Man I was really looking forward to this game so it would give me an excuse to finally take out of the box the WII I got 2 years ago for christmas. Why do they seem to always make the WII games have unaturally large headed anime looking characters with weirdly proportioned unisex bodies? Even the disc game looks like Sonic running up the walls. Tron is serious business damnit.

Bump the age recommendation to Mature, add in realistic looking characters, people screaming when they graphically get derezzed and chicks that don't look like 13 year olds and I would buy the game in a heartbeat.

In this era of the Grid Combat was not to the death, so that's not an issue with the game, it's a canonical part of the story.

My experience with the Nintendo 64 taught me to never buy a Nintendo console again. Lesson learned there. Maybe 1 out of every 50 games that came out for it was for adults, or didn't have cartoony bubbles popping up next to cartoony bubbly characters.

Granted, I've enjoyed some good playtime on a friend's Wii, with non-serious games and such... but I wouldn't want one for myself.

I'm getting out of here right now, and you guys are invited. -----^

Some guy came into the place I worked at and offered me a xbox 360 for the wii because the games were more geared toward his nephews. I was really thinking of doing the trade but the guy went and capped himself after he took out a couple people.where to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online

Games like Red Steel 2, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, Dead Space Extraction, Mad World, The Conduit, Cursed Mountain, Metroid Prime 3, Metroid: Other M do *not* have super cartoony characters with big heads, big eyes, etc etc. So it's silly to think "all" Wii games have that, when they don't.

Battle Grids is meant to appeal to kids, and I don't see anything wrong with that as long as the gameplay is fun. Super Mario Galaxy and SMG II have cutesy cartoon characters and are some of the highest rated games of *any* console. Alot of "cartoony", stylized games actually have excellent gameplay... such as Kirby's Epic Yarn, while I'm not a Kirby Fan, alot of avid gamers from 18 - 33 I know of that have played it really enjoy the game alot. For the "mature" "serious" looking Tron game theres the PC/Xbox360/PS3's Tron: Evolution.

Battle Grids is in a lighter in tone, and stylized to be cartoony. But I really don't see what's the big deal with that. From what I've see of all it's game modes, it seems like a pretty fun game overall. The character customization looks pretty good too.

I'm sorry, but I have to rage a bit about this.

This is NOT how you determine the quality of a game. It's just not. The quality of a game should be determined by more than the amount of blood and gore and how much it's geared towards adults. Super Mario Galaxy is clearly geared towards kids, but as an adult who plays a lot of games geared towards adults, I thoroughly enjoyed said game because of the amazing amount of work put into the overall design.

I play games that are fun. Not games that are geared towards my age. Sure, I get a good dose of Bad Company 2 and Dead Space every now and then, but I also get a good number of hours built up in Mario and Punch-Out.

And am I ashamed of having played games geared towards kids? No, not at all.

Why?

Because I play games to have fun.

Wow! There is so much wrong with this game. Where do I start??

First, games on the Wii console can be great. First party titles usually. Second, the Wii is not intended as a core gamer console, as that demographic is biased towards PS3 and xbox.

Now, as a gamer, it looks like there could be some cool features here:
Avatar customization, multiplayer, several game modes, favorite character appearances, multiple vehicle accessibility...etc.

From a developer standpoint that has a few Wii titles under my belt there are some issues with UI design, non interactive (NI) sequences and style. Sure they have some creative license on the art style but c'mon!!! The cycles are iconic and appear to be very off-brand. The animations are laughable! Looks like some student project and blending from one cycle to another are horrendous! And the glow effects are distastefully done (like lens flares to FPS games). There is a lot that can be done on the Wii platform and it doesn't have to rely on copius amounts of polygons or the latest dx11 shader tech. That being said, they managed to do some fairly slick visual tricks here and I know how taxing that can be in this little console.. Maybe its bias because i love Tron but I'd pull my name from the credits on this one. Seems as though we have yet another licensed product that is being rushed to market and with little care spent on quality and time. This looks a bit like amature hour and less like a competent studio did this.abortion pills online abortion questions cytotec abortion

I actually like the art style/graphics of Battle Grids. I own both a 360 and Wii and I'm stuck on which one to buy now. While one is more mature the gameplay looks that of Prince of Persia and not exciting. The Wii version is more cartoony but brings more color and personalities to the characters, plus customization.

ooh, I feel sorry for you. I'd hate to be stuck having to choose between them.
I'm really looking forward to the more realistic graphics, the story, and the disk combat in Evolution, but I'm also looking forward to the tournament style gameplay in Battle Grids. I've always thought a tournament style game would be a perfect fit for a Tron game, and I love that you can create your own character.

I'm not in love with the cartoony style, but it is fun looking, and hopefully will help capture the feeling of a more 'innocent' time before Clu took over.

IMO Tron Evolution > PoP.

And this game is one of the most exciting games I've ever played.

Battle Grids doesn't look very good though, it's not even made by the same people.

Evolution was developed by Propaganda Games (part of Disney Interactive) in co-operation with the film crew. Battle Grids was developed by n-Space, the company responsible for such gaming gems as Duke Nukem: Land of the Babes and Rugrats: Search for Reptar -_-

They've also done DS games for SW Battlefront, Golden Eye, and Call of Duty, so I don't think you can really use a couple dubious properties as metric of quality.
Even if you do, then you have to look at Propaganda's history, which consists of "Turok", which was largely panned, and "Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada of the Damned", which was canceled.

I think both games look really fun in their own ways, and I can't wait until tuesday

Actually Turok recieved ok reviews, the average is 70%, generally considered as good, not great. And the PotC game was actually looking really promising, it's not their fault Disney pulled the plug on it. I see what you're saying though... I guess the main thing I don't like about Battle Grids is the cartoony graphics, but I don't hold much hope for the gameplay.

I haven't played the game nor do I have any intentions on doing so. My opinion is based on the crap they sneezed out for a preview. Like I said, I tip my hat to them for the attempt but It looks like it's rushed and an afterthought (like most licensed games) and I know this having worked on several rushed and ill-planned titles. I play quite a bit on each major console and can say that this is one I won't pick up do to quality reasons.

At least they haven't tacked on Unleashed to the title like so many have.abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

Wow. My copy arrived last Saturday. Role reversal for us Brits to get something before the US.

I'm 35, like gaming but suck at it so Wii games tend to be easier and cheaper which suits me fine. I did a mini-review of the game in the Games thread - to briefly summarise: It looks like TRON which will give it more life than it may otherwise have. Of the games I've played the lightcycles are fast, good fun. I customised my avatar with a helmet toavoid the manga style head. Perfectly happy with it.

That actually sounds quite promising. I may end up getting it just for the avatars xD

Well then I'm really confused by your critique because there really haven't been many previews released and the ones that I've seen have shown the variety of games in short clips as they flash through the advertisment. The only thing they've shown much of is the lightcycle and grid runner games (both shown at E3 back in July, I believe, and we've seen how far the animation in Evolution has come since then). I can understand if you don't like the art style of the game, but I think that is a very subjective issue and does not mean it's 'crap'. It's sounds more like it's just not your style.

Also, what is it you've seen in the animations that you don't like?
