That is supposed to be Taboo on the cycle.

Here is another video.

Personally I find it kinda disgusting their co-opting TRON Legacy in their concerts. It's not like they are on the soundtrack or even promoted by Disney. They can be fans but I think they should have left such obvious effects out of their concert. TRON deserves better than to be co-opted by a politically correct, over-hyped, mass-marketed set of individuals who are not even affiliated with the film or its makers. I hope Disney sues.

Yes Shame on them and yes to screw the artist for taking something that isn't theirs. Maybe when you are talented to create something others want to steal without paying for then you will realize.

And btw the way if it was all about support for something they like then they didn't have to steal an iconical piece from an upcoming movie. All they had to do was tell their fans to go out and see the movie, and spend money on Tron merchandise. So don't give me all this crap about how its "supporting something they love." It's theft plain and simple and it shows just what crap The Black Eyed Peas are that they cannot think of something cool to have in their show without stealing it from another source. At the very least they could have paid Disney royalties for using the lightcycle and Tron style to make money off of at their concerts. I'm sure they are getting paid quite nicely being the rockstars they are.

Oh comeon, if you're going to start a ruckus like this, be fair.

Damn a group that sucks for associating themselves with something that rocks.

What an entirely bizarre reaction this is getting. When Kylie Minogue had some Cyberman-esque outfits in her tour Doctor Who fans were talking about what fun it was. Here, I'm seeing a lot of moaning. I just don't get it. Tron is beloved by a lot of people. BEP could be included. It does Tron more good to be in a BEP concert than it does BEP for Tron to be in their concert right now. It's free advertising. It's fun.

Well, this is the reaction you get when a sucky band you cannot stand starts co-opting images from things you like. I personally like Kylie and Doctor Who, but if she took the images without license then she is wrong too. Like this, it' wrong.....Firstly, BEP is using the image of Tron for their own benefit. Not Disney's. This is made apparent by having one of their bandmates riding on the lightcycle dressed like a program from the grid.
Secondly, it is a paid event, a paid event mind you for BEP. Not Disney. So this crap about "free advertising", that is cow bollocks as nothing is free and the band are profiting off not only the audience but the image from an upcoming movie. Thirdly, I don't know if Kylie had any connection with those Doctor Who producers other than her one time role in a showing of the series, but what she does doesn't necessarily justify what other people do or their intentions. Like I said earlier, if the band were such fans of the franchise and wanted to do some "free" publicity for Tron Legacy they could use their cache to promote the movie and merchandise without taking something from Disney or their properties.

Aren't you rather assuming that they did it without permission though? Anyway, whether they are a sucky band or not (I'm not really a fan to be honest, myself though I think they are mostly harmless) is entirely subjective. There are MANY people who love them. So yes, free publicity is not a bad thing. If anything, it's further evidence that Tron has entered the Zeitgeist and that's only good for Tron (and Tron fans who want Legacy to do well.)

BTW - Kylie had no connection to the Who team when they used the cyber look. It was only after that she was cast in the Christmas special. We usually refer to these sort of things as "homage" rather than rip-offs. I agree that if BEP had used the Light Cycle in posters to promote the even or called their concert "Black Eyed Peas Do Tron" or something then I could see the merits in your argument. But they didn't. It was just an event in a big show.abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

I kinda agree with IsoLine on this one. I find this to be appropriation to exploit something someone else created.

It's like if Kanye West come out on stage during a concert dressed as a super hero with blue tights, a red "S" or "K" on his chest, and a red cape, waving around a lit-up fake crystal and there's a icey fortress of solitude mock up on the stage... It just out of place and arguablely an improper use of someone elses creative properties in an unrelated, unlicenced commercial manner, which a live concert is a commercial performance, that is filmed and kept after the concert ends. I'm surprised Disney hasn't sued.... or sent a cease and desist like they did to the makers of the Kyocera "Neo" asking them to pull their commercial with the knock-off Light cycles.

If Daft Punk didn't publicly show their apparent love for Tron over the years, would they be doing the soundtrack? I haven't seen much of Daft Punk to know if they stole anything from Tron except the sleek lighting, but it's obvious Tron influenced them ... or they maybe even exploited Tron. Hopefully Black Eyed Peas paid something to Disney for that cycle likeness, though.

Daft Punk's light up suits and some of the light based stage affects are *inspired* by Tron, yes, but they aren't 100% copying the suits from Tron, and there light and CG graphics they use while Tron-ish are not immediately copying lightcycles, Recognizers or something. There stuff is more a homage to it than a blatant copy-cat. Any person with good critical thinking skills can see that.

I think if they did it with permission then it would have been publicized. After all Tron Legacy is set to be Disney's biggest film promotion of the year. I haven't heard anything about BEP being part of that, have you? I seriously doubt Disney would be silent if they were having BEP as part of their promotions for Tron Legacy, afterall they weren't silent about Journey having the small part it is having in it. "Homage" usually is a more subtle use of anothers image in your own work. The Honda civic commercial can be seen as a "Homage" because though they created a "tronesque" world that simulated some scenes and scenery from Tron it wasn't overly using iconic devices like light cycles or any recognizable actors or props from the movie. BEP used an exact device from the movie so to me that is more than an homage, that is theft. And once again, this is not "free" publicity for TRON, it is paid publicity for BEP. Why? Because BEP got to shoplift a Tron image for free to use for their own use and benefit in their concerts. Concerts that many people paid alot of money to see. I seriously doubt Disney is getting royalties for the use of the lightcycle image from BEP, the producers of the concert and the constructors of the lightcycle for the concert. Like I said earlier if they wanted to do promotion for TRON gratis free they could do that on their own time and whether TRON becomes a iconic staple of culture is immaterial, theft is theft. With your logic Jonwes, anyone that wanted to steal an image from someone else without paying royalties should be able to do it under some "its an homage" clause. where to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online

Excellent example, Kanye also had images of the Jetson's in one of his videos. Now maybe because they were portraits on the walls in his home you can refute that it is not stealing an image, that they were mere props, but still. In this day and age when everyones work usually has copyright and trademarks and so on it is just blatantly strange and inappropriate to see some of this stuff. That said, I understant that the Black Eyed Peas used the lightcycle prop at all their recent concerts so its definately a part of their shows and not a one off homage type deal.order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pill

Personally, whenever I see Black Eyed Peas I think I'm watching an Old Navy commercial. Can't stand 'em. But if doing this gets more people to check out Tron Legacy when it hits theaters, good on 'em.

The Clu abides, man...
