lot of areas.order abortion pill http://unclejohnsprojects.com/template/default.aspx?morning-after-pill-price where to buy abortion pill

No, no, that's a different movie, that's more like Sylvester Stallone meets Gumby...

At the theater I usually go to: yes, and only in 3D (although I could've sworn I checked last week and it was only the regular and they had dropped the 3D. Maybe they're switching back and forth). At another we sometimes go to--yes, and only in 3D (no idea if the regular one was ever there or not).

My town only has one second wave theater and it just moved there this weekend.

Good news though, estimates put Legacy at 168.7 domestically. 1.3 million more and we balanced the budget domestically! We'll get there.

Any guesses on final WW totals? I'll wager 380 million.abortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion

390 million.

TRON did not open in France yet and this country is as strong as Germany in box office sales.
Count foreign box office + 12 for Germany and +12 for France.

Wait, its in 2nd run theatres already? What the f***?
Can't they wait for the Super Bowl box office bump?

I actually think Christmas was a smart move on their part. If you open during the summer, if something doesn't take right away, it's gone in three weeks. There's a good chance it would have gotten lost in the shuffle, even if you open in, say, late July. There's more turnover of screens, with big releases almost every week.

Opening as they did, it ensured at least three weeks of good business instead of crossing fingers for a $70m opening weekend and hoping for word of mouth. Look at the original Tron: opened smack-dab in the middle of July, and made the 1982 equivalent of Prince of Persia numbers. I know it's not a direct comparison, but something to think about.

And this summer? Inception would have crushed Tron, especially with the fantastic WOM. We'd probably be talking about whether a $120m domestic gross and DVD sales are enough to greenlight a sequel.

With The Hobbit and Avatar on the way for the next couple Christmases, perhaps Disney would go back to summer for a Tron 3. But it would all depend on that opening weekend if they did.

I agree with KidFlash. If they bring TL out during the summer, it gets lost in the noise from movies like Transformers 3, and other big-budget spectaclulars. For Christmas 2010 there were no big-budget SFX eye-candy movies, other than TL. In this way TL was the kingpin of the SFX extravaganzas for its release window, which no doubt helped it to earn and keep a very appreciable market share through the holidays, and much of January as well.
