After the re-release, that would make 3 versions of it on DVD. What can they include in this new release that would make it better?

We're talking about the high-def Blu-ray release of the original Tron, right?

So it will be the first high-def release, and will likely include lots of bonus content and goodies, seeing how Blu-ray can hold 50gb of info.

Actually, were talking about the 3-D re-release of Tron to theaters.

They are doing a post-3D job on the original Tron? Really? I haven't heard that before, sweet! I'm not a big fan of post 3D, but I'll see it anyway...

That would be too cool, but somehow I think something is getting lost in translation. I'm really surprised they haven't released a specific date as to when the Blu Ray version of TRON is going to be out.

What "Disney themepark" screened "TRON" during the summer? What was the
make-up of the audience there? Blue Sky's Blog doesn't give enough details.

Could someone fill me in with more info on this, and did people really react like "Blue Sky Blog" is saying? Is this just heresay or what?

I mean it goes to show how immature and ignorant alot of people can be and don't understand a film made nearly 30 yrs ago. To laugh at it's VFX? Where all these people at the screening under 30? Where they mostly 13 - 21 year olds?

To laugh at the costumes and VFX, well that's as stupid as laughing at great classic films like Forbidden Planet, Star Wars (1977), and others just bacause it doesn't look like modern 2010 CGI VFX or isn't filled with violent, frenetic action and explosions every 10 minutes.

It's sad that people have become numbed to and ignorant of real *art* and good classic films like TRON and laugh at inappropriate moments (if that what actually happened).
This article kind of reeks of heresay, so it's hard to tell how accurate it's claims are. I could see laughing at the goofy akwardness and extreme campiness of "Barbarella" or "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" and it's very low-budget, cheap effects, but TRON?

What the FRAK is wrong with some people and kids today? Must Too much frakin' FPS, over-done CGI, and violent & gory SAW crap? Seems like it.... wow. It really almost infruraiting that the some at Disney may be allowing this small audience of immature kids and d**chebags influence them into delaying the release of TRON on BluRay until way after Tron Legacy. How about an early release promotion set up for all the real TRON fans to enroll to pre-order TRON on blu-ray that they can get early? F**** the mainstream, let us buy it ffs. >:-(

Finally, some news:
http://www.dvdtown.com/news/greetings-programs-disneys-tron-coming-to-blu-ray/8063

After a recent screening of the upcoming TRON sequel TRON: Legacy (in theaters Dec 17), TRON's writer/director Steven Lisberger was briefly interviewed (by a collider.com editor), with news that he recently spent six weeks remastering the classic film in HD for a forthcoming Blu-ray release. Lisberger said TRON looks "better than it's ever looked before," and that he made a few changes.

Steve 'Frosty' Weintraub reports from the Collider.com website — Now before you go thinking that Lisberger pulled a George Lucas and made huge changes to TRON… you can relax. He told me that it's a lot of subtle changes throughout the film. He went on to say that after remastering the movie, TRON feels closer to what he imagined it would feel like in terms of the color balance. He also says there is consistency that wasn't there before and he got to play with the glow. Meaning, he tweaked things that couldn't be done back in the early 80's and I'm sure most of us won't notice what he did. Again, he didn't pull a Lucas.

I just hope the Reco's don't look green any more... they're supposed to be menacing, black with red trace lines, and in my view not be colored green and red like an xmas decoration!order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pill

I must say that I am totally shocked that the original DVD is no where to be found, in the vault... What in the world is the point of this? I am not talking about a nice remastered blu ray version, that I can understand, but the original DVD? That is like.... hmm.. well it's gotta be like something? I mean kmon Disney, press Cntrl P on the old duplicators and get krankin on the original. Some people out there will see the new Legacy stuff and be reminded of the original and want to see it or buy it. Doesn't make any sense from a marketing perspective.

Can't view the link at the moment since link isn't url'd and phone won't let me copy it, but it sounds like he may have pulled a partial-Lucas and I'm not sure I'm down with that. Guess we'll see what it looks like soon. Hope he didn't give faces on the game grid full-color flesh-tones, and didn't change the color of any glow lines or recognizers. When suit circuitry goes black in places, he probably fixed that, but I hope not. I just prefer to leave well and good alone since that's how it was made. Make it sharper, but don't start tweaking things. Tweaking the above stuff would be, to me, similar to changing the MCP's face from 100 polygons to 500,000 just because that's what the director wished he could have done 30 years ago... And it will make him more palatable to today's viewing audience.

"URLed" now - I don't remember the last forum I was on where that was necessary! But I fixed it.

They very specifically say they aren't going the Lucas route. But that means different things to different people. It seemed more about getting consistent tones throughout more of the movie. Which would be nice as there are times when suddenly everyone has a more yellow or green tint for no discernable reason.

I wonder if he finally corrected the bit where Tron's disc trail is the wrong colour when he throws it at Sark (or if he leaves it as a sort of "red hadouken" bit).
