"Betrayer" in Tron Legacy?

on Tuesday, November, 09, 2010 8:57 PM

Dear Guys:

possible spoilers.

just a theory

maybe

just a thought.

For those of you who've read part 1 of Tron: Betrayal graphic novel, and have read bits of the children's novelization, do any get worried that it might be Alan Bradley/Tron who end's up betraying Flynn and traps him in the digital universe. This is after it's revealed that Flynn never sent his son the message that Alan delivers to him, and secondly, in the graphic novel, it's revealed that Lori leaves Alan for Washington in 1985 or so, but still will work on the relationship. Is it possible that Mr. Bradley has gone bad and bitter over the years when it's revealed that that Flynn has had so much success.

I also notice that both the children's novelization and the storybook "stop" about 3/4 into the movie before the big climactic battles and perhaps the reveal on how the enemies are dealt with. This was done on the Dick Tracey novelization years ago, when they wanted to save the big reveal that the mystery villain was Madonna's character.

I know about three months ago, I shared these concerns, but does anybody else share them?

I don't know about that, Man. While I do think Alan may be pissed about all the "necessary evils" he's had to endure while helping to run ENCOM in Kevin Flynn's absence, as well as the embarrasments from Sam Flynn, and in pulling up Flylnn's slack (as is implied in TRON: THE BETRAYAL Pt1), I don't think Alan would stab Flynn in the back.

If anything, I think the betrayer is simply CLU 2.0. In the new trailer it even hints at it when Flynn says, "My creation turned against me", and it's even hinted in The Betrayal Pt1 when we see Clu 2 consistently disagreeing with Flynn to the point where you start thinking, "Hmmm. . .this Clu 2 guy is up to something".

Then again, we'll have to see, because there is something else that is sticking out like a sore thumb: Rinzler. There's a theory about who Rinzler actually is and you can get a possible hint if you look at 4 lights on Rinzler's chest and then compare them to some other program from the first movie. However, even if that theory holds up, then another pivotal question is this:
A) If Rinzler is this certain program he's been rumored to be, then did Alan or CLU2 lead to that becoming that way???

I think the answer to that question will reiterate who stands on what sides. We'll find out in a little over a month.

Greetings JThree,

Indeed, this was a most interesting "theory" that was discussed in the TRON: Legacy movie forum a while ago... Half a year ago I think (HERE) after someone discovered the subtitle for the graphic novel... There were very very few of us who kind of "embraced" the possibility of Alan Bradley having become the "betrayer" and although I now think that it certainly refers to CLU 2.0 I can't discard the possibility a 100% (even less knowing that Mr. Lisberger sees 'Legacy' as the third "phase" in Rousseau's philosophy were the bad are now the good and the good ones, the bad ones... HERE).

The thing is that I too came to the conclusion that the message Alan received wasn't sent by Kevin... maybe even from Quorra, but not Kevin Flynn himself... Maybe Alan was lying all along... who knows?

You need to check out the COMPLETELY UNOFFICIAL TRON TIMELINE!

SPOILER... Mouse Over To Read:
Clu sent it. Likely he figured out how to get in touch with Alan after all, he reapporiated Tron. :P

I refuse to think Alan's capable of that. Doesn't compute for me.

For those who've had advance screening of the film, has it been revealed yet who the "betrayer" is? If it's Alan I'm not going.

I'm 99% sure that the "betrayer" is *not* Alan Bradley.

Yeah, I know who paged Alan. It was'nt Flynn. It was'nt anyone.

It was Poltergeist that got digitized all those years ago. It wanted the girl but for some reason, it called the wrong person .
