What Tron Legacy will mean to me

on Saturday, November, 06, 2010 9:33 PM
For some of you who are anticipating this movie, it will mean a return to good times and honoring the cult status of TRON. However, I think that the theme of Legacy regarding how we deal with technology runs even deeper than what is implied.

I saw Tron in 1982 with my late old man who passed on in 2002. It was exhilarating to see something unique at this impressionable young age of 10 which sparked a creative inspiration in me for many years to the present.

So, when I see Kevin Flynn turning around in that trailer, lighting up the floor and seeing his son for the first time, I see my old man in him.

If that was my father, I'd die a thousand deaths to bring him back. To see Flynn like this is like standing before my late father, almost in a wishful way if he were still around.

To see Tron : Legacy will be like sitting next to my old man reminiscing over good times.

And I don't blame Sam Flynn one bit. I now understand why Disney chose to have it play near Christmas.

One more month. And my old man will be looking down and smiling on the fact I've stuck around long enough to finally see this sequel and remember the little boy in me.

Thank the Users for Tron : Legacy.

Wow....I actually have something in common with you Pilgrim and it's not our love of Tron....though we do share that. I too saw TRON in 1982 with my father, and like yours he passed in 2002 after a protracted bout with lung cancer. I don't know if my father would be as enthusiastic about the sequel like I am but I understand your feelings 100%. The fact that Disney chose this time of year to show the movie, is kinda like a bonus for me. My birthday is actually the day before opening day so finally after years of having final exams in grade school and college ruin my birthday, I can be happy that with age come rewards. where to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill onlineabortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

Iso, yeah I hear you on that one. It just struck me as how Flynn almost looks like my father with the beard on. I think when it comes to this movie, it really does teach us that we should appreciate our fathers a bit more.

But also, in that vein, in this story, people should know that Old Man Flynn has some tricks up his sleeve. It's all in the wrists, right? Clu may be in for a surprise.

I watched Tron with my father also, his influence on my career path as well as how Tron made an impression on me back when I was a kid - it pretty much lead me down a path involving I.T. Back then - I dreamed of making video games - with my friends - we drew up wirefames of what most folks today would recognize the standard interface for a space battleship FPS ( ok, I was also a huge starblazers fan - still am - live action movie in december released in Japan) .
Today I'm a Sysadmin, still very much interested in all things I.T. because of the boy in me thanks to Tron.

My dad is still around - we almost lost him about 12 years ago to a stroke - he's not the same person he was when I was a kid anymore, but I'm thankful that I might have a chance to watch this film with him again. It's still bitter sweet since my mother passed 3 years ago -so I'm sure we're be both teary-eyed when we watch the reunion scene.

And that is why for this film event, you ALL take your old man with you to it.

As for StarBlazers or should I say Space Battleship Yamato, that was a CLASSIC show! I saw this in 1979 back in the day. Great times!

I saw the first film at the age of 12 upon release and this sequel takes me back. Over the years I have collected a number of the toys, comics, films, games and TV shows I enjoyed as a child. I enjoyed being a kid and never forgot the fun of it.

There have been many returns of the popular culture I grew up with. There have been sequels and remakes of TV and films and reproductions of toys I had. Some remakes and sequels worked out better than others.

Tron really is one of the final products I enjoyed as a kid which is being brought back. Just about everything else I grew up with has been brought back in one form or another.

It makes me aware of the passing of time.

"No one gets out of childhood alive." Tron is a reminder of my childhood and it's unlikely there anything else I grew up with which will be brought back.

I'm glad there is going to be a sequel and I'll be able to enjoy it and the merchandise along with this movie.

End of Line

As far as I know, my older sister saw the movie in theatres with our father. (I didn't even have a chance to as seeing how I was only what, a newborn in 1982 :P)

I didn't get to see Tron until 1992 when I was ten. My mom was like, "Oh, this really cool movie's on, I'll tape it for you!"

Then I was just hooked like that. I only had to wait 18 years for a sequel whereas you guys had to wait 28 years. @_@ (Still, that was a pretty long time to wait!)

*Hugs to all*

I was 3 or 4 years old when Tron originally came out in theaters. So I was too young to see or understand it. However, I saw it a few years later on video and loved it ever since. My parents got me some of the toys, coloring books, read along books, and posters. I rented the movie so much that I may as well have bought several copies. My parents finally got the hint and bought me a copy of the movie, which I watched until it broke. Heh

It was what actually got me interested in computers at a young age. So that is what I went for in college. Tron was always an inspiration to me, even though a lot of people I mentioned it to had no idea what it was. Some years later I had a dream that Tron became more popular than Star Wars and Star Trek combined, and had a whole isle of merchandise devoted to it. I've actually seen a few things in stores that were in my dream, so that could be an indication. So to me it will mean the return of an old friend and possibly a dream come true. where to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online

I think this movie will have a big impact on a lot of father/son relationships. I Don't remember seeing Tron with my dad,I remember seeing Tron at my f friend's house back when I was 6(1982) and I was really hooked. We used to play Tron on Atari, and even did a Tron puzzle (CLU inside the tank). I even put this movie above Star Wars. I hope this movie not only brings father/son relationships together, but for all of us as fans. I'm glad I got to meet a few , from this site and unfiction.
